Lake Erie no longer allows keeping any Bass during the spawn here in Ohio..A very good thing!

That is a good idea - I know too many people who "fish" for the larger ones only during the spawn (sight and foul hook) - makes me sick.
I just noticed your rep power - that is very impressive.

There was an old boy that got caught at a local Bass tournament for filling one up with small rocks...He claimed it was a Rock bass but they didn't fall for it..
Last year he got caught shooting ducks before sunup..They took his boat/trailer, truck, all his guns, and fined the hell out of him..
He no longer hunts or fishes...That's Karma or payback depending on how you look at it.

Damn that is one hell of a fish.
I remember when I was a kid in New York, I fished at Rock bottom dam. It is near crowleys milk company. Anyways that was the place for spawning fish. I would go there during spawn and catch the biggest fish in my life. I always let them go after I caught them. I was like 10 years old ,Knew no better. I remember the walleyes would spawn there as well, I could catch 20 in an hours time, Again I let them all go. Those were the days. They actually did bite on anything threw in front of them.

I really don't think they were cheating - there is no law or regulation that said they have to release it - they really were concerned for the fish's safety and they didn't have to admit it was foul hooked.

Yeah I think they shouldn't count Pre-Spawn/Staging fish for records anyway...
That fish "Empty" is probably around the 21-22 pound range...
Records of PreS fish shouldn't hold up the same...
It's a much bigger feat to catch a heavy fish in August than it is a PreS fish...
