Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to the site yet very new to getting a grip on my body, eating, excercising, etc. I know by what I have seen that there are so many experience folks on this site with a lot of great advice and information. I am hoping some of you can help me now.

I am 5'4", current weight is about 200lbs. I am looking to shed about 60-70lbs, lots of inches and to gain some muscle mass. Until about 5 years ago, I never had to worry about what I ate and what I did for excercise, but now, I am over 30 (barely) and I need some serious help.

As of just 2 days ago, I decided to make some changes. I have a friend who is recommending some things for me, supplements as well as lots of water, the reduction of carbs, more protein, and more activity in my life. As far as the supplements, I am not wanting to build up muscle to where I would complete, yet I eventuallyl want to look fit, trim and healthy, so are supplements right for me? What he has instructed me to do is use, Whey, BCAA, Multi Vit, Vit C, Hydroxycut, Liver Tabs...I think that might be all of them. I haven't started the sups yet, only the vitamins. I am only wondering, will these sups be too much for me?

As I stated, I have changed my diet so far, I am now walking for 20-25 mins each morning, and about 20-25 minutes in the evening to start. Only to get my body used to moving again.

Please let me know if I am doing anything totally wrong, or not doing some of the things I should be doing. I certainly hope to have results, but I am truly hoping to get healthy again some day.

Thanks for your time everyone.

That's a lot of supps
My concerns
Whey, cheap, but absorbs to fast and is not best used on an empty stomach, nor is it good for weight loss. I prefer an MRP (Meal Replacement) comes in a pack with protien/carbs/fats and vitamins, designed specifically to be a food replacement.
Hydroxycut, If you have even borderline High BP this is a No No

Take it slow, keep at it, when you "feel good" go find a good gym with a good trainer and have them set you up a moderate program, light at first and gradually increasing over the months.
You didn't get this way overnight, don't expect overnight results. Stick with it, be patient and follow through and you'll see improvement.

For a beginner, I recommend taking a multivitamin after a workout. And if you want to replace some meals with a meal replacement powder, that is a good idea also. As far as the rest of the supplements, Hydroxycut, Liver tabs, whey, I wouldn't bother with them. You can get most of your vitamins, minerals and amino acids from the foods you will eat during the day and your meal replacement powders. Start easy with the cardio, 3-4 days a week for 20-25 minutes, and you'll start seeing results. Always remember that a good body is never found in a pill. If that was the case, everyone would have one. It takes patience, diligence and determination. Good luck!
