I dont know much about all this, and i need help! im about 5' 4'' and weigh around 9 stone, maybee under. I'm not necessarily trying to loose weight, but around the waist would be nice. ;) If you have any advice for me, id be really grateful to hear it.

Your bf is right. You either have muscle -- and low enough bodyfat for it to show -- or your don't. No such thing as "tone."
hey, just want to say thanks for helping the newbie! info i found on the body-for-life really is helping me plan my diet. Was chatting to the other half and i was advised to go on a 'cutting diet' followed by a 'bulking diet'. Should i do this....? =/ im not even sure what these are! have they helped anyone else?
On a side note, thinking about the cost of my new diet, being a student will prob make this hard....anyone know of any relatively cheap high protein foods??

Samoangirl and Bodebldr2000 are both using the body-for-life workouts.
Also, they consume most of their protein and calories from whole foods.
You should really check out their journals.

Hey, took a wee peak at your journal (dragon princess) and you look amazing....i want a back like that! im not actually doing a specific routine or anything from the body for life site; i was purely using that for alternative food ideas.
im going to do a three day split but im just trying to see what has worked for other people. any experiences from other people of how and what they did, how long it took would be really appreciated.

I am attaching a few links for you. Both articles have feedback and q's and a's about the program. Very worthwhile read.
I like the look of this program but haven't tried it myself. I decided to go with a three day full body workout instead.

The 3 day workout is great! Especially if you do the BFL. I have found the workouts to be really effective. The cardio is intense but it's great! I've been doing a regular routine for about a month and a half but my hubby and I switched to BFL and tried it last week as a trial and it's not as time consuming as my workouts before. We start training for it hardcore Jan.2nd! I am really excited about it!
just wanted to say thanks for all the advise, its really helpedme get a grip on what i should be doing....feeling alot more confident now. going to start my journal tomorow so if anyone has any comments please don't hasitate, cause im still in need of your wisdom, lol ;)
again thanks for all the replies
