Not to bring fitness into this forum ;) but I just started jogging at lunch. Where I live we have a nature trail through the city called the Greenway. It's about 8 or 10 miles total; however, the section I run on is about 4 or 5 miles.

Anyway, it's pretty common to spot deer while jogging. Last week I stopped and watch two deer...one was just laying down while the other was munching.

Today, I saw a small snake. He's getting an early start! It had a diamond shaped head and the coloration looked like a young Timber Rattlesnake. I looked...said Hi...and continued on my way.

I love jogging on the Greenway...OK, maybe I don't love jogging....but the Greenway is cool!

Thats cute.....that sure makes jogging more fun to see nature like that......instead of a treadmill!

Yep! I used to run on a treadmill. I have a TV mounted on the wall in front of it. I used to tell people..."Hey! I treadmill is just fine. It's not THAT boring.". Now I'm hooked on the Greenway.

I'm patiently waiting for the winter weather to break so I can begin cycling outdoors. Sleet and freezing rain all day today. I can almost feel the sun, blue skies, and fresh air.

One benefit of living in the South....Winter (what there is of it) breaks early. :)

Ashla: in my teens I used to water ski at Allatoona 3 or 4 times a week. Ever been to Ackworth beach?

When I'm on a fishing trip... Camping or out at a cabin, we often fish early... Come in for lunch when the bite slows down... Then go for a hike in the afternoon, which in the regions we camp means a lot up and down of forest bluffs... Sometimes we even play Bocce Ball in the forest. Then we go out for evening prime time fishing...

All told with the hiking and splitting a Cord of wood a day, I get more of a cardio workout than I ever do at home!

I agree.... especially when I turkey hunt. Sometimes you gotta move and move fast. Going up a hillside that is straight up and down as fast as you can.....phew...LOL!

It's amazing how much more fun walking or jogging on a trail is compared to a track or treadmill. You can actually get somewhere on the trail instead of running in place or around in a circle.
