I'm in a bit of a unique situation. I teach part time classes and do part time training at a private fitness center. It's not truely private, anyone can workout for a $10 fee, but to residents of this community network, it's free (classes and training cost extra). The fitness center manager and general manager of the entire clubhouse are raging drunks. So bad, that it's affecting my pay and my business. I have a new class starting next month (for example), I send them the description of the class well in advance to include in their flyer that they publish and mail to the residents. I figure, not a lot of people know what a boot camp class is and might hesitate to take class based on lack of knowledge. They publish they flyer without my description. Petty thing to be angry over, but I bust my butt to get people to classes and generate a little extra revenue. I enjoy doing it, but the management is going to kill it for both themselves and for me. They are so absent minded, my guess is because they are out getting sloshed every night at the bar. That's no way to conduct business and certainly not a good picture of health.

Anyone seen a similar situation in another gym or fitness center?

Alright I'm a guy but this is an easy one. Sounds to me like you may need to change establishments. Drunks will never get their act together and you have too much going for you to stay wrapped up with a crew like that. They only value their drinks. Keep your eyes open for a different fitness spot that will allow you to do what you enjoy. You're absolutely gorgeous. You won't have any trouble finding work elsewhere.

Take care.

has anyone confronted them on their alcoholicism? maybe they think they don't have a problem and they their current business policies are perfectly fine. I was kinda in a situation such as yours (albeit different circumstances). it was a unisex beauty salon and the male owner had a bad habit of harassing the female customers. I told all the stylists about it, and urged them to confront him, or their revenue will be compromised.

They didn't. And i, as well as other female customers, stopped going to the salon all together.

I'm not very confrontational, but I'm about ready to talk to their managers. There's a local morning radio show that lives on the property and works out there. They were discussing where they workout this morning and mentioned how one of the guys brings a guest daily without paying the guest rate ($10 per workout). How is that fair to the other people that might be guests of the gym? the fitness center manager lets this guy and his guest get away with it! yet, I invited anyone I see in the gym to jump in for the abs portion of my classes...it's only 15 minutes. The manager gets all mad and tries to charge them to do abs in a class setting!

AND, I know that the fitness center manager is not PT certified, yet is training people. I confirmed that over the weekend. When it was time to renew his certification, he asked me to take the test and give him the answers (because my renewal was also coming up). I said too bad, I gained enough CEU's to recertify without taking the test again.

Take the test and give him the answers????? hell no that is some truly shady actions on his part. and its no telling how he's damaging those people trying to instruct them when he doesn't know what he's talking about.

definately go and report to their managers about it, and if you could report on him training people w/o a certification.

I contacted ACE and explained the situation and they would like to look into it.
