Hey

So its Tues night, and my last workout (weight lifting) was Saturday morning. I did an arm workout (both biceps and triceps). Usually I'm only sore for about a day, but this is three days and I am still quite sore.

I have read that after awhile you need to take about a week or two off to really let your body recover, is this true? I have been going steady (about 4 workouts a week - split by muscle so each muscle gets hit once a week) for about 4 months now.... Just looking for some advice.

Should I stretch this into a 7 day break, let myself heal up? Will I lose any gains during the break?

Thanks for the input.

Wherz it hurt? Muscles or jjoints?

Taking up to a two week break never hurt no one, nope, it didn't.

I'm a huge HST fan and basicly I workout for 8 weeks and then take a 2 week break from any lifting. Gives your body a chance to recoup and your CNS a chance to sorta "reset". After the break I always seem just a tad bit weaker...maybe, but my joints are renewed and I GROW a hell of a lot more than I would have if I continued to workout without a break. Check out HST.

Sry but what is HST exactly? Never heard it before.

It does not sound like something to be too concerned about, give it a week and see how you feel then. You probably overworked (exhausted and fatigued) your muscles, especially doing both biceps and triceps on the same day.

Is the pain decreasing as the days go on past the 3rd- 4th day?

I had the same problem.. I got in a awesome workout one night. Hurt like hell the next few days.. So I took 10 days off...All is well now... Did a workout today and no pain.

Ya the pain is getting less as days go by. THanks grtrat, thats good to hear. Now that you mention it, i did have an BIG workout, that night i got some comments on my arm size lol. So it must have just been a superb pump... I plan to hit the gym this saturday, that'll be a good 7 days rest.

I'm also using glutamine in my evening shake, so I think that should speed up some recovery.
