Before I get started, let me state that I am a male and understand if some of you females are reluctant to answer my question, that being said, here goes:

Due to the current rigors and demands of Med school, my wife and I have decided that we are nowhere near to being ready to have a child. She decided to go on the pill, and since then her sex drive has become almost nonexistent. She has switched between a few different pills, but all have had the same effect. Our relationship has taken a big hit since we had a very healthy sexual relationship prior to this.

I have talked to her about stopping the pill completely, but she is not very comfortable with that right now. I also realize that the stress of Med school could be a big part of the equation as well. So, have any of you have taken a sexual aid supplement that increased your desire? If so, which one and how did you dose it? I know of supps like Aspire Lite that are supposed to be for women, but I'm looking for something that is more for an everyday increase rather than something to take 30 minutes prior.

Sorry if this is too personal of a question, but all help will be appreciated.

If someone has an idea but isn't comfortable posting, you can always PM me.

This is a completely serious question if anyone has any advice.

Your wife should have some blood work done to see how the increased estrogen has affected her blood glucose levels. When I went on the pill my levels dropped dangerously low, I went off and back to normal. My husband and I had to go to alternate methods of birth control . Good luck.

Thank you that is something I will definitely look into.

I don't know what to tell you about sexual supplements. Being on the pill has never effected my sex drive! (thank God!)

Maybe you two should try someething new. Role play, toys, massage oils.....or even a sex game.
My BF and I are always trying new things, and it keeps our relationship very fun & exciting.

Have you considered another method like the Mirena (IUD)? I was having the same problem and was going to switch, but then because suddenly single.
Is she on one of the lower dose pills? like tri-cyclen lo, or Alesse? That could help.

Isn't there a female version of Viagra?

Cialis

Thanks for all the responses people.

Right now I believe she is on a generic Tri-Cyclen, but I do not believe it is lo.

Although Cialis could be a last resort, we'd much rather find a way to enhance her drive on an everyday basis instead of having to take a pill once you decide to do something.

Even anyone else has any ideas, feel free to chime in.

Being on the pill affected my quality of life. Not only did my drive go way beyond zero (g-d help my ex-boyfriend if he tried to just hold my hand nevertheless be amorous!!), but I was having some Ridiculous mood swings in general!!

There is NO doubt in my mind that there was NO herbal remedy, pill, physical or psychological stimulant, etc. that would have increased my interest/drive while on the pill.

If this is still an issue for you and your wife, maybe she could look into Depo Provera (generic medroxyprogesterone) which is injected intramuscularly 4x a year (& no I PROMISE it does not hurt, I am a wuss!!!)

I personally have been on Depo Provera, and I couldn't be happier. I would never wholeheartedly recommend this as the best answer since as with pills there is a list of possible side affects/complications.

I have to tell you, going from being a terrifying sobbing evil freak to no longer having the pain and irritablness and other pms related issues (yes, I said it, NO MORE PMS mister!!) is really, really - REALLY something else. And my drive is back to normal. (and as extra incentive for your wife, I do believe if you read up on it, there is documentation which states some women actually have a heightened sexual drive while on Depo).

Again, there is the possibility of different complications with Depo, but so does birth control pills (and you don't have to worry about taking a pill at a specific time every single day) so I can not tell your wife that this is the best choice for her/out there; but I am very, very happy with my choice.
