I've yet to see the air shows here. I've moved here about a year ago from Durham. Nice quiet town..but am looking to get back to the city life. Hopefully I'll end up in either Greensboro, Raleigh, or Charlotte. I've never been to Lincolnton before. It's located in the mountains, right?

I wish I could help you out Enkai..don't know too much about the Charlotte area...yet. But I was in your area this weekend. I went to Concord Mills Mall and shopped like crazy!(lol)..
But Enkai, you might want to look in the phone book or on the net about gyms in the Charlotte area. I'm sure there are some awesome gyms there besides the YMCA.
And N'Tense lifter, I passed through Hickory on my way to Morganton. I visited a friend there and from there we met up with another friend in Asheville for the holiday weekend.

Unbreakable, I don't live too far from the intersection of Royal and Jefferson. It's not too far from Goldsboro high.
Hey Pumpedone, Goldsboro is only an hour away(45 minutes if the traffic is right). I come to Raleigh quite a bit....especially during the weekends. I used to live in Garner and loved going into Raleigh during the weekends.

I just joined Peaks Fitness on indepdence blvd. this used to be powerhouse gym, this gym is the ****...it has everything plus some more in there, and the people are great, and the music is awsome to workout to...and the best thing is that it only cost me 150 for a year, thats like 12 bux a month, look out for peaks around NC, they're planning to open 15 new locations around the charlotte area alone.

Ya sometimesits hard to find a good gym the gym I'm at in Chapel hill Kicks a$$ to it's called Millenium, i looked in onto one gym won't say no names about this fitness club but they tried rippin me off process my application without me even signing it i just went in to look around when I was lookin for a gym when I first moved out here. It's a ghetto gym anyway staff sucks equipment sucks feel sorry for the people who got scammed into signing. so if anyones lookin for a gym beware of A C lub FITNESS near carrrboro nc (unfortunatly I dont think I can say their name but its impossed above)
enkai
12-17-2002, 07:14 AM
Yeah, I was going to the YMCA upto now, and that cost me like 140 for 3 months, but now with this i got 5 of my friends to sign up and the guy that runs it gave me another year free, and on top of that i have a buddy that works out at another peaks, and he got life time membership cuz he got like 15 people in...so hopefully if i can get more people in there it'll be good.
darkchile
12-18-2002, 04:38 AM
When I was living in Durham, I was a temporary member of the SPA healthclub.
It's a VERY nice facility but I almost got tricked in signing one of those contracts. I'm glad i read the fine print!
I've heard about Millenium from some ex-co workers of mine and they really like it. If I lived in that area that's where I would go.
I go to the YMCA but am getting very tired of the equipment there. I wish they had hammer strength machines. When I move out of Goldsboro, one of the first things I will do is find a gym that has more equipment.
enkai
12-18-2002, 08:29 AM
Darkschile - lookout for peaks fitness, they plan to open up about 15 clubs in the area, probably on around you aswell, they're good...no contract, 150 a year, can't beat that
darkchile
12-18-2002, 09:11 AM
That would be ideal!!!
Well I hope Goldsboro is one of the cities. But if not, I won't be in this city for too long. So hopefully whereever I move in this state will have a Peaks fitness center.
I got my sites set on either Greensboro/Winston, Raleigh, or Charlotte. So I will probably look into Peaks as soon as I make my move.
Thanks....
by the way, what all does Peaks have to offer besides a great membership deal?
enkai
12-18-2002, 09:52 AM
Well all the peaks are a bit different, like the one six miles from me is total crap, its a small room with everything crammed into it, but the one i goto is really good...it just depends on the one you pick, if you come to charlotte, there are plenty of gyms here, golds, ymca, peaks, etc...but i chose peaks cuz the atmosphere is good, the music is good, and it has that raw feeling to it, there arnt a million mirrors around to distract you, one wall has mirrors, and the rest is just there....they got tanning beds, massues, and a chiropractor, but here is what my old ymca had....
huge building...
5 basketball courts, indoor track, outdoor tanning section, huge locker rooms, massuse, whirl pool, sauna, whole floor of resistance machines, top floor is all cardio, and these are huge spaces, in the cardio area there are like tvs you can watch while doing cardio, aerobic classes were held daily, there were boxing bags around, lol everything you could imagine, except the thing that sucked was the atmosphere, too many "girly men" were there, but at peaks i feel at home cuz to me its a place to train not to socialize., I just joined peaks a few days ago, so i think they'll be adding stuff to it.
Unbreakable
12-18-2002, 02:22 PM
Peaks sounds like a pretty raw gym. I like dungeons to train in. I hate when you got some freak just sittin on something u need to use reading a f*&kin magazine. to me if you have time to read you have time to push. Then you have the chicks who come in with tight ass **** on takin up space to socialize and build up their ego watchin guys watching them. If I had a gym it would be a total dungeon no cardio ****, free weights out numbering machines, and machines just a few good ones like Hammer Strenth. not to many. You want to see chicks in tight clothes go to the mall, u wanna train hard and sweat blood then come to my dungeon. Just my .02
enkai
12-18-2002, 03:14 PM
Yeah it is, 70 yards of free weights, and one of the best things is that the massuse is free for the 1st 3 months, and o yeah did i mention that there are only 800 members so far, in which like 15 are present at one time this makes it hella good, haha and on one of the tvs in the cardio area they play cartoons. btw the freeweights are in this huge basement that gives it the dungen look.

In the USAF here. Stationed in G-boro. Only decent gym is Larry's on Berkeley Blvd, other than that the base gym is decent. Got all new hammer strength with a good selection of free weights. Cardio machines are seperated from the free weights so the women don't bother us...plus there is a "womens only" gym here so the women stay away. I agree with Unbreakable...build a dungeon to lift in. Any other Air Force people out here. Drop a line or PM me.

Hey, BigStorm, I'm in Winston-Salem.
I've been lifting for about a year and looking to get really serious but can't seem to find anyone interested. No one I lift with wants to put on serious mass. The 2 guys I currently lift with are almost always doing chest or arms, never legs.
I just dropped my membership to the Y here because it's always so crowded and I'm getting ready to join Body Check.
If anyone wants to chat or anything, drop me a line.

ECU has a kickass gym! No need to go anywhere else. The student recreation center cost like $18 million dollars when they built it a few years ago.
I met Jay Cutler and a hott fitness chick named April Moore. I got pics and autographs with both. In one of the pics with Jay we are both flexing our biceps! It ruled, I stayed there for an hour just staring at him. I will post the pics in the pics section when they are developed.
