im gonna be heading out to my moms house in a few hours and she has a pretty decent sized pond with a lot of bass in it. thing is, i don't really know alot about bass fishing. what do they like...? worms? lures? or what? what time of day is best to fish for them? any tips or info would be appreciated.

When it comes to pond fishing, I usually start with a rooster tail, preferably white or other brighter color. I have caught pond bass on plastic worms, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, topwater plugs, beetle spins, various other small baits. You can also use live bait under a float.

Being a novice, this would be the best bet.

i have no idea what it was, it wasnt a top water though. it was just the lure on there that i was using last time with no success. i can go take a pic if you'd be able to tell what it is by looking at it

maybe, you dont have to though. I wish it was warm enough to fish here. Im in class right now, and you just got back from catching a nice large mouth.

You fried a bass!?! I usually put those suckers back in. That was a really nice bass though. Keep fishing that pond. I'm sure there are more in there like that. I just went this morning after work for a few hours. I ended up catching 13 bass, 11 gills, and 1 crappie. Most of the bass were pushing 2lbs, but like I said, I put those back. I ended up with 7 good size gills to eat and 1 crappie (he was around 12 or 13in). I cought them all on a 2in silver/blue minnow jerkbait made by Storm. In fact, that's the only lure I've used the past few times I've been to that lake. The lake is a decent sized one in a local state park. You have to walk a ways to get to it, so not a whole lot of people fish there. I'm going to take a canoe or something out on it so I can get to a few more places without spending most of my time walking.
I'm heading to Florida for a couple of days for some business, so maybe I'll get a few hours to fish in the gulf. If I do, I'll be sure to shoot a few pics.

Just stick your thumb on the bottom of his jaw inside the mouth and it paralizes the fish. It can be tricky when you pull the hook out if it tries to jump in your hand, but it's easier to hold with one hand in the mouth. Try it next time, he won't bite. Nice fish by the way.
