I have been trying to get my wife to let me put my biggest two bucks in our living room. Currently they are on the walls in the "junk room" so I can't show them off because "someone will see the mess". I told her the other day that putting them on the wall would actually let people know that a man does indeed live there....LOL!

I really never had an interest in having fish mounted. My friend got into this a couple years ago and does mine for next to nothing.
I am going for one of every species I fish now.
These are the first thing you see when you walk in my house.
I need this year:
A 15" plus crappie
A 30" Walleye
A 22" LM
Those are all doable....

Thats a damn big bluegill
Two weeks ago I cought a 7 pound largemouth on a private strip mine lake in Southern Illinois....Thing must have been ancient, as this was the biggest largemouth I have ever cought or seen anyone catch live for that matter
Im now kicking myself for not mounting it, but I promised the owner of the lake I would catch and release, so I decided to let it go...
Just had one buddy with me, and we didnt have a camera:rolleyes: so needless to say no one believes me...and no his scale wasnt off

You did the right thing by letting her go. Our word is all we really have amoung men. Once you give it, it's sacred.
Funny how that the Camera thing works..I am an avid Carp angler and have been searching for a 40lber for some time. I got my first 40 plus...No camera!

THe problem with catching huge croppy is you really have to weed out all the little ones first.......Then you catch that absolute slab:D
15" is definatly not outta the question
Once I get my own house here in a few months im gonna start my own collection

hahahahahaha.....so true....One of my best friends would bring a camera sometimes when we went bass fishing. We would never catch a "gooddun" when he did. He leaves it if we go now.
I had a nice collection of mounts (2 - 8 point whitetails, 20lb landlocked stripe, 18lb hybrid stripe, 2 - 2+lb yellow perch and a really large fox squirrel) but my new girl gets really upset thinking about the "poor little animals" so they are in my shop now.
Nice fish fitnessman!

20lb Landlocked Striper  Bet that was a hoot to catch!

Hell yes - thirty minutes of fun with 12 lb line. The guy standing next to me that day caught a 54lb striper about thirty minutes later (he started catching it thirty minutes later, the fight lasted almost an hour and carried him a half mile downstream). We have to use light line and small terminal tackle because the stripe are so spooky but there is no cover they run to - just open water so as long as you have a smooth drag and lots of line it's all good. Hydroelectric dam tailrace on the Tennessee River in north AL.
I am still waiting for a thirty pounder - went last weekend and got a little one and some assorted other stuff. I put it all back now, I hate cleaning fish and I'm getting pretty lazy.
Cool - 2500 posts :D

We have an artist by the name of Marty Wilson (some of you probably have his t-shirts) that does a lot of fishing scenes.
He takes your fish.........paints it.......rolls it onto canvas.....then touches it up.
this way you have a girth length recording of your fish, and one hell of a nice painting.

Damn, how do you guys catch fish? Whenever I go fishin, I get bored, then start throwing big ass rocks in the water and all the fish get scared and swim away. So, whenever I go fishin I usually never catch notin,:( unless I get lucky. :)

Caught it in a pond that a very good trout stream runs through, it was over 90 degrees outside, mid afternoon and I was 13. I told my dad "one more cast" and I reeled her in, pretty strange huh? Nearly pulled me in the water.
About 22"

How often do you replace them? Don't the fish get all smelly and rotten after a while

Are you serious?
A good mount will last a lifetime. Most often the only part of the fish that is used is the Skin. The body is a foam form. Eyes are glass. So...No smell or rot issues.
