I am new to the site and have just recently started lifting on a regular basis this year. I have been benching with dumbbells when this problem first started. As I get to the end of my sets I get a tingling sensation on the outer side of my left elbow. There is no pain and the best I can explain it is like a bug crawling on my elbow. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to make it stop?
Thanks

maybe it has something to do with one of the major nerves running through your arm. does it kind of feel like what happens when you hit your funny bone? which is actually your ulnar nerve.

Its sort of like the "funny bone" feeling but it is very localized to the elbow region. Im thinking it might be a smaller nerve. Is this something i should get checked out or just lay off benching for a week or so and hope it goes away on its own.

truthfully, i dont know.
maybe there is some rubbing going on due to inflamation of the surrounding tissue near one of those nerves. whether or not this could cause damage to the nerve, i couldn't tell you.
obviously nerves are very sensitive so if there was damage going on currently it would probably hurt quite a bit.
i would talk to a doc if you really become concerned about it.
just out of curiosity, how long have you been lifting and how long have you been having this problem?

Ive been lifting fairly consistantly for about a year now and the problem has just started within the past week. It started after a particularly more strenuous tricep workout so I am thinking (and hoping) that it may just be some inflamation on one of those smaller muscles. Im a college student with midterms and spring break coming up so I am going to just avoid any chest / tricep workouts for the next 10-14 days. With any luck when I get back to school the problem will be gone
