i am trying to help a friend with a program to loose b/f she is a good learner i get all the answers to my questions from this site pretty much, i was just wondering what do you ladies have for a pre work out snack? for me its oat meal and fruit and some milk 6-8 oz's but i am a am work out she is a pm?
i suggested cottage cheese or yogurt 4-5 oz's with a piece of fruit,,,,,?

Definitely protein. Whether or not you add a carb or a fat is up to you and your daily totals.

I've always just had one of my meals pre workout (protein/carbs/fats). I'll eat, wait about an hour, lift, do a tiny bit of cardio, & by the time I'm done & on my way home, it's time for me to eat my next meal, so that's my post workout (and then I usually have one more meal 2 - 3 hours later). It's worked for me as far as either gaining muscle or losing fat goes.

of course.
protein + carbs about 30-60 mins prior lifting,
no matter whether it's am of pm. lifting is about gaining mass, not dieting.

I eat a protein shake + oats or egg whites + oats.
Cottage cheese and apple is fine too. But I find that complex carbs like oats give me more lasting energy through my workout.

Even if she works out in the pm, she should take in protein + carbs pre and post workout, at the times they are more needed.
