I was wondering if anyone had info on Bodybuilding Comps in the MN, WI, IL and IA area in April and May of 2006. I know of a few but was wondering if anyone could lend a hand. Thanks,

Hey man, I am competing in the Heart of America Natural Classic on May 14, 2006 in Peoria, IL. It is a pro qualifier. I competed last year, really good show. It is an NGA show.

I forget the name right now, but there is one in early April 2006 in Lakewood, OH (by Cleveland). I think you can find it here - www.daveliberman.com

Here are the two biggest shows in the area you mentioned, at your given times:
April 8, Southern States Classic(NANBF). Liberty, MO(just north of Kansas City)
May 20, Natural Iowa/Central Midwest(NANBF). Des Moines, IA.
Both shows are WNBF pro qualifiers and both are NANBF shows. Also, they both average well over 80 competitors each year. Last year the average between the two was closer to 100. Big shows = fun! Here is the link to the site: www.nanbf.org

Natural Iowa/Central Midwest Body Building/Figure & Xtreme Fit Championships
NANBF Figure
Des Moines, IA
You thinking of this show Layne? I already know at least 6 people who are competing there...its going to be a good time. This was the first show I ever did, back in 04. Lots of fun. Its run very well, promoted very well and always has a strong field. Also, they moved it to big theater in downtown Des Moines...so now they can seat up to like 2000 people. I think there were something like 800-900 or so who showed up to watch last year. Not as big as KC, but then there is no pro show at this one...

Cool. By the way, I just got the DVD from Songsmythe of the KC show...Nick was absolutely insane looking. The guy that wone overall was great, no doubt about it, but Nick was shredded beyond anything I think I have ever seen. If he adds some more size look out!

yea, that's his problem though, he's so frightened of getting fat that he doesn't hardly gain any weight

Was Nick the pro going against the guy who took the overall? Nick's legs were on point he had the other guy beat in that area I think if he would've had just a tad more size on his upper body he would've had it.

Yes, Nick won the lightweight division. I was backstage helping him out getting ready. It was funny watching all the other competitors looking at him in awe of how ridiculously shredded he was.
funny you mention his legs... for some reason he thinks they suck lol. I think they are his best bodypart.

yeah...he looked great. I saw him backstage, but I couldn't really appreciate how crazy he looked until I you see the pics/video. In his posedown with the overall winner, the first thing that caught my eye was that both Nick and the winner were almost the exact same height. Nick looked to give up some fairly significant body mass to the winner, but he gave up nothing in conditioning. He was the best conditioned athlete of the show.
Oh, and in regards to him getting "fat". I think a guy who has the diet/workouts on point like that has nothing to worry about. As for his legs, his ham/glute area makes me cringe. That is by far his most impressive area. His quads need a bigger sweep, but other than that he is awesome. I agree, more upper body mass too. That said, he clearly deserved the lightweight class win. He and Chris Pennie tie for the most rediculous legs of the show. Pennies legs are HUGE. By far the biggest quad sweep I have seen on a natural competitor.
