Hey guys. I've been browsing the forums in my off time for a few months now, but I've decided to sign up and post a log here for criticisms and stuff.

For a quick history, I'm 20 years old, about 205 pounds at 6'0 or 6'1, somewhere between there. I'm a student full time in Ottawa, Canada. My body building history starts back years and years ago. I used to be pretty huge. I was around 255 - 260 lbs when I was 17 or 18, can't remember. Since then I've dropped to around 200, and my weight have fluctuated +/- 5-10 lbs since then as I've focused more on lifting and building muscle.

Anyway, I'm hoping to trim to around 180 lbs and hopefully maintain or gain some muscle in that time. My goal for now is my 21st bday, in the first week of June.

I was interested in trying the keto diet for a while because it seemed like something I could see myself doing. Low carb diets never interested me because of the limitations, but keto is great - you get to throw cheese and oil on everything. haha. Plus, its relatively cheap compared to what i was doing before.

here's a link to my fitday if you want to check out macros or stats or what have you.

http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=adamhwilk

Generally, my plan is to aim for as close to 60/35/5 f/p/c, then carb up starting on friday or saturday and ending the next day or so. This works pretty well, since me and my roommates go out pretty much every weekend. When we go out I'll probably take in a decent amount of alcohol, between 6-8 beers (coors light, 4.2% alc and 5 carb, 100 cal) or alot of diet coke and rum, plus I'll probably find my way to some pizza or something good like that. Some weeks I'll probably end up switching my carb up to Thursdays instead, if everyone wants to go out then. But, yeah, thats bassically the plan.

Workouts involve boxing for cardio, and the collection of free weights/bar bells etc we have pooled in our basement. Usually work out every other day. Because of my lack of weights, (my bench press will be forever maxed around a measly 130 or 140 until I can get the funds to buy more weight) I usually focus on more repetitions.

For supplements I use animal pak on training days, as well as one whey isolate shake a day, immediately after workouts or in the morning on off days. I take fish oil capsules if I haven't had any flax or if I remember to :P

So yeah, that is pretty much it! I'll start my first entry with a fresh post to keep things nice looking.

Alright, so, today is my third (or maybe fourth) day on the keto plan. Last night I had to stay up pretty late working on an essay (all nighters are fun), but I managed to get around 8 hours of sleep and slid back in to a routine. Got some grocery shopping done, mayo, pb, all that good stuff.

Most importantly, I stopped off at shopper's drug mart and picked up some keto sticks (cost me 8 bucks for about 30 of them i think). Strip turned pretty red, so I'm positive for keto already, which is a relief.

I worked out yesterday, so today I am just about to do some medium intensity cardio/boxing for about 20 minutes before I get to work for the rest of the night.

Details on my cardio sessions:

I do medium-heavy intensity punches and quick jabs, always on my toes and keeping my heart rate up. I do this for about 5 minutes until I can't throw another punch. I take a one minute recovery, followed by 30 jumping jacks, and then I repeat. I do this until I've done 150 jumping jacks, so the whole thing took about 20 minutes. I hope to increment this by a few minutes each week, maybe eventually going for a full 30-35 minutes with more intensity. Not the typical cardio routine, I know, but its what I got to work with.

Oh, and as soon as I find my camera, I will put some progress pictures up. Don't know where the bugger went.

haven't been staying on top of fitday, but i generally understand the ratio and my calories quite well.

i started around the 25th of feb, its now nearly april, so about 4.5 weeks have gone by.

i started at around 205 with moderate carbs, i'm now at 192. i expected results to be much slower than this, considering i eat quite well, around 2k cals a day.

it looks like i'll hit my target of 180 by next month!

for those interested, i switch between two workouts - focusing on upper body one day and lower body/core on other days. i try to work out 3 or 4 times a week, and i try do 20-30 mins of cardio (heavy bag) twice a week.

as far as retaining muscle goes, i'm on the bandwagon - keto seems to have a very muscle sparring effect. My lifts have gone up (albeit marginally), not down, while on keto.

Another cool thing..

It is interesting to note that I was stuck around 195-196 for a week or so until I had a heavy carb up over easter. I ate more or less like a pig with no regards for maintaining macros for about three days. I ballooned up to almost 200 again.

But the week or two since then, back on keto, the water weight dropped, and the fat has been melting off. I've really noticed a difference in my stomach.

I think I will try treat my carb ups more seriously and eat more heavilly.

...talk about necropost.

I am currently sitting at about 183#, after re-introducing creatine to my workouts. I am currently going crazy because I am at home with no gym equipment and no gym membership for another week or so.

But basically, I have 2-3 weeks to lose the last 3 pounds to hit my goal of 180. I'll try to regularly update this log (which I've been terrible at doing) to keep myself on pace.

As far as my progress is concerned in the last 2-3 months, its been pretty solid. The last few weeks have been stagnant on the scale, but I still see visible changes every week. Upper abs are beginning to come in a bit, still have a bit of a gut left to lose on the lowers. My love handles seem to be stubborn. Ideally I'd like to slip down to 175 and re-evaluate my goals from there.

but right now it is off to the grocery store.

my 3 week log begins NOW.

Hey man good work. You've lost a lot of weight. Do you see any friends that haven't seen you in awhile? I love that. Even if they don't say anything about your weight loss, you can tell they're thinking it. Makes the whole experience worth it!

absolutely. its pretty funny, actually. i've been switching schools for the past few years, so i've recently seen some friends i haven't seen in literally two years, and they are blown away.

and its translated to all facets of life, too. more confident, more focused, pretty much more everything. i owe a lot to keto!

i'm really looking forward to starting work next week -- the office i worked at last summer when i was a solid 210-215. i lost maybe 5 pounds that summer and everyone was shocked, they will think i am a different person now.

on topic...

here are some recent progress pictures. apologies for not having some from 3 months ago, but they got deleted from my camera. the last 10 will be the sweetest, i have never seen my abs in my life. gogo motivation.

Macros for the day...

(Estimated, still have one meal left)

kcal: 2200
fat: 65%
pro: 31%
carb: 4%

workout: body weight stuff (pushups, burpees, squats, etc) and any basic exercise i could think of with two 30# dumbbells. i am aching for that gym membership, but i'll probably just keep this routine going with some cardio until it happens.

I'm probably gunna try to cut the cals to under 2k to speed things up a bit, I've been cutting at the same cals for a while now. Might as well try mixing things up a bit.

today was a carb up kind of thing, and since day one i've just been kind of lax with carb ups. I just let loose somewhat and eat what I normally don't. Sort of keeps my head on straight, I guess. I usually carb up whenever I feel it is time -- when my head starts to feel a bit fuzzy, when energy isn't quite peaking as much, when weight loss plateaus, etc. So that was today, for me.

had a few slices of pizza, some gatorade, some chips and other junk.. probably in total around 3k cals for the day.

had a good morning run, though, and i'm off to play basketball with some friends. will be back to regular ketoing tomorrow.

first day of summer work tomorrow. its an office job and my days will start at 530am. bleh.

so today i am trying to make foods that i can take with me.

i'm mixing up a big thing of tuna/mayo/cheese that should last me the week.

hardboiling a whole bunch of eggs.

i've got lots of almonds.

grilling up chicken/bacon for salad.

i've got keto style peanut butter cookies.

any other suggestions, guys? i dont get home until about 4pm.

so ill probably be eating like this:

6am morning cardio then eggs/bacon/tea
9am tuna/mayo
12pm salad or eggs
3pm cookies or almonds

then whatever for dinner, likely steak or ground beef with veggies.

Looks perfect - - though 3pm...cookies? hmmm, try for some animal there IMO.

I work an office job too ATM and it's great sitting at your desk eating eggs when the fat office girls tell you you're gonna die from cholesterol as they're pounding down poptarts lol.

haha yeah i know the feeling. my family is finally getting used to it, office mates probably will take a little while to get used to it..

the cookies are basically entirely peanut butter, olive oil, eggs and cream. Its really just a convenience thing, because i can take them on the go pretty easilly. mostly there for variety.

but i'll probably mix it up between the peanut butter, almonds and some cuts of deli meat.

back from my first day, and it went really well! i think i got 6 or 7 "oh man did you start working out"s which was funny to me because i've been working out for years. so in short, i should have anwsered, "no, i have not started anything."

but that aside... went good! followed almost exactly what i posted yesterday, and i wasn't hungry or tired at all throughout the day, except for watching the clock tick by those last 30 minutes.

i also managed to get my lazy ass out of bed for fasted morning cardio, probably the one thing i had no faith in myself doing at 5:30 in the morning. i was so close to giving up on it. but i'm glad i didn't, really woke me up and got me going.

yet to eat dinner, but predicted macros for the day:

cals: 2100
63% fat
34% pro
3% carb

that chicken breast is too damn lean, messing with my macros.. haha.

second day at work was a bit easier, but man is my sleeping out of order.

getting adjusted to 530 mornings is tough work. i was exhausted after work today, and i pretty much passed out from 5 till 9.

in result my calories were a bit lower than they should have been, but i am sure my body appreciates the sleep.

also, i think i will get to finally sign up for the gym tomorrow. yay.

cals/macros for the day
1800 kcal
67% fat
30% pro
3% carb

28th -- one week to go!

Well, after a few weeks I was frustrated -- I was staying at about 183 lbs. This morning I think I clocked in at 182, so I figured I'd take another picture.. And wow, watching the scale is a bad idea at this point for me. I am starting to tighten up pretty much everywhere. I'll take a photo in the morning on an empty stomach (like the earlier ones) for comparison's sake.

Also, I just got my ON nutrition cookies and cream whey in the mail... and my god, this stuff beats the pants off everything else I've ever tried. It is unbelievably good. I had it for breakfast today:

1.5 scoops ON cookies n cream
2 tbsp heavy cream
2 tbsp flax
water + a few ice cubes.

tastes fan-****ing-tastic. Its almost too good, I don't want to spike my results with too much whey.

Not bad results for 14 days. The most obvious change to me over the last month has been my upper abs really starting to show. I'm still 2 lbs off my target (wednesday) but I am seeing results, which is all that matters. Looking back and comparing the two pictures, I'm really satisfied and motivated to keep going.

I feel like not drinking in about a month has sped things up.

midweek after weekend carbup and i'm back to where i was before.. around 182-183 #

and i've passed my deadline, not quite making the cut i set for myself. but i'm not beating myself over it -- i've made some solid results, especially in these past few weeks.

my only concern lately is sleep. i've been average maybe 6 hours during the week because of when i work. i feel like this probably isn't good for my metabolism. any thoughts?

alrighty so had a killer session at the gym today, but i went late and they started closing at 5... so i decided to do cardio outside. was a bad idea, apparently, because my usual course nearly killed me -- the heat today was unbelievable. 30C in southern ontario just shouldn't happen suddenly like this...

but man did i break a sweat. felt pretty good.

i am thinking about breaking in to a modified velocity diet for a week and tracking the results. mostly because i've been so hard pressed for time, preparing meals for work has been a huge pain. This way I can bring a bag full of protein powder and some flax and go at it. The only modification I was thinking was adding 2 tbsp heavy cream to up the fats, a bit more energy to pull through with.

So I might as well log the details right now, and we can go from there:

1 serving shake
water - 0 cal
2 tbsp flax - 60 cal/5g fat/4g fiber/0g carb
2 tbsp whipping cream - 100 cal/10g fat/0g carb
45g whey/casein blend - 180 cal/6g carb/1g fiber/34pro

net: 340 cal/15g f/34g p/5g fib/6g c

so drinking 5 a day (6am,9am,12:30pm,4pm,PWO or 7pm)will put me at:

1700 cal
75g fat (+ fish oils)
170g protein
30 carb (net)
25 fiber

anybody think keeping the extra fat is worth it, or should i just try the traditional version? I've been fat adapted for about 3 months now, so I am worried about a sudden drop of energy. Also, I've heard around these parts that fat will help curb the insulin spike. (plus it is delicious)

Okay, day one on this is done with. Had no solid food. And it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Hunger wasn't too bad really -- I'd imagine the casein helps there.

I also cut the cream out of my last few shakes because it wasn't handy -- saved a few hundred cals I suppose. We'll see if I can make it through the week, and if I get the results I'm looking for, maybe I will make it a regular part of my schedule.

Will post pictures friday.

haha wow, well that was interesting...

i work a somewhat active job, and today was brutal. the morning wasn't so bad, but the lakc of energy hit me hard around 1-2ish, and it climaxed in a full on head rush.. luckily i had some nuts around, so i'm done with this shake fast, for now. back to regular keto. but it was interesting trying to switch it up...

its the kind of thing i would consider when i have more time to sleep and be less active.

adwill
06-11-2008, 07:13 PM
alright, so back on the regular keto train and loving it more than ever. that shake fast, even though it was something like 40 hours, seemed to shock my body a bit, as I feel I've shed a bit more this week than usual.

I'll update with a picture this weekend so we have a nice 3 week transition on here.

I checked this morning and I hit my target goal of 180#. partyparty. From here on in I want to try to stay as close to this as possible while leaning out and building solid muscle. 6'0 180 is pretty much ideal for me... but there is still work to do.

I'm going to keep on CKD for a little while, but I was curious. Since I am transitioning from a pure cut to a focus muscle building, do you think I should switch to TKD? I'd really appreciate input on this.

stuff i've noticed this week:

- Cuting artificial sweeteners is a lot easier than I thought. The only artificial sweetener I get is the junk they add to ON whey (I think I saw sweeteners in the ingredients, can't remember) and a pre workout energy drink (no sugar). Both these times I want an insulin spike, anyway, so its not a big deal.
- If cutting sweeteners is beneficial or not, I don't know, but I've lost 2 # this week through a 2 day liquid diet and cutting all sweeteners. So its up to interpretation... I'll most likely continue to avoid sweeteners for the time being, we'll see if I plateau.

As of June 14/08, mid day after basketball. Damn is it hot out.

So here's recent news. I went out and bought a decent scale because mine was being questionable -- I always weigh myself two or three times when I do bother to weigh myself, and it kept fluctuating. So anyway, I bought a digital one that is to the decimal point, and so far it has been pretty consistent.

However, unfortunately it seems as I am not at my target of 180 yet. The new scale read 184 this morning. It also gave a BF reading of 15%, which looks low, but whatever, I'll use the differential to gauge progress.. Although the reading is probably tripe. I'll get it done professionally when I am happy with progress.

And while I am still happy with my weekly results, and my bf% continues to drop, I want to get rid of the hanging flab on my stomach as soon as possible. So I am mixing things up a bit.

My current supp stack:
http://s2d2.turboimagehost.com/t/415765_bb_-_10.jpg (http://www.turboimagehost.com/p/415765/bb_-_10.jpg.html)

(Forgot to include - creatine mono from costco)
ON whey
ON casein
Fish Oil/Omega 3 softgels
GNC multi -- I have some animal paks left I reserve for workouts
Diet Redrave -- basically a diet redbull knockoff, no sugar, quick caffeine kick before work outs after a long day. Been noticably useful.
Sweet tarts -- pwo dextrose woo

Today I picked up two new things, hopefully will help me overcome this little plateau:

Amino Vital packs - basically, amino acids in 15g packets. Hopeful it will extend my gym periods.

Lipo6X - This is interesting. I've never been a fan of thermogenics, but I've never tried a real, reputable one. This one has been getting a lot of praise on the supplement boards, and they had only one left at my local GNC, so I snagged it. I'm not quite as caffeine sensitive as I used to be, so I am hopeful I will handle it pretty well.

Recent stuff:

Been pretty spot on with the diet lately.. Yesterday I consumed a little over 2000 cals, went over to a friends house and while they all snacked on junk I brought a few handfuls of almonds... Probably about 400 cals worth.

Been hitting compound lifts in the gym hard lately... Basically, I've started doing legs and back one day (pretty tiring with squats/deads) arms/chest another day, and plyometrics/abs on my final day. On off days I either do only cardio, or basketball or something to get my HR going.

I don't think I've missed a gym day in a month -- I get my 3 a week done, and sometimes throw in a fourth for good measure where I just do whatever feels most rested.

Anyway, I don't know if anybody reads this thing, but I'll post another picture next week and we can see just what these new sups do for me.

my goal for tonight is to get a solid night's rest. these stims have got me juiced up something fierce... It is kind of funny, to be honest, I've always been caffeine sensitive. I'm only taking half the rec'd dose and I'm feeling the full effects of it. So maybe I can get the bottle to last twice as long...

I'm sure that not getting a full 8 hours sleep doesn't help, either, though. I've read that without enough sleep your adrenal gland doesn't properly recover, which is one of the things the caffeine stimulates.

Anyway, today was very clean. Had about 2100 cals, maybe a bit less. The pills really curb hunger.

Haven't posted a meal log so I'll update you guys:

6am: 3 eggs cooked in olive oil w/ cheese [aprox 350 cals]
9am: 3 eggs, mayo, salt, pepper [300 cals]
noon: spinach salad with caeser dressing, sliced salami, cheese. [400 cal]
3pm: 1 small can tuna, 2 pepperoni sticks [350]
6pm: ribs, salad [500]
9pm (post-cardio): 30g whey [120]

total: 2120... Probably slightly overestimated, but pretty much right where I want to be.

Cardio today was a jog to the grocery store, picked up some tuna. Thrilling.

Oh, and lately been getting a lot of comments about pretty much everything - weight, muscle, skin, hair.. oh, the benefits of keto. I've given up on explaining the low-carb lifestyle to coworkers, though. They look at me like I'm from the bottom of the sea and emerging to steal their children.

kind of funny story for today. Working with a coworker, trying to fix her computer's mangled video, she asked me if I'd lost a lot of weight from last year. I said about thirty pounds.

She was amazed and asked how... When I said I eat more often and exercise more often, she seemed dissapointed. I think she wanted a quick and easy fix. Poor thing.

Other than that, pretty average day. I'm up to 3 pills a day and having no severe side effects, which is good. I always end up a bit groggy come 2pm, but I think that is mostly a side effect of working at a factory.

Diet was pretty spot on today, as well. My cals were probably a bit lower than usual, likely around 16-1700, as I didn't work out today and I slept through dinner.

I'm finding that trying to get by on 6-7 hours of sleep a night is biting me in the ass about once a week, where I just succumb to afternoon sleeps... either way, I'll have more energy in the morning, so I'll just force myself to get active then, maybe some abs stuff or going for some morning cardio, which I haven't done in a little while. Then its back to the gym tomorrow night, no excuses.

Definition is definitely going up. I'm noticing the veins in my arms beginning to pop a bit more, especially during workouts. Chicks dig veins though, right? Haha.

Will post pic/stats as of Friday morning.

hmmm, what to add today... I felt perfectly fine on the pills, I assume I am completely adjusted to the caffeine spikes. This is good. I will try a recommended dose tomorrow.

chatted up with the cute girl at the gym. thats always a plus...

oh, i tried some new plyometric-esque exercises today... worked really well. mostly abs stuff, but one thing stood out in particular. basically, its an assisted handstand using the wall... you just start in a pushup, and walk yourself up the wall until you are as close to vertical as you can hold. Then I just held it until failure. It really worked my arms and abs something fierce.

I am sure I drew some odd looks, but whatever -- it was kind of fun mixing it up a bit.

I did that and the usual -- elevated pushups, reg pushups, crunches, burpees, wall-assisted ab stuff, etc. was pretty good.

its friday tomorrow. yay. i doubt i'm gunna carb up this weekend, but i might binge a meal or two... we'll see. i'm gunna say no, for now.

offtopic: big day tomorrow for any southern ontario'er... the leafs are drafting a first round pick for the first time in what feels like decades... i'm pretty excited to see what they pull off. cheers to any other leafs fans out there in body building world.

[Weekly Update]

Weighed in this mornin' at 180.6. Last weigh in was 14/08 at 184. So 7 days later, I'm down 3 more lbs. Since I haven't dropped more than 1 or 2 in a week since I began this regimen, I'm gunna go ahead and suggest that Lipo6X does, in fact, work. Pretty well.

Thats about 3 weeks difference... nothing over-the-top, but definetely a bit more definition and gaining some muscle.

wonder how the next 3 will go.

havent updated in a while so here goes:

past few days have been pretty standard, except my office job lately has involved lots of walking around in a very hot factory... which is likely burning a ton of calories. I'm pretty tired when I get home, so I haven't lifted since Monday maybe. This kind of sucks, but unless I nap at 4 or 5 when I get in, then go at 7, its not going to happen.

I've also been hungrier than usual, obviously a factor of being more active, so I am probably up to around 25-2600, and I probably ate close to a third of that in nuts today.. almonds and macadamias... so good.

However, I have been dragging myself out to play basketball, and that is a workout in itself. Played for around 2 hours today, probably an hour yesterday. Been a lot of fun. Its nice noticing improvements in sports and stuff when you are just in better shape --jumping faster, better body movement, better coordination, strength...

Anyway, I'll probably weigh in and picture tomorrow morning, so we'll see how things are going.

five-week progress video. I am glad I took weekly pictures -- this thing looks cool. It'll be even awesomer after five more weeks of keto.

Weighed in at 181.8, so up 1 lb from last week. Not really anything to get worked up about, as I am sure it is mostly just weird water or muscle, or just fluctuations with everything... Either way, stalled progress means time for a carb up... Sooo...

Today is friday, and its been about 10 days since my last carb up... So I've had a very dirty carby day. Had some vector cereal in the morning, a muffin at work, battered fish for lunch from the cafeteria, and some chips right now. I'm off to the gym and I'm gunna try to full body and hit everything I can.

It'll be back to keto tomorrow, but I'm gunna enjoy the night tonight, for sure.

happy canada day, fellow canucks.

haven't posted in a while, but not too much to say. Carb up day was crazy. Later in to the evening I was starting to get some whacked out responses to the sugar -- felt noticeably shakey, anxious for a little while. Go figure. Anyway, its good to be eating fat again.

My new (hypothetically very achievable) goal is to get under 180 (i'd settle for 179.9) by next friday, for personal reasons involving the opposite sex. I'd like to head in to the weekend with as much confidence as possible, and that'd do the trick.

Anyway, starting tomorrow, I will try to keep this thing regular for a few weeks. I'll fitday everything again, just to keep macros in check.

today:

2029 cals
152 f
22 c
157 p

http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=adamhwilk

works out to 67/3/31

I need to eat a bit more. This is mostly due to my lunch going bad, having been left in the work fridge for a day too long... Guess there was a power failure, or something. Anyway, it was a real nasty surprise. what a waste of perfectly good chicken. :(

Work out went alright, considering I was low on cals.

This morning, my water weight is all gone from the weekend and I'm basically at where I was before. Lets see if things keep progressing after a nice supply of glucose.

edit: and i'm just gunna go ahead and say -- i have no idea why my images keep bouncing in and out. maybe i should just use the bb.com uploader...

Still around the 181 # mark, but progress is apparent. I'm gunna start using the BB.com uploader and tracker to make this all more convenient. I never bothered exploring bodyspace before this, for some reason...

Anyway, naturally, when I vow to stay on top of fitday and stuff, I get bombarded with overtime, I worked 20 extra hours in the past 3 days, so I didn't have much time for anything other than work or sleep.

But I will be collecting a nice extra 350 bucks on tuesday. :)

On the diet front, not too much to report on -- except that I need groceries. In an effort to eat fewer nuts, I am going to try to reintroduce avacados and more (non-canned) fish, because I just don't get enough of em.

I also recently managed to get my hands on some virgin coconut oil. Tastes a little strong for me, but I'm gunna try mixing it with some PB and whey for a small pre-workout energy boost. The mixture I made last time tasted pretty good. We'll see how it goes.

Good progress man!

Any mental fogginess/confusion when you started?

I find that my biggest obstacle.

bah, been forever since i updated this.. time to get back on track.

Good progress man!

Any mental fogginess/confusion when you started?

I find that my biggest obstacle.

thanks!

the first week or so, yeah, i felt a bit slower than usual. to be honest though, that was so long ago, its hard to recall. i DO remember having a hard time focusing on studying, since i started in march, around when i was doing exams. i upped fish oils and it seemed to help, and a week later i was doing perfectly fine.

progress stuff

i'd be lying if i said it seems like it isn't slowing down, because it certainly does. i've been about 180-181 for a few weeks. However, I'm trying not to get down about this -- my lifts continue to increase, every few weeks. Actually, i haven't taken a picture in a while, so I'll do one of those today after the gym and I'll see how I compare.

but i think i'm going to try keeping lifts as they are -- 3 times a week -- and upping cardio to every morning. I really think if I just get my lazy ass up at 5:15 instead of 5:30, and put that extra effort in in the morning, I'd see some solid results... Especially when I have lazy days at work.

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/photo/data/500/july2908.jpg

as of july 29/08: 180

unofficially started: late feb at 210

bout four months in, and better progress than i'd seen in years (literally, the 40/40/20 lifestyle worked for me, but it took me two years to see the kind of results im seeing with keto)

didn't really imagine i'd stick with it this long, but hey, go figure. its been a fun trip. i'm down from a tight 36 jean to a loose 32, and i am seeing lines for the first time since i was like 10 years old. I've cut a ton of fat off my arms, revealing some popping veins, which is good motivation to keep lifting hard. This past week I've finally started to see some real separation on my chest. My vert has about doubled from where I was half a year ago, but my jump was pathetic then. I'm more athletic, personable, confident, and my breath smells more like meat.

regrets: working 10-14 hour days makes sticking to a routine seem impossible, and while I rarely if ever cheated myself out of ketosis, I did skip too many workouts. I feel as if this upcoming year is going to be killer as far as packing on muscle goes, because my class life of 16-20 hours a week is much more managable than 50+ commuting.

oh, and i regret not buying everything -- all supps, anyway -- from bb.com. what a waste of money, gnc, random vitamin stores, etc. ah well.

anyway, here's lookin' forward to the next 4!
