That is a great idea! I think boating is a great recreational activity for families. Do you get to go often? How long has your dad been into boating? My brother has a boat with a cabin underneath--not nearly that big but it is alot of upkeep.
My dad has had a boat since he was about 25-30 or something, and he is now 55. He started out with a small 24 feet sailboat and then he has built his way up to the 45 feet he is buying now wich is his 5'th boat...
My dad and mom goes almost every weekend in the summer, cous the harbour is only 1.5 houre from us. They also go away for 4 weeks druing the holiday spending all the time sailing arounde in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Last summer they also went to Germany..
I used to go on those trips every year when I was younger, but now I work alot during the summer and travell with my friends, so last year I wasent with them one time.. It gets alittle boring after a while, but I'll go with them this year for sure a cupple of times checking out the new one :D

Wow, that boat is nicer than my house lol. :)
It really looks incredible. Is there a shower in it? (I'm not even sure a boat could have one?)

I could easily stay on a boat for 4 weeks just enjoying the water, fishing,snorkling....take a few good friends,family......ahhh the life....would need a small workout room of course;) then you are set! Congrats to your dad and hope ya'll have lots of happy times.
yeah.. We usualy sail together with someone we know.. They have a son that is one year younger than me, but he dosent go anymore, so then it gets boring in the long run for me, cous I like to stay active and not just sit arounde all day... But I'll bring a friend a cupple of times I think :)

lol cours it got a showe :p
The last one we had (are selling) had two showes in doors, and one hose outside... But the showers arnt like a shower in the house.. you just pull for a bathtub curtain inside the "bathroom" and shower there,.. so you have to dry it up afterwords :p

Hmm--you know how to treat a lady right;)
I am somewhat of a hopeless romantic. :o
Not that it's done me a damn bit of good when all the women my age are interested in asshats that are good looking but have little-to-no personality.

We went to take a look at the boat today, and WOW... just WOOOWWWW that boat is awesome... it looks just like in the pictures, and even better on the outside couse its so wide, so it looks like a friggi'n luxus yacht :D
And I was really suprised by that there actually is a shower cabinet inside one of the two bathrooms, I've never seen that in a boat before :D

How rough is the sea where you sail? Like in knots what's the wind like?

hmm.. Well the wind is usualt somewhere between 0-12 meters per second... Its not very rough at all, but you can of course finde bad weather sometimes...
One time wich I remember is when my family and I were sailing across the outer Oslo fjord from Sweden back to Norway... The trip took about 6 houres and the whole way we had 9-12 feet waves from the side and a strong wind... It really sucked lol... The right side deck was down touching the water all the time so its really rough sitting like that in 6-7 houres

Its really my dad who is the one that loves sailing... I have a bit of a split opinion on sailing:
Sailing is cool when:
- Your with friends.
- Its perfect weather and you get some speed.
- When you really have to work to get the best out of the wind and the boat.
- When the weather is great and you have some beers and the sun is shining and you can lay on deck with and go swimming with friends
The problem here is that I'm not allowed to go on our boat alone. I can somewhat understand that, but I cant even go and stay on it over the weekend when I'm just at the harbour, cous my parents think I will only be getting drunk etc.. But I would LOVE to have my owne boat and bring my friends.
Sailing is boring when:
- Your only with your family for 24/7 doing nothing, just "relaxing"
- Lousy wind when you barly move forward
- When its raining
- When the sea gets to rough
- When your just going from one place to another using the autopilot and just sit there waiting to arrive to the next place.

Hey Norweigen i think its greatthat your family has outings like this. My family has rarely had them due to my dad working al the time.
Its sounds amazing dude, and i think its really nice you seem to have a cool family that does stuff together. I believe even little things such as going out together for a meal can be beneficial for a family. We rarely have the time to do that with all of us juggling work and stuff....
Makes me wanna buy a boat someday....

Yeah when I think about I have been very lucky.. I have TONS of good memories from all the vacations I've had on the boats we have had during the years.. But now I am getting alittle to old going on summervacation with mom and dad and I want to do new stuff like travell with friends going to new places and stuff like that.. Couse the places we go on the boat I have been xx noumber of times before, but I will be sure to get in a cupple of trips between work and other stuff.
When I think about it I really want a boat too.. Just a 24 feet sailboat or something to go out with friends and stuff.. that would be great...

That harbor picture looked pretty cool. I really liked the photo from above. Some of the water looked really green.
How hard is it to learn to sail? I knew a girl that lived on Long Island (NY) and her family had a boat but I never got to see it. It would be pretty cool if you were allowed to just go take it out with your friends and party lol.

You can sail out to the ocean from here, so its half freshwater and half saltywater.. But we dont have our boat here, we drive 1.5 houre south to the harbor wich lies right by the ocean

If your going to be nice with the engine I would say about 7-8... If your sailing about the same... Depends on weather and current in the water
