What kind of preparation both physically and mentally must I do to get myself ready?

First off you need about $65,000. You just can't climb it by yourself, You have to hire a guide. There are only a few times a year you can actually climb the mountain. You would have to be in great physical shape in my opinion. Menatlly, even stronger. I take it you are a mountain climber, if not I would start off a little bit smaller and see how it goes. I think alot of cardio would be the key, and as mental toughness, that comes within. These are just my informed opinions. Good luck though.

You might get to be a part of a special group if you climb everest. It's that group of people that have died up there and the bodies are still there year after year frozen in time and looking hideous.

You need to practice having a frozen smile just incase you die up there and get left..Get it a frozen smile...Sometimes I just crack me up.:D

Yeah you'll need to have years of Mountain climbing experience under your belt before you do this too...you also have to have a prime respiratory system and be in extremely good condition. Good luck though I hope your dream comes true

Wow now that is some strong goals. I honestly can't even imagine the disipline as self-will you will need in order to obtain your goal. Years and years to studying and practicing about that climate and that mountian. Intense muscle endurance and intense mental anguish, you will need both sir in order to make it.

Just curious but how old are you and what kind of mountian climbing experience do you have?

I want to climb Everest in a few years as well. It depends on what kind of Mountaineering backround you have at this point. If you have none, head to the Cascades, Wrangell-St. Elias Natl. Park or the Alaska Range and do some climbing there. Climb Denali before Everest, if you can survive the weather on Denali you can survive it anywhere on the Earth. It's got the coldest temperatures, etc.

Hey, can you recommend any mountains that could be hiked in North America without having to get the heavy duty gear? Moreso just climbing boots. Non-exp climber.

Well, you really don't need heavy duty gear period. You could just wear your whole wardrobe to stay warm...but nobody wants to carry that so that's when the huge down parkas come in.

Without having to get the heavy duty gear, you can hike anywhere on Appalachian Trail, and you would probably be pretty safe hiking in Colorado in the Aspen area. They have trails leading up the ski mountains and surrounding mountains that you could dayhike in the summer. Anywhere really rural in the Rockies would require a decent amount of experience.
