You know the funny thing about deer is that way too many people defend these things because they're cute. Unlike another frequently cuteness-defended animal, the harp seal, which has absolutely no negative impact on our society, the deer kills many people per annum, and does a huge amount of damage to personal property. They lack enough natural predation so they overbreed, and they feed on crops and gardens, further inconveniencing humans. To top it all off, they are extremely lean, and their meat is plentiful and venison protein has a high biological value, like beef.
Nevertheless, whenever I am with people, and I fake a "boom headshot" at a deer, invariably at least one person has to go "awwwww, you're mean." What's so mean about an instant kill on an excellent tasting public nuisance? Morans. They'd probably stand there cooing at a big cuddly polar bear while it eats them alive, because they saw it on a Coke commercial.
