About a month ago I placed an order online for a few pieces of equipment. Nothing major, just a t-bar row bracket and a few things for grip strength.
I placed the order a little over a month ago. After the first week of not seeing my credit card billed I emailed to inquire the status. They told me that they were working on a shipping quote. Two more weeks went by and I've been emailing and receiving no response. This has been a very strange experience because they haven't even billed me and given me a run around. It's like they forgot my order even existed. So all customers for NYBB.com beware that this can happen. I suspect it's because I'm a Canadian customer and got lost along the way.
My last order with NYBB for sure.

Wow. I'm honestly surprised. I ordered 7 pairs of pro-style dumbell bars from them about 2 months ago and no problems at all. In stock, priced as advertised on the web site, and delivered as expected.
Not disagreeing with you and I will definitely keep it in mind if I order from them again (thanks for the info). Just surprising to me given my recent experience.

NYBarbell is not on my list of favorite vendors anymore. I just can't believe that anyone would voluntarily pay those exorbitant shipping prices and additional gas charge (?). Most of the equipment they carry is second rate anyway and crudely made. Parts are usually missing, pieces are bent and/or dont line up, the packaging is usually falling apart by the time it gets to your house. To hell with 'em. Whenever I need anything now I buy from reliable, quality sources.

Uh-hum...I have had many, many dealings with NYbarbells. I know a bunch of them by first name.
Would not recommend. Better companies out there. ;)

Okay I thought I was the only one, you have to give them credit for the fast shipping though. But yeah my dip unit is wiggly side to side, my squat rack is shaking, my lat attachment when I use it the paint scraps and falls to the floor, I called them about it and they said put some type of glue on it. But they aren't that bad if you see something good at a good price get it, it will be there in time. But I'm tired of buying from there. That's my next question since we're leaving NYBB what's another good online reputable company to buy from? Thanks and God Bless

WWW.Jesupgym.com has always been one of my favorite places to deal with. Check out their E-bay store as well. It's being revised right now, so all the available equipment isn't shown. Even if you don't see what you want, call and speak to Rex, and see if he can get it for you. Their prices are very low on most items, and usually are at your door within 4 or so days from the time your order is placed.

I ordered dip handles and they sent me something to hold plates. When I called they were very confused that there could be a problem, like I ordered the wrong item. (even though the reciept confirmed my story).
They did good shipping a replacement and return slip for the wrong items though.
I'm on the fence as to ordering again.

My o my how it all comes around Smokeater!
I am sure you don't remeber me. I now remember you. You were the only one to ever give me a negative rep point!
Why was this, you may ask? Because of this thread:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=458538
I TOO had a run-in with New York Barbells and was quite dissatisfied with their 'quality'.
I did not realize you were the pain in the ass I had been dealing with until I went in to check my rep points.
It is funny how now that the shoe is on the other foot, you are crying like the little punk-ass baby I always knew you were.

Hey jackass, here is the difference between you and I. I have experience with all 3 peices of equipment I tried to order. I did not buy before I tried them. And most importantly, as I stated, I wasn't charged a dime. You are still stuck with useless equipment you can't return along with the bill.... I'm not. Nice try though.
And you're right, I didn't remember who you were. I don't really remember the thread you posted the link to either. That thread didn't mean as much to me as it obviously meant to you.

I've been looking to get some 65 lbs hex dumbells. Anybody know a good site to order some with money orders? All the sites I've found you need a credit card.

Yeah actually I got a power rack from there a while back and the preacher that came with the bench absolutely sucks, it is all but useless. So I emailed them asking for recommendations on a replacement or something of higher quality which I could buy, and I never got a reply. You'd think they'd care about new business. Maybe they are understaffed or something. I dunno, not my problem. Roll on the alternate URLs....
Yeah and also my kit for the power rack was missing screws, and the lat attachment was missing a part. I had to wait several extra days for these parts to arrive in order to assemble my power rack. Would be no big deal if other people weren't complaining about the same things...

Exactly where did you test TDS equipment in Canada?
I was unaware they had any floor models. Their equipment is made overseas and is sold online only through several retailers. You cannot go to your local fitness store/Dunhams/Dicks etc. to test TDS equipment.
You cover your tracks 'fairly' well.

Yes, and try calling and talking with someone in customer service. Just about as pointless as emailing. My orders/repairs have been forgotten several times.

Who said I tried to buy TDS equipment? You are making some pretty big assumptions. And you know what they say about people who make assumptions. Go crawl back under that hole you've been hiding in.

Thanks. Yea I've seen that, it's just that all the stores I've been to only have dumbells up to 50 lbs. I can't find a place, other than on-line, that carries dumbells over 50 lbs. It's my last resort, even though it's gonna be ridiculously expensive.

Have the stores only had 50lb ones on display or they only have access to dumbbells up to 50lbs? That sounds fishy. When I sold equipment we never stocked anything heavier than a 100lb dumbbell, because it was a waste of floor space, but could order anything up to 200lbs if we wanted to. No extra cost either.
Have you been to fitness equipment specialty stores or to sporting good places where weights are one of the many sportings goods they sell. The key to buying equipment is to go to a place that sells fitness equipment only. Their product lists are usually much longer than what you see on their floors. We used to put about 200 items on our floor but had access to thousands.

Hey thanks for your help, sorry about hijacking your thread. But yea, I've been to sporting good stores only, like "sports authority". I asked if they had anything over 50, and the salesman said that's all they carry. And that was pretty much the end of that convo.
I will definitely try looking for a fitness equipment only store near where I live. Thanks again for the help.

Uh, hey Smoke up your ass, that was a comment that was left for me regarding your lame attacks.
Anyone that reads the referenced thread can see that you are the one who is the hypocrite telling me not to whine when you are in fact the ex-salesman purchasing from an poorly reputed supplier. Did your college education not teach you this?
Smokeass, you are still a twit even 8 months later.
Good luck with your grip strength equipment. ;O
