There's always at least one per gym, right? The guy who overestimates his own potential, then makes a fool of himself when he can't perform.
During a workout last year I was watching this 20 year old blond guy load up a olympic bar for some seated shoulder press action. His tiny girlfriend spotted him as he pressed the 115 pounds a few times with much effort. I returned to my lifting, did a set, then looked back to see he now had 205 pounds loaded up! Judging from his inablity to lift 115 more than 5 times I watched, knowing what was coming was going to be good.
1...2...3! With his girlfriends help, he managed to get the bar off the rest, and above his head. Then it came down, full force, on the back of his neck!
"Pick it up! Pick it up!" He yelled at the girl, who was now laughing.
"What do you want me to do?" She replied.
I watched as he tried to support the weight, and his girlfriend little arms trying to curl 205 pounds. I ran over to his aid and another onlooker helped me pick the bar off his neck. His girlfiend was hiding her laughter, but the other guys around didn't hold back. He didn't look up, just walked out of the gym! Maybe next time, right?

I don't mind sometimes pushing myself on Bench or Leg Presses because even if i cant get the weight up i can control it. Shoulder press is so dangerous if you move the heavey weight wrong and your stabilizers give out. On more shakey movements like that i dont go crazy.

thats funny. i always do my press in the power rack with the safety bars in place to avoid such a situation.

hahah oh man i am laughing so hard.

This moron at my gym did similar, except

HE DID IT WITHOUT A SPOTTER ON THE BENCH PRESS.

this guy was fully accessorized. he had gloves, headphnes to a CD player in a hip pouch. HE WAS ready to go.

does 1 set? somewhat struggles gets through it. I think nothing of that.

Then after i do a set of curls. I turn around to see two guys LIFTING THE BAR OFF him LOl. he only added about 50lbs total.

guy could have been seriously hurt by dropping the bar on his adams apple.

the moron didn't even thank the guys that helped. just walked out.
