Just wondering... how much cheating can be done on a cheat day when trying to loose weight - that is, if throughout the week one follows a strict regimen and exercises religiously? Lemme know so that when mine rolls around, I can enjoy without the guilt! :)

You'll have to experiment, but if you eat healthy on your cheat day, probably twice as much as you eat on a normal day would be the limit. Also, if you can include fiber and good fat with every meal, this will slow the release of other foods you eat so you keep insulin stable.

I agree, cheat day is an individual thing. Some can cheat the entire day and do ok, while others, like myself, do better cheating until noon and resume the healthy diet.

I usually limit myself on a cheat day. I will stay healthy during the day. But one or two nites a week, I will go out for dinner and I will eat whatever I want, maybe some dessert, a drink.....or two.

Wish I could eat whatever for a whole 24 hour cheat day....but it would set me back the whole week. :(

I have decided that a cheat day, is exactly that, a CHEAT DAY!!!!!
I love it. But what I consider a cheat day is from the time I wake up until around 10:00 pm. I eat prettyy much what I want and enjoy it. Yeah, I feel pretty full by the nights end. But I have to say by the next morning I am totally focused and ready for a new week. It looks like I put some back on for a day or two, but by wednesday I look and feel like new again and notice that by that friday I have lost off even more and toned more as well. This is with the idea that I use Sat. as a cheat day "free day"
Enjoy it for all it is worth, you deserve it!!!!!!

Well i tell all the ppl i train ...male or female that a cheat day should only be used when you without a doubt NEED IT....i dont think it should be takin every week...only when you are just about to go crazy from your diet should it be takin...

After 30+ years doing every imaginable diet........I think whoever started the "cheat day" was a genius. Telling someone that they cannot cheat makes it very tough to stick to a diet.
When they do finally cheat, they will binge, feel guilty as hell, binge some more since they feel so bad....then feel even worse...and there goes the diet.

No one should ever get to the point that they are going crazy on a diet. :) We got enough other things to go crazy about.

I totally agree with you Trish. I could not of said that any better myself. I have to add to that though with the idea that a cheat day is great also because it tricks our body. When we "diet" our body starts to believe that we are "starving" ourselve. This cheat day tells our body that it is ok, we are not starving ourselve and that everything is all right. You may feel really bloated and sick like you think you have done so much damage to yurself and you think you have put back on everything you have lost. But it is funny how it works out that you actually will lose quite well in the ened. Just always remember to weigh yourself only on the free days that you take..in the moorning when you first wake!!!!! THis is only for those of us that are still attached to that darn scale. You will also notice it in your clothes with in the 2nd week for sure.

Yes and with that said i also think if the diet is set up right you wont even have that "im going to go crazy feeling" ...i get alittle moody when it comes down to pre contest but i dont ever go crazy from it....i have only helped a few ppl with pre contest diets but they all been the same way..and if you can be like that on a pre contest diet then a regular diet should be cake....no pun intended:)
