I'm just curious about using plates vs boards. I dont have boards (and I'm not planning on making any till i get back home from school cause i only have a few weeks left) and I was wondering if its the same idea to just put plates on my chest. I would assume its the same idea. I've been using 1 25lb plate = 1 board. I have a spotter making sure the plates stay on my chest when i bench so its safe n everything.

I'm going to make boards when i get back home, im just curious what ppls thoughts are about using plates instead.

That's going to be tough. It may not seem like a lot of weight on your chest until you're trying to max on a 4-board with 100lbs on your chest.

Why not use phonebooks?

Just take a bunch of towels and roll them up then tape them closed use that to supplement for board press until you get some. Make it about 6 inches thick(towels that is)

Boards are the cheapest peice of equipment you will ever buy. Buy a 2X6X10 and cut it in 4 equal size pieces. Goto a lumber yard and ask for scraps.. you may get a stick for free.
