Hey guys,

I want to start learning Olympic Weightlifting correctly but I haven't been able to find any gyms/clubs in my area. Does anyone know of any places that teach technique in the Los Angeles area? Specifically the san gabriel valley 626 area code.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks man I appreciate it...most of those locations are a ways away from me though...can't believe there isn't something prevalent in my area :-/

I'll try contacting some of those numbers to see if they know of any places closer to me

Yeah, sorry I didn't bother weeding out the far ones. I just copied all the California locations :) Good luck!

There is a new book out by the UCLA weightlifting coaches Jerzy and Aniela Gregorek called "The Happy Body" they are located in Woodside i believe. You should go to their website of the Same name "The Happy Body" and try to connect with them. They would be a great resource.

I had a heckuva time finding an olympic weight lifting coach in Los Angeles. The list posted by madaozeki was helpful, but out of date - some of the gyms no longer exist. And technique is so important, you want the best coach you can find.

Glen Pendlay recommended calling up USAW and asking for recommendations, and they said Chikara WLC was very good.

It's in Whittier/east LA, near the I-5/I-605 area.
The gym was hard to find, but well worth the effort.
They're legit.

If you can't find a nearby gym, USAW (weightlifting.teamusa.org) keeps a current list of coaches, and they're pretty good with helping you out.

e-coach is always an option..

Such types of the competitions are really helpful for them who are really interested to go ahead in the real competitions. So should organize these regularly.

Sean Waxman has a gym in LA. He's a very high level coach but still takes beginner lifters. Here's his youtube page. http://www.youtube.com/user/seanwaxman
