what fbb has inspired you to become a bodybuilder? has either Tina Lockwood or Bev Francis inpired you?

I'm so old the only female bb I'm familiar with is Cory Everson, and only because of her old fitness show on ESPN II. ;):)

I'm kinda new to this, so I'm not really familiar with the big names in female bodybuilding. I loved the way Cory looked (although she was probably a bit trimmer than she was in her Ms. Olympia days) and that she was still such a girl, if you know what I mean. She was feminine and funny and smart and sexy and in better shape than most of the guys I knew!

Anyway, I've been flipping through M&F and M&F/hers for a few weeks and I'll probably be up on the who's who in the bodybuilding world soon enough. :)

I would have to say for me that it is a toss up between Cory and Rachel McLish. They are both incredible women who never gave up their femininity when competing.

Cory Everson has always inspired me. Whenever another woman tells me she doesn't want to lift weights because she'll get big and masculine looking, I point to Cory. Iam also inspired by the current Ms O, Juliette Bergman. I am 41 and have been lifting weights for 9 mos and seeing a 42 yearold take the title encourages me all the more. If you are "older" and ever get discouraged, just pull up some of the female bbs of the week and you will find successstories from women who started out later than most and look wonderful.

I am 42 and seeing someone like Cory or Juliette is powerful motivation to keep on going even when the youngsters at the gym kid me about being an 'iron granny'!

With age comes wisdom, muscle maturity and experience. ;) Take it to the top Iron Granny.

MsFit...you always say just the right thing at the right time. Thanks so much for the vote of confidence. I must say, I feel stronger now than I did when I was in my 20's. But I've gotta do something about these damned gray hairs creeping in! No way am I ready to go silver, not just yet.

LOL, I'm 31 and not handling it very well. :( I'm going to freak when I see that first gray hair.

Rebecca95833, what are your opinions of Tina Lockwood?

Remember you asked for my "opinion", so I'm clarifying right up front, that this is nothing more than my opinion. I'm from the old school, and have always trained naturally, and hang out with people who train naturally. I can appreciate all the sacrifice and work that goes into building muscle like Tina Lockwood (but it isn't natural). I always thought of bodybuilding as an art form. Remember the statues of ancient Rome and Greece. I'm afraid that Pro bodybuilding has grown away from that concept. What I mean by this is, that I was taught that it is not about size alone, but about balance and symmetry. That the entire body was balanced, The legs were in balance with the upper body, that front and back were symmetrical, that muscle flowed from one part of the body into the next evenly. The human body was a work of art. I have a difficult time thinking of current bodybuilders in this light. I think right now the only place you might find these kind of bodies is in amature natural competition.
