based on the calculation with the info out there since im about 195 after a bulk now i should be eating about 3000 cals to maintain and 2500 to cut but the only times im really active is when either im lifting or doing cardio in the morning. The thing Im trying to figure out is if right now im eat 1600 cals but still consuming enough protien to maintain lean mass shouldnt i be burning fat like crazy? I tried going up to 2000 before and still was having issues burning it off. btw my diet is 50/40/10 on keto. Should i bump it up to atleast 1800?

How long have you been doing keto? If you just started then I dont think that is going to work. 10% carbs is too high for starting the diet. You want to have as little carbs as possible for at least 2 weeks (maybe even 3) so your body can get fat adapted. I would wait until it has fat adapted until adding more carbs. 1800 calories is too little. Get in at least 2200. Once again, when you are fat adapted you can cycle your calories from day to do but don't just stick it out at 1800 calories.

actually looking at my food log its about 5% . coming to about 10-20g of carbs a day. so if right now im eating 1600-1700 then is my body holding on to fat because it considers that starving?. I always figured for my low activity lifestyle that i was eating just the right amount.Crap is driving me nuts

Then yeah.....your calories are too low. I know it seems odd but eating at 2200 calories vs 1800 calories you will lose more weight on the 2200. But 1600 that you are eating right now is definitely too low

See this is where I've had some questions because almost everyone swears by 10x body weight. I weigh 170 so that would mean 1700 right? But I bike 10 miles 4-5x a week and do resistance training 3x a week. So I'm not sure if thats high enough myself. However I felt like 2000 was too much.

i always thought it was 15X bodyweight.
The whole point of the matter is everbody always says its cals in vs out so no matter if im eating to low of cals shouldnt the wieght loss be achesived either way?

There are so many calorie requirement calculators its hard to know which one to follow. This is the guideline I follow. I take in 1 gram of protein for lean body mass. If bulking I chose the lean body mass I want to be at. Then figure that as 30% of my calories. I then eat the rest fat. The trace carbs in foods turn out to be around 5%. I use my exercise to make the deficit I need.
For instance. To make the math easy I will choose 150 pounds of lean mass. That would mean I take in 150 grams of protein. That is 600 calories. 600 calories is 30% of 2000. So 2000 calories is what I would try to target.
Is this the right way to do it? I dont know. It just made sense to me and has worked. I have lost weight a with the formula.

You and your logic backed by quantitative results. For shame this is BB.com we want unresearched conjecture man.

guy loses a lot of weight on a 1600 hundred calorie diet and is 1 inch taller same weight but i think i have more muscle mass then him but im basically doing the exact routine as him except i added the keto diet. He increases muscle mass. same for this other guy named johnstone who actually was at about 1500 cals a day. lol frustrating
