I honestly feel hungrier after drinking diet soda, and if I am strictly following my diet, it slows my progress,,, but that is just me.

My personal opionin is ( and I must add I have no scientific fact to back this up) that it fools your body into thinking it is getting sugar, and then when your body realizes it isn't getting any sugar it kinda rebells and then demands the food.

it could be the sodium in it or the carbonated water... or both.

i was thinking the sodium...but there really isnt much a whole can of coke zero has 40 mg...if that much salt makes you bloated...i need to definitly make some changes to my diet lol

Most sodas are low in sodium... the carbonation can make you feel bloated. The aspartame in the diet sodas can cause weight gain and hunger. Diet foods produced my man are anything but.

In addition to the other comments (it is the carbonation that causes the stomach bloating feeling- it reacts with your stomach acid- think a child's "soda/acid volcano" for their science project inside your belly), soda also has a history of "encouraging" kidney stones.

I used to drink a lot of soda. I spent this Christmas with two kidney stones. If anyone in your family has had kidney stones- stay far far away from soda. I mean it.

The sheer, unbelievable agony of kidney stones is beyond my ability to express. Think something the size of a BB going through a nerve-filled eureter the size of and with not much more "give" than a coffee stirring straw. Think 100x worse than a catheter. In fact, I'd get 100 catheters in a row to never get another kidney stone.

Any family history of kidney stones, just say HELL NO, NO WAY to soda!
