I live in the mountains in Idaho. I used to have an Articat 454 Bearcat 4x4. I could drive right out of my garage into the hills. It was a great climber. I used it to plow my driveway but eventuall sold it.
It was decent rig, but I think they should stick to snowmobiles.

I got a Polaris Sportsman 500 HO DU Edition. Man I love that thing!

Some of friends have the Sportsman. Its a very nice rig. Selectable 2 or 4wd, four way independant suspension (my bearcat had a solid rear axel), better clearance, and an automatic.
I would have preferred teh Sportsman to my Bearcat. Longer seat makes it easier to carry a passenger as well. If I but another ATV it will likely be a used Sportsman.

Raptor 660R. What is that...like a small volkswagon?
My 454 Bearcat weighed in at around 600lbs, what about the Raptor?

9 years Field Artillery. Started out as a 82C Field Artillery Surveyor, got my bar eventually and was a Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader. Best days of my life, but the enlisted had the most fun I always thought.

OMG! I have a late 80's Suzuki 185 in my garage! I can't get the damn thing started and I burnt up the reverse years ago. It didn't have the clearance or hill climbing ability that my Bearcat did, but I could still climb a pretty steep hill. I just stood up and leaned way over the handle bars to keep it from flipping back. The trick was to keep the weight distributed properly to the rear wheels since it was two wheel drive.
I have flipped many time on it, but when I fall back with it on top I just push it off with my legs and let it roll down. Pretty rugged little thing.

I just rode it around the farm, on the gravel road, and down in our timber. It was a fun little bugger, but that Polaris 250 was way better. I like the automatic gearbox and foot plates instead of pegs.

When I first burnt out the reverse -- well before I purchased my Bearcat -- I took it to the local ATV dealer for a quote. He just kinda looked at me with a blank stare. "You actually want to fix it?"
He said i'd be better off putting the money into a 250. My neighbor had a pair of 250's and they were a blast to ride, light and fast.

I've never been a big fan of hunting 4wheelers so I'm always looking for a new racing 4wheeler.

I trained at Fort Sill in 85 when the Army still had Gamma Goats. Talk about an ATV!!! That's not a trailer, that is a 6 wheel drive beast.

My favorite billet as an officer was FDO. The gun chiefs would let get dirty on the M109's and be one of the guys. Now THAT is fun.

have you checked out used 2003-04 ltz-400, you can pick one up for about 2800 with a fullpipe, jetted, and throw on a rev box and just do the suspension if you plan on racing hard, if not you can leave the suspension, those bikes have a whole lot of bottom end also....
lol is that a 250r?
Nope, looks like it is the yamaha tri-z 250, equivalent of the honda 250r.
As to the original question, I owned a 1986 quadsport 230 and a 1994 300ex when I was younger...I hope I'm going to be able to buy a banshee this summer. Now that I'm 80 pounds more heavy, I need something really fast (Anyway, my 2 first quads were slow even when I was 120 pounds)

I took the headlight off when I bought it and put a piece of aluminum with holes in it. It worked well because it likes to heat up. It is .080 over on the bore, head milled .020,ported and polished,11:1 compression. It hauls ass but shakes parts loose like crazy.

I used to own a Yamaha 350 warrior. I sold that and bought a Suzuki 250 racer. This was all many years ago. I still own the racer, but it is at my parents house in PA. Can't really ride it up her in Boston.
