hey just some questions about water rention...


i recnetly lost alot of weight from 233 to 196lbs, i want to get to 190 btw,

basically i feel i have some water retention, especially in my arms, since im still workin with fat loss regime, weights for an hour cardio for 30 mins, recently changed to this from doing cardio 1st.

from doing this ive noticed im toning up abit when im doing a movement ie lookin the mirror..


i was just wondering how i could get rid some water retention, i can feel my abs now and see tops of them coming through, still have a bit of a fat too loose but thats coming of pretty fast now im doign about 12miles a week running..

any idvice you guys could give me..

Honestly I'm not sure if your lean enough to have water retention be a noticable problem. However to get rid of any excess water simply drink atleast 1 gallon of water per day, and try to take in up to 2 gallons per day if you can, but don't go over 2. Also try to reduce your sodium intake, try keeping it below 2,500mg and definately don't consume more than 3,000 mg if your concerned about water retention.

cheers guys, how much more do you think i need to loose??

ive been told about another 7-10lbs?? would you guys agree?

im 6"1 ...also was unsure what subject to put it in as its such a varied subject..

after i tone up i wanna go big.. also i dont think those pics justify my size in muscle.. hopefully get some new ones soon..Matt

any more advice?

This is in the contest prep section b/c we have probably the most knowledge about losing water weight, and to the guy who said water weight wasn't your problem. Yes, it is a big part of your problem. Here are some things I would do for your water weight AFTER you lose more fat! Cut back on the sodium big time and start taking potassium 4-6 times a day spread out. Also, this always helps me. Drink 1gal. of distilled water only everyday for a week! There are a lor more things bro. but just lose more fat first K. Late

Sodium, pushes water out of cells causes subcutaneous fluid!

Potassium, pushes water into cells. GOOD THING LOL!

when you say just water for a week you mean no food at all??


cheers for the advice.. hoy much do you think i got to loose fat wise?

im drinkin about 2.5litres a day id say.. but cud defo have more.... i pressume u can get pottasium in tablet form?? should i do that now or after ive lost the bit of fat??

The pottasium thing isn't going to make a huge difference, and unless your doing a show it isn't needed. Increase your water intake as stated to 1-2 gallons per day. As far as how much more weight you need to loose that depends on how cut you want to be. If you lost another 10lbs of fat you would probably be able to see your abs fairly well and be fairly toned overall.

yeah 10lb shoudnt be so bad...


seen as i tho ive lost over 30lbs

if i keep going on wholegrain spagetti veg n chicken and steak and other lean meets and keepin the protien high i think i should do ok..

mix this is in with my 2 6 mile runs aweek and 3-4hrs cardio ill soon burn the fatt off...

any ideas how much carbs i should be taking in so that after weight work out on to my cardio ill be burning fat.. my weight session are normally about an hour long..

Other than the fact that it helps reducing fluid retention it's just plain out good for you in everyway! My friends father has obesity and the doctor has him taking potassium all day long for fluid retention purposes and muscle contraction purposes.

just done 1hr chest, and then 30 min bike do HIIT (1st 2mins on level 8 then 30secs on level 12 etc) beats never went over 150 so thats ideal fat burning.

and then done 10min cross trainer and 1hr walk thei and back.

Food consumed:

2* maximuscle cyclone before and after work out
75grams of whole grain spagetti and
12 chicken mini fillets with basil and taragon on top with a cajun spice.
and 3 litres of water.

also takin Extra lean tablets.

noticed i was 13stone 9 when i got their and 13 12lbs when i left..


any advice??

Watch it with the potassium supplementation it can be dangerous if you take too much, just FYI.

you need to lose more then 7-10 lbs to get shredded as you stated. I would say at least 30 pounds. Big difference isn't ;)

another 30lbs, that would make me 160lbs that make me 11stone 4 and im 6'1
sounds abit too much to me.


i rekon another 8-14lbs, that would take me down to 12st 8.
