Whoa! Campy record, huh? That's some pretty serious equipment.
I have a Trek 5200 myself. Not a big fan of steel.

Kona Cinder Cone - Probably the best mountain bike for the money. Rear XT, Hayes disc brakes all for under a grand.
Giant OCR 1 - Very good starter road bike. Under 20 lbs.

Your 5200 is a great ride. Carbon has come a long way since the early Exxon Graftek from back in the late 70's, that's for sure. I'm sure the ride is better now too -- those early ones were very tempermental. A few of them fell apart (bonded lugs that would fail).
Price seems to be more reasonable now too. If I'm remembering correctly they were the price of a small economy car back then.
I built the Croll up with Campy from NOS parts, a few carbon (bottom bracket for instance), and the rear deraileur is a very rare record "graphite". Paid an arm and a leg for it on Ebay, but it was new in the box, and I wanted to have one or two conversation pieces on it.
If you ever get a chance, try the c-series 531 reynolds steel (compared to the "regular" 531). It's their thinnest gauge double-butted steel tubing, and really gives you the sensation of disappearing below you (along with being very responsive). I don't think there are too many production (off the shelf) bikes with it -- mostly used by individual framebuilders for custom frames. But if you ever see one in a shop, take it out for a spin and see what you think.
I'm an old time-trailist from the mid-70's to mid-80's and worked for the publishing company of Bicycling Magazine for 15 years. I blew up to 311 pounds in the 90's and managed to get myself back down to 196 a few years ago. I'm hoping to return to competition later this year (time trials again). bb.com (and folks on the board) were a big help getting this fat rear end into shape again.

Thanks never2late.
Well it is not as nice as your custom made bike :)
I have a mix of dura ace and ultegra components on it. Actually that is a pic of a bike for sale on Ebay. I have the exact same one (wish they had offered a different color but oh well) but mine has the regular aero bars with brakes. That one doesn't look like it has any brakes lol. Mine has the HED disk rear but I also have another set of wheels incase it is windy.

I used to be more into biking, and have worked at shops for years. I actually rode across the country when I was 17. Now I wish I were still back in the good ol' days.

Fixed gear has been really hot. Almost like a cult following, especially in the urban areas. I've only rode fixed at a velodrome. I'd like to put one together for roller-riding.
I always had a dream of riding cross-county ever since I was young. My wife and I were going to back in the 70's. Had the bikes, panniers (the classic eclipse transcontinentals) and all the gear -- but a pregnancy test came back positive. Then another. And another. The rest of the story is probably self-explanatory! Still got a few good years left -- and the kids are grown and out on their own now -- so who knows!

Yeah, it's definitely big in urban areas. It's a good light, fast, simple to maintain, easy to lock up and inexpensive way to get around in any place with high bike theft.

Well they say you don't stop cycling when you get old; you get old when you stop cycling. So I suppose it's never2late!

got a, i think, one off cannondale f3000 from the 98 1/2 production line. it was a showroom piece in the factory and i haven't heard of or seen one like it since. they didn't officially produce that number designation in a hardtail that year to my knowledge.
color is the stinger fade blk/yllw
full xtr components with the brilliant rapid rise rear and bar end shifter.
cranks, stem, seat, bar, pedals, hubs are all coda 9000/tarantula(crank).
thompson seat post
magural raceline d's in yellow.
x-517's for hoops, going to switch to something a little more stiff for my overloaded ass this coming season
got those pretty hutchinson mosquito yellow/black compound tires on it. yeah, i went overboard with the theme of the bike. :)
i need the hedshock serviced before this season comes up and i need to drop about another 10-15lbs before i'll feel comfortable on the sucker again. i'd like to get a newer cannondale with the stiffer frame set, but i just can't give this bike up. it may be a one off(or not) but i ride it hard when i can. :) can't just let my nice stuff sit there and look cool, i've got to beat the piss out of it.
