I boat in saltwater. I have a 17' Mako with a 115hp fourstroke merc. that my dad and I rebuilt to perfection. That is, until the stringers broke. I also have a 1998 Sead-Doo GTX Limited. That little thing is a blast. I've gotten it up to 62mph. My dad had a Wellcraft 290 Coastal with twin 225 Yamaha Fourstrokes.

I just signed the paperwork the other day for this:
http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/index.cfm?boat=1974
Only I got the 2005 model, that they were trying to clear out for 2006's.
It's not a Big water or sea boat, but it fits all my boating needs.
***
Funny thing... I called my insurance agent yesterday to get re-rated...
Get this... He found me a deal, for Multi-unit coverage on boat and car... It re-rated me... I end up saving $470 a year on Car Insurance... and the boat insurance will end up costing me $158 a year.
So the reality is that by getting a boat and insuring it, I save $312 a year on Insurance.
Note the real kicker is that to get the deal you have to have a record that is spotless for 5 years... Which my record is!
So all those years of practicing safe driving are now paying off I guess...
I think he also rated me for being 30, as I'll turn 30 during the duration of the insurance cycle.

Damn it... I pick up my boat in 4 hours... The excitement, which wasn't that bad yesterday has built up and now it's killing me...
It's supposed to be 50 degrees here on Saturday... Me thinks I will find myself sitting in the boat in the yard drinking beer. Maybe I'll tie an acorn onto a line and see if I can catch that pesky squirel!

Damn... I just got a call from them, that due to a shipping delay, and another boat show this weekend that they won't have it ready for me to pick up until NEXT MONDAY!
Friggin' *******s... The boat is 75 miles away... I'll go pick the damn thing up myself, they can give me the spare tire and I'll mount the damn thing...
Not like I was going to use the boat this week... But still... By the time I get the boat it will have been 5 weeks since I started the process of buying the damn thing.
You know you go and make a big purchase like this, and a guy tends to get excited and wants to get his hands on it, just to check it out, and possess it...
So far it just feels like I'm playing a fun game of dicking around with paperwork, credit applications, and speculating about what Boat ownership would be like.
One more rescheduling and I'm going to chew someone a new *******.
Based on the delays and poor communications I'm definitely not taking my boat to them for winterizing... Just for whatever is applied in my free service and warranty package.

Damn, that sucks. I hate waiting for things. I get antsy just waiting for my Playboy magazine to arrive every month. I can't imagine how bad it would be waiting for something as big and cool as a new boat.
I don't have pics of any of mine at work.
28' bayliner cuddy cabin, 1998 with a single 350 gasoline v8. The back up is a 55 hp seapro outboard we keep in a cradle in the engine compartment. Full head, short galley, 100 gallons of fresh water, sleeps 6 comfortably or 8-10 crammed everywhere and walking all over each other. Ratheon bottom machine and gps.
18' Stratos fishnski with an evinrude 90hp outboard. 2 little toy bottom machines, the one at the console has speed and gps. 2 livewells, ski locker, rod lockers, removeable fishing seats, etc. it has everything I could imagine - the previous owner was anal.
16' Heavy duty all welded alumicraft with a 25hp four stroke. This is my baby - I built it myself from the empty hull up. Hummingbird bottom machine and gps, three batteries, trollig motor, 1 livewell, 1000gph bilge, storage locker that has a seat on top, every connection is sealed marine hardware and every wire is in a loom, headlights with short range and long range bulbs. This swamp toy was built to hunt hogs and I've had a blast in it.

fishing boat?
Yep, it's design purpose is fishing, though it does have the hooks to make a ski yolk... And with the 50 horse I could easily pull a tube... It's debateable if I could pull a skier... On the one hand it has 4 lifting strakes, a good and fast deadrise for it's size and a top end (Supposedly) of 26-27 MPH... So I could probably pull an experienced skier, but a novice would struggle with the minor lag getting started...
So it's more of a Fish n' Tube than a Fish n' Ski.
Though at the current time I'm all about just using it as a fishing boat.

I know... I spent all weekend excited about picking up the boat... People would call me on the phone, and it was my number one topic... Gushing about the boat to my girlfriend until she was sick of hearing about it, getting my Dad all excited because I'm going to take him fishing...
And now I just have to wait a week... And then go through the old "So I thought you said you were getting the boat... Where's the boat... Gosh didn't you get that boat yet?"
WTF?
I feel like a kid on Christmas Day who's been promised a new puppy only to open the box and find a suffocated little animal with it's bloated tongue hanging out.
And now I have to wait a week to get another new puppy because the pet store is closed.

The only problem I hav efound about a boat like mine is the lakes I am allowed to use. They have restrictions here on too many lakes. There are only maybe 2 lakes within 80 miles of me that I can use and then there is the river.
The other lakes around me have a 9.9 horse restriction.
Damn that sucks!

There's a bunch of lakes in Northern MN, that have a 40 HP restriction, that I like... I thought about getting the 40 HP, but then I realized that I'd really only use it for like 1 or 2 trips a year so I went with the 50 for the times when I'm on big water.

Now what if you just say bought a 9.9 Kicker and went in that way?

I really have no idea how I would mount a 9.9 on this boat. I would also need to remove the propr off the merc I/O to use it in the water.
My boat has a deck in the rear with a ladder for swimmers, the transom has the outboard portion with no where to install another engine let alone control it.

I paid 6 grand for it used in immaculate shape. the guy has records for every service ever performed on it. The engine was rebuilt a month prior to my purchase.

My stepdad and I bought it for 8000 with a blown engine, leaky windows and ruined upholstery. My mom recovered all the cushions, I went through the wiring and replaced window seals while my stepdad found a 350 from a 2000 z28 and installed it. We have about 11000 in it and probably put 500 in it every year for maintenance. Fuel is a bitch - 300-400 for a fill up and she'll run for about 30 hours if you don't get crazy (15 knots+/-).

6 grand for a 23 footer with a rebuilt engine sounds like a hell of a deal to me .. tell me he didnt give you the trailer in that deal as well? even if you had to buy a trailer on its own that still a hell of a deal

When you get ready to buy one go to the insurance auctions in an area recently ravaged by a hurricane. You may be able to get one really right.
