The recent threads about catfish got me to thinking. As I said before my dad and I commercial fished for cat when I was young. I was running a trotline, when I told dad I needed the net because I had a good one (when usually just jerked the small ones in). A nice blue rolls up and darts straight down so I have to give him line. He just keeps running so I eventually have to start throwing hooks back out. One of the hooks catches my hand and the fishes pulls it in my finger past the barb. There I stand, hook buried in finger with 20lb cat pulling at the line. I was about 12. I don't think there was a cuss word that I didn't say (I never was bad to cuss, especially in front of dad). I grabbed the hook, pulled it out, caught the fish, and proceded to run the line. Dad never said a word..... I still look at the scar on my finger and laugh when I think about how funny I probably looked. What are some of yours?

I once got the bright idea to try and ride a yearling stallion that wasn't saddle broken. I was about 10 or 12 at the time. All I remember is flying through the air and hitting the ground.

Luckily my parents didn't see it or they would still be making fun of me.:D

When I was 15 I was helping my cousin do some landscape work at his house. We needed to move a huge rock so he grabbed one side and I took the other. We were carrying it over to his skid steer and right when we got it over there...I dropped it...on my hand....on the edge of the bucket of the skid steer...So I had this huge rock on top of my hand (mostly on my finger) and on the bottom was the edge to a skid stee bucket.

Hurt like hell and it broke my tendons in my right hand ring finger. I went in for surgery and now I have a zigzag patteron on my finger from the surgery.

All is well now but sometimes my finger will get weak if I am lifting alot with it.

Another one when I was about 12 or 13.

I was cruising right along in one of our pastures with our 4 wheeler through the waist high grass, and the next thing I know, I was waking up on the ground about 30 feet from the overturned 4 wheeler. (do we see a pattern forming?) I forgot that a large tree branch fell off one of our oak trees earlier that year and my dad drug it out into the field.
I figure I hit the limb doing about 30.

Have an accident prone friend who was cutting wood for the winter. He noticed movement right next to his leg and looked. A rattlesnake was coiled up next to his leg! In one motion he threw down the saw and grabbed a limb over his head and pulled up. The limb broke and he rolled down the hill.....At least he didn't get bit.

He also has a mean bull. One day the bull charged him. He ran and was trying to hurdle a bobwire fence (he is tall) but he got hung in it. The bull butted him out of it...LOL!

road rash, gashes, bruised organs, torn ligaments/cartillage, scalped myself partially, puncture wounds, various foreign objects embedded in my skin and muscle.

it'd take days to go through all my good injury stories.

ya a friend of ours was chasing some deer on some guys ranch on the 4 wheeler, so the guy in the helicopter could net them. He hit this tree stump sticking out and went flying...just reminded me of that

was climbing a tree when i was young...slipped and fell but got caught on a rusty nail in the tree...sliced a 6 inch long cut starting on my stomach to my ribcage....and i hung up in the tree by my shirt and i was bleeding everywhere. I still have a very visable scar to this day.

Funny thing is it didnt really even hurt that much.

when I was in boyscouts I did so many dumb things. anyway one time this wierd/strange kid was walking along next to my good friend. My good friend whacks a beehive and they come out to attack. My friend and the wierdo run for it, The wierd kid had four bees go up his sweatpants. Funniest thing ever cause he didnt want to drop his pants....so they just kept stinging him and he kept crying.

I had once, out in the woods, at a hike in... 6 hour hike back to the Car... 45 minute drive to anything that resembled a real town... We were out there for a week, fishing, camping, hiking etc...

I got a horsefly bite on my nipple... Aereola actually... First day...

Well the damn thing gets infected... AND BAD...

So rather than ruin the trip... I got a head full of testostone... I bit down on a stick... Took out my hunting knife, and cut the puss sack out of my nipple... Then bandaged it up with a ton of neosporin...

Man did that thing hurt all the rest of the week!

No scar... But oddly now, I have a hair growing out of the area, and it grows like the hair on my head... If I don't trim it the thing will grow to like 10-12 inches. (Longest I've ever let it grow.)

****

In my teenage years, me and a bunch of my buddies were camping... About a mile away was another campground of guys who were our rivals... So one night we snuck across this old field... It was once a pasture that had returned to being parially wooded...

We snuck over really late at night... Took a 5 gallon gas can... Poured a ring around their campsite...

Emptied bags full of **** and piss at the entrence to their tents... Then lit the ring of gasoline on fire and took off running... So they come out, freaked... Step on the excrement piles, to find themselves trapped in a "Burnging Ring of Fire." (We had been listening to too much Jonny Cash) Then we pelted them with eggs from the edge of the trees, and we ran...

On the way running back, I tripped over some old downed barbwire fence... Wiped out, and impaled my bicep clean through on what looked like an old tine from an old side rake...

Pierced the friggin' muscle in my Bi!

Got back to camp... Removed it...

I went to the clinic in town and stayed the night... The next night the other camp came and repayed the favor, while I was asleep in a nice clean bed, my Campmates were getting **** bombs thrown on them!

Just had one last Friday. I was surf fishing the Long Beach are and hooked a 23 inch halibut. When I got it to the shore I went to remove the jig and the fish started thrashing around and one of the treble hooks ended up in my thumb. I tried pulling it out but it was in there too deep so I went to the doc and had him cut it out. I think I have some nerve damage because my thumb still feels totally numb, but hopefully the feeling will come back.

Nah... What's making your thumb feel numb is the latent swelling in the area...

It will come back after the thing has healed and scarred over...

A good idea whenever you are fishing with heavy gear etc... Is to keep a knipex bolt cutter with you. (I keep on in my boat/tackle box) The same size as a wire snippers really...

That way when something like that happens, you can quick cut the hook...

Then as gruesome as it may sound... You want to push the hook through... If you try to wrench it backwards the barb will hash your flesh to ribbons and it will quadruple the time it takes to heal as well as increase the chance of infection...

Well usually it breaks off around 5-6 inches... But one time I noticed it was looking particularly long and strong... So I decided to see how long it could get before it broke...

It is funny... I affectionately call it "My Mutant Nipple Hair."

Women Hate it, and I've had many a girlfriend try to rip it out while I was sleeping...

***

I knew that the current girlfriend was a keeper, when the time she discovered it was when we were laying down watching TV with her head on y chest, and a fan blowing... And it kept tickling her face, and she just perked her head up a little and tucked the mutant nipple hair under her head.

Yeah I mean they say that Love is blind, so a guy always needs something as his barometer... In this case she's the only woman who's gotten along with my mutant nipple hair...Maybe... It's like a Psychic connection...

Maybe my nipple hair is actually a "Psychic Mutant Nipple Hair."

Like it's the super hero of nipple hair...

Does it have any other cool powers, like alerting you to danger or changes in the weather?

It has the ability to freak out materialistic women...
Assess good women who don't have stupid vain body hair hang ups...
It also has the ability to tell wind direction...
And can open beer bottles with a single bound...
