starting spot on jv or varsity? they will go up but strength is a small part of it. work on acceleration, power, stability, speed, coordination and agility they are all equal parts. you dont have to do deadlifts, if you want to do them with light weight. if it is hurting your back in a bad way dont do it, its not worth permanint damage or missing a season

180 pounds for a dt is fine in highschool since you will probly bew faster than alot of the linemen so you will use your speed but i suggest you change your position if you want to play collage. now d1 dts run 4.8 40s 4.6 shuttles weigh 260-280 bench 300+ squat 450+ 280+ cleans. but skill is a large part of it. work on gaining weight (muscle) more than strength or speed

d1 dt's don't run 4.8's. Probably not any that run 4.8's in the NFL. If you're good at DT and like it just slap a ton of mass on and do a lot of agility and speed training.

d-line at 180lbs?.....

What is it with you kids and weight in high school?

****ing eh fellas, IT'S HIGH SCHOOL! High school football is ALL about SPEED and STRENGTH. Size is probably one of the smallest determining factors for high school football.

ok D ends run that, DT around 5.0. and after the nfl combine most teams dont test their players 40s

What does your 40 look like?

fbdt99
12-23-2007, 09:56 PM
do you know what yor 40 and shuttle times are? vertical? you should probly read up on bulking in the nutrition section. try a 40/30/30 mix. (carbs/protein/fat) 3500 calories a day. definitly get whey shakes for after you work out. are you going to follow your teams workout or try a different one?

ftball58

From a coaches point of view the weight room is important but if it produces no results on the field you're no good to me.

what moves do you use when u play? swim? rip? bull-pull?

ftball58
12-24-2007, 11:08 AM
im more of a rip type person once in awhile ill throw in a few swims

nightrain36

you should do a variety of it all. Of course if you're small it's difficult to swim and if you too tall ripping is difficult. But don't get stuck in one move. Keep the o-lineman guessing. If you're predictable he'll own you all day long.
