Intro:
The war against genetics.. the battle lines are drawn and you have to choose a side. There is no draft, and you have no choice... we are all active duty... we are all in the fight OF our lives... FOR our lives... every day.
The teenager is sitting on the bench wondering why all his friends are bigger, taller, and faster. The "skinny dude" secretly wonders what he's doing wrong.. he's gaining strength, but not weight. Your overweight sister has tried all the fad diets, has no appetite, and hardly eats a thing, yet she continues to gain fat...she's depressed and out of ideas. Your friend asks you for advice because every time he increases his calories, he gains fat, not muscle. Your grandfather works hard all his life to save for retirement, only to watch his body fall apart as soon as he has any free time... to ENJOY life.
My story really begins at age 19, when I decided to join the military. I was 6ft tall and 130lbs on a full stomach, and my girlfriend never complained about me being skinny, in fact the main thing that bothered me about being skinny, was that my clothes would never fit (that's how TINY I was). I had a decent appetite as a child, but I have been on my own since the age of 15, and supporting myself since the age of 16, so buying my own food probably had alot to do with it. Looking at the family album one day, I saw a photo of my dad from the 80's and he couldn't have been over 6ft 140lbs... not healthy at all... but happy. As all my cousins grew taller AND bigger, I just remained tiny and weak. I was pretty active... rollerblading, biking, etc.. but it was around this time that it occured to me, that I had ****ty genetics.
I realized that I was going to have to get in shape for bootcamp, and I was pretty freaked out about it. I almost didn't make it in, due to almost being under the minimum weight for my height. So I started doing pushups like crazy... I never considered joining a gym, because I knew they cost money. I liked the feeling of working out, and I had no real problems during bootcamp (with the exception of some dizziness).
I got out of bootcamp at around 145lbs, and my girlfriend at the time loved the gains ;) ... I'm sure that this had an affect on my subconscious mind, because from that point on I was more aware of how my stomach / abs looked. Of course, I still didn't want to "waste" my free time and money by going to the gym and "getting my muscles all sore and stuff". So I was stationed in San Diego, and all I really did for fitness was sex, pushups, and basketball. It never occured to me to watch what I was eating, but my food intake in the military was FAR better than in the past... I hit 160lbs.. and my focus stayed on my abs.. I tried some whey protein one time... it made me puke.. so "never again" I told myself. I remember one day we came back from a deployment, and my friend gave me some Yohimbe pills. He said my girl would be happy later. Holy ****... it was awesome... this is when my interest in herbs really started, and my friends and I recreationally tried stupid stuff like Eph 833 and Eph 1000... some of the Ephedra we tried didn't even have labels.. and we would go clubbing in Tijuana for 9-10 hours straight, and have plenty of energy for work the next morning !
After I got out of the military, I hit 175lb @ age 23 or 24...BUT it was NOT a lean 175lb... like many guys, I had "let myself go" during a 4 year relationship. I started actually lifting weights at least once a week and eating "right". It was around this time that I started taking whey protein, and I hit 190lb @ age 25... can we say... newbie gains ?
I was stuck at what I thought was a 190lb "plateau" for a while, and I tried things like HMB, CellTech, and Myoplex Deluxe. I tried the ABCDE diet, and I was lucky enough to try a supplement from Get Diesel Nutrition called Extreme NOS Precursor, that changed my outlook on supplements. I saw noticable changes in my body on a weekly basis, and it was easy to see / notice the growth because I was pretty lean. I switched from Myoplex Deluxe to Optimum Whey 100% Chocolate, and discovered raw oats as a ideal (and CHEAP) carb source..... this basically changed my life... I saw lean gains like I had never seen before, and soon I started Squatting, Deadlifting, and BB Benching. It was around this time that I tried what I saw as a new weapon in the war... a standalone cycle of Ergopharm 6-OXO to boost my testosterone levels... I saw strength gains, but couldn't stand the side effects... it was terrible... and I'm pissed that I wasted my $$$
I hit 225lb @ age 26, and then I made one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.. I decided to do a "cutting phase" because my girlfriend from San Diego was coming to visit... I lost 20 lbs.. WAYY too fast. My strength went to hell too.. obviously my priorities were ****ed. During this time, I experimented with supplements, searching for the next "yohimbe" or "ephedra".. I tried things like MACA, Ginseng, ALA, NAC, 6-OXO, ALCAR, Tyrosine, Caffeine, Yohimbine HCL....
I started bulking again... and more and more, I started to focus on my routine and intensity... I was gaining mass, but not much strength... my gains seemed to be going to my stomach ! ! My libido was ****ed and I couldn't sleep ! What was wrong ? My testosterone levels initially came back in the 200 range, and slowly increased back up to the 500 range.
I hit 250lb @ age 27... during that time I was VERY fortunate to try supplements from Get Diesel Nutrition, Controlled Labs, Black Star Labs, Omega Sports, Myochem, Molecular Nutrition, Substance, Syntrax, MAN Sports, LegalGear, and others.. I was recently certified as a personal trainer, and I was offered a part-time position as a consultant and product rep for Controlled Labs... so today I'm holding steady at about 248lbs, and just like any other day... the war against genetics starts here... the war against genetics starts now....it's time to get Activate™d....

Raising the bar:
It's time to set a new standard for supplement logs and reviews, for everyone's benefit. This log was NOT created to entertain you or sell you a product, it was not created for you to post your protein fart jokes, it was created to track and report progress. Make no mistake about it... sacrifices are made when doing a objective and honest review. How can someone accept a free product from Company X one day, and then go out and get trashed the next, and report.. "no gains". How can someone start 3 supplements on the same day, and determine if one of them is working ?
Make no mistake about it, there is no excuse for my current plateau to begin with, and if I say this product works... you will KNOW that this product works.

Prohormone/Steroid use:
None. I did a few clean cycles of 6-OXO, which overwhelmingly is NOT considered a PH/PS/Steroid. The cycles were cut short due to unpleasant side effects around week 2-3.
Training experience:
In the last 3+ years I went from a out-of-shape 175lbs to a leaner 250lbs.
I've tried 5x5 training and liked it
I've tried MAX-OT and liked it
I've attempted Conjugated Periodization and didn't enjoy it
I made a HUGE mistake last year when I did a cutting phase from 225lbs to 205lbs, but I have since bulked back up, and broke through a 220-225lb plateau.
Training Schedule/Protocol:
5 days a week, with a 4 x 8-12 rep range. Workouts usually last around 1.5 hours.

Notes:
The last few days have been pretty stressful, for reasons that I won't be discussing. Stress is one of those important variables, but not a big deal because the log just started. It should be noted that my bottle of Activate™ is "Activate Beta". Anyways, my current Bench 1RM is a very shaky 305.. and it should be noted that I don't train for strength, but I consider 1RM to be a good primary indicator. Diet was lacking today, and preworkout nutrition was not optimal.

We have your kind at my gym and i've always wondered what the benefit to going commando was other than to make life interesting. Yeah i'd hate that restriction around my quads. Try boxer briefs! This is one of those moments where being a chick isn't half bad. :P

I took some "cold" back photos and will upload them asap. I've never taken back photos before, so it is REALLY weird to see how my back looks... I never gave it much thought. Thankfully, I'm not here to impress anyone.. and that's a really good feeling to not care. One other random thought is that my back photos are evidence that my bi's are really lagging (my traps are too.. but I have always been aware of that). Anyways, I'm not sure how important leg shots are really going to be (vs. measurements).. but I may try and take some legs shots later, and maybe one more shot with a newspaper or something.

You want to spread your scapula as far apart as possible with a rear lat spread. Strethching really helps, like pulling back on a bench bar and hanging from a pullup bar with an extermely wide grip. Your obviously a huge dude and your lat spead would look even bigger if you could spead those suckers a little more.

Finally seeing some recent pictures of PU. You're huge bro. Good log so far. When i ran my Beta test for ACT a couple of months back, i noticed the increase in energy throughout the day as well. I went from feeling lethargic all day long, to my mind being unusually clear. Keep up the good work.

I don't know how to lat spread either but according to sources I better learn how to truely show the definition in my back. :rolleyes: I know what you mean about not seeing your back and being a little alarmed when you see a photo - but anyways, looks great - you're a big guy considering where you came from! And until I read that you were at work I was going to question why you had a urinal in your home bathroom. :D

No strength gains at this time, and still stuck between 248-250lbs.. with improved vascularity and hardness. Really hoping to see some strength gains in the coming weeks...

That was my fav part of the activate, the exact opposite. Not to pimp another product or anything, but for a non stim type energy boost, on my "down" days, I combine my emergen-c w/ xtend, and actually feel pretty damn good. I respond very well to stims, I just cant keep weight with them so I avoid them. This is just a thought. Not to question your dieting, you obvisoulsy know your $hit, but what does your preworkout nutrition look like anyway?

Final thoughts:
Like most herbal testosterone products, I feel that Activate™ is probably best used during a cutting phase. I was personally bulking during this review, and I couldn't really care less about vascularity at this point (but I am impressed with the improvement). I was hoping for some noticable strength gains / aggression / libido improvement.. to really indicate that I was "on" something. Many of you can probably relate to this desire.
I was pretty shocked at how much I wanted to sleep (constantly basically) when on Activate™ so I highly recommend combining it with a stim for best results.

Strength: Minor improvement
Libido / spontaneous erections: No change
Lean gains: TBD
Appetite: No change :(
Secondary:
Intensity: Very minor improvement

i think Activate holds a lot of promise.. I think PU might just not be responding to it well.. i also plan to use it sometime in the near future..
It's true PU got some mixed results.. But what are people expecting? Natural BBers are lucky to gain 12 good, lean lbs per year.. THat's a rate of 1lb a month or so.. Any improvement after 1 month is good improvement to me, I would hope no one jumps the gun and not purchase this product because of this..
Innovative products such as this deserve everyone to give it a shot and find out for themselves.. I remember the head of Designer Labs from a long time ago.. long time ago.. He's always been a bright mind and always brought great supps to the market..

while xxghostxx and UnlikelyToad of MAN did a FINE job on their respective NHA reviews, pu12's other logs were FAR superior to his ActivaTe log and Aeternatis's log of ActivaTe hasn't exactly lived up to it's potential either

Just seemed like you were really tired and down from outside causes, but the log kinda made it seem like it was our product's fault. Given the timing of the log coinciding with the lawsuit talk and the RA horse****, I know for a fact that people questioned the quality of this log.
Be honest, do you really think the updates were as thorough as some of your past logging attempts?
O/T: Due to my issues today with the nutrabolics item I've switched back to my original plan of running my (admittedly long overdue) Green bulge log as part of my ongoing bulking log. As you'll see, I plan to be 100% fair and update just as much as I've been with my other items.

I guess I better stick to positive comments only, so that my log can be considered "well kept"
Of all the products you have tested and kept logs on, Activate is the only one [if memory serves me well] you did not respond the way you were "expected" to. Therefore, your log did not quite live up to someone's "expectations." It's not about the details, it's about the fact that your results were not the laundry list of benefits in the product's write-up.
That was a good log and if I were you, I wouldn't take any of those remarks personally. Those remarks, however, greatly amplify my reluctance to ever test a company's product and keep a log. There are those "expectations."
