i got one of these and i was wondering, why there was 2 bars on it....one farther back and one closer to the front. i figured out that i can bench 20 pounds more if i do it from the front then in the back...so if you could tell me what this does.

If you want help you should post a link to it. Don't expect people to go looking for it themselves.

^ what the above poster said.

is it a smith machine or something? maybe ones a free weight bar and ones a smith? dont know if thats possible though.

or is it one of those where if you need a spot you press your foot on something and it lifts it?

the gym in my area (future fitness) has a self spotting bench not sure if the same one your talking about but the way it works is by touch when you let go of the bar it locks into place from when you let go of the bar. I would never suggest this type of equipment cause what if it fails to work one time you want to play with some heavy ass weight. it could be disastrous

Is it this bench? If so the front handle is for benching and the other is for the bar attachment for squat\curl\row\shrug etc.

You have to unclock the bench and swivel it to the left or right. Then attach the bar attachment on the front handle you then hold onto the other handle while squatting. I bought one a couple of months ago (the pic was sent to me by the seller). I havent used it yet cause it only accepts standard plates, need to purchase an olympic sleeve adapter for it. Here is another pic:
