what would be ideal for carb loading to get the hard vascular appearance. at what point should someone consumer the carbs before appearance. this isn't for a contest, but the purposes are the same.

That's the million dollar question! It really takes trial and error. But generally speaking you want to up your carbs during the 3 days prior to your event. Though that will help with muscle fullness, vascularity has more to do with water and sodium. A last minute meal fairly high in sodium does wonders for vascularity, but the effect is fairly short lived.
