Frustrated me so much that nobody answered such a simple question that I registered just to reply.

An E-C stack is an ephedrine-caffeine cocktail usually employed for fat loss. You should give www.wikipedia.org a try, they're pretty informative, if a little sketchy at times; but skepticism is healthy anyway.

Now... on to the Tyrosine.

What it is:
It has a mood-lifting effect, to the point of being mania-inducing in some individuals. Of course, your mileage may vary. I use it for depression and bouts of depersonalization (I am not a bodybuilder). It may be beneficial to your workouts in that it is an important co-factor for the production of endorphins, and has been demonstrated to raise levels significantly after a few days dosing (I don't have the study on me, I'm sure a google or two could educe it easily if you're curious), perhaps permitting you to endure further in your workouts. The feeling of mental weightlessness may also make attempting more challenging workouts less daunting. I don't know.

Caveats:
Personally, my biggest complaint is that a tolerance builds to most of the psychological effects within a week - most of which probably aren't what you're seeking, though they certainly aren't unpleasant. For you, the biggest shortcoming might be that it raises blood pressure and heart rate (as it raises levels of catecholamines, like adrenaline/noradrenaline).

Dosing:
There's a bit of a latency before effects set in, so it is important to take a moment to consider when to take the pills. For instance, if you need to be a morning person (6-9am) dose around 9-12pm. Everything will taper around 3-6pm that day. As you can see, there's pretty much inevitably a window of inefficacy, but it's up to you where it falls. Trying to increase dose frequency to mitigate this can be tricky as too much makes you feel very jittery, distractingly emotional, and generally over-exuberant. Lastly, I would recommend starting with 1g, and after a two day "saturation period", titrating by 250mg every day if effects are not percieved. Because of tolerance - which for you may not be a problem, as the physical effects (increased endurance, decreased sleep dependence) seemed to persist for me - I recommend a 3 day vacation at least once every 2 weeks.

Let me know how it works out.

hahah, =). But don't thank me too quickly, I just realized I didn't even answer your question: "Is it in energy drinks?"
I think doses too small to have a really noticeable effect are present in some of the drinks (some Sobe drinks, for instance). With the delay as it is, it probably isn't a terribly marketable additive, since consumers are unlikely to associate it with the drink they had, if they obtain a large enough dose in the first place.
