So last night, I'm finishing up my bicep routine and I go to the pullup bar to pump a few out. I strap on a 45lb weight to my waist and go for my grip. As I hang loose and go to do my first pullup, I felt a slight pop behind my left shoulder near the top of my lat. It hurt, but not serious pain. I've been doing weighted pullups for a long time and have never experienced this before.

I hung from the bar, without weight shortly afterwards to try and stretch it, and felt the slight pain. I was also unable to do a pullup because of the pain.

It's definitely not a detached tendon or muscle tear.

I took 2 advil last night and then threw some ice on it. It feels slightly better today, but I'm wondering if I should be concerned.

Anyone ever experience this? How long should it take to recover?

I had that happen in my left calf when doing seated calf raises three or four weeks ago. It instantly felt like DOMS X 3. The pop was audible over all the noise in the gym, and I thought for sure I would see a bruise or a ball of muscle chilling out by the inside of my knee joint. Thankfully this was not the case!

I iced it as soon as I got home, and alternated between ice, icy hot, and placing a hot water bottle on it. I took a naproxen for the first few days. I also had my wife massage my calf for me.

It seems fine now, I started doing Seat Calf Raises last week.

If it doesn't improve, see a doctor to rule out a tear or an avulsion.
