hi all, i know this might sound a daft q but i gotta ask it, ive just been reading an artical in a muscle& fittness magazine , a lady in there said she belives in focusing on what body part ur training at the time and visualize how you want it to build it in ur mind while doing the exercise and so on, well i normaly do that too , with great results!!!!!!!!!!! thing is i started using an ipod today with some good tunes on it at the gym hoping it will deter people from comming and starting conversations with me whilst im trying to get a good workout , do you think this will hinder my progress in any way?????????????????????????????

thank you all for any comments much appricated, again sorry if daft q .
maybe i would be best to use it only on cardio days ,

do any others of you use ipods, whilst training ?????????

I use an iPod all the time while lifting and doing cardio, to avoid too many people trying to talk to me at the gym, that can add on an extra 45 minutes!

and if anything I find that music pumps me up to workout even harder. I cant imagine how listening to music would hinder your progress?

I totally think using a ipod/mp3 player is a great motivator. I notice when I run on the treadmill or pump some iron I go harder especially on a good song I really love.

I ALWAYS use my ipod at the gym, whether weight training or cardio...unless im having a session with a pt. Id feel lost without it if I didnt have it.
It pumps me up.esp. for leg training and shoulders. And feel it really gets me into my zone and focus!!! Love it.
If it works for you and gets you pumped up...and yep...helps you push out that last rep becuase your favourite song is playing...then by all means dont stop when its not broken!!!
Do what works for you...not what others do that works for them.

I find it ammusing that Ipod has become the defacto standard for portable MP3 players.

I feel that Ipods are too popular. They are not worth it...to me at least.

I went with the Creative Muvo Tx 1GB. It is small, and the most important feature is that it is 100% plug and play compatible.

There is no need to have any software running on your computer to add music to my MP3 player. This is a rare feature as I have come to find out the hard way. The Muvo acts like a flash drive, so once it is plugged into a USB slot, any PC that recognizes Flash Drives can see it, and transfer music to it (or data...not confined to music)

I do not need to install any 3rd party software to make my MP3 player work.

That being said, if the IPOD started acting like a portable flash drive, and showed up on the root directory when it was plugged in...I may consider getting one. Has Apple made this possible yet?
