Sorry 40, but I have to disagree. You did the Sox staff pitch 4 complete games? They used their bullpen for a half-inning of work.

However, I do recall Albert Pujols smashing a three-run homer off Lidge.

Both staffs will keep scoring low, especially since both line-ups are not inclined to hit for power.

All and all, I'll have my White Sox win the series in six.

It better. Considering the Athletics, Indians, Twins, and even the White Sox, have fared well with modest payrolls in comparison to the Yankees, they need to focus on building a farm system.

Either that, or Steinbrenner will increase the team payroll to $300 million. :D

How can the Yankee's suck if they've won more title's than anyone else. They've won the AL penent 8 years in a row.
No titles since 2000 is better than since 1917.

You may not like 'em but you've got to come up with something better than "Yankee's Suck", make's you sound like a Red Sox fan.

Maybe Steinbrenner will get it one day that buying allstart players doesn't get it done. You need a TEAM.
No more Randy Johnsons or A-Rod's.

All in all, good luck White Sox, it's been a while.

I just hope Clemens does well.

Maybe the astros fans should just be thankful they even got in the playoffs. If those damn cubs would have beat them in thier final game the stros would be on vacation right now. The stros cant play the kinda of ball the sox can and everyone knows that! Even the boys on ESPN admitted it.

Astros will win they have better pitching and White Sox's haven't seen anything this postseason that resembles a top notch pitcher. Wakefield, Wells, Clement (clement sucks), Byrd twice, Lackey, Ervin Santana and Jarrod Washburn. Talk about not being tested the Astros have 3 arms in Clemens, Oswalt, Pettitte who are all MILLLLLLLES ahead of those guys listed above. I'll say Houston in 6 plus Houston has guys like Clemens, Pettitte who know what it's like to pitch in big games. White Sox's have no one they're a relatively untested team so this should be a good matchup.

Are they really the Killer-B's anymore? Beltran is gone and Bagwell hardly played this season.

Besides, Morgan Ensberg and Jason Lane are the bigger power threats on the team.

And no, Lance Berkman and Craig Biggio will not suffice.

However, when all is said and done, Sox take World Series!

Wrong they would of had a 1 game playoff with the Phillies if they lost there last game to the Cubs. Astros can play small ball with the best of them. They have had to battle for runs all season with an below average lineup now that they have had guys step up like Tavares, Chris Burke to go along with Morgan Ensberg and the best hitter in my opinion in this series is Lance Berkman. Astros lineup is nothing to sleep on White Sox's lineup is nothing to write home about. The majority of there team is a bunch of .260 to .280 hitters Astros pitching should have a field day with them.

However, when all is said and done, Sox take World Series!

They have beaten up Smoltz and Tim Hudson a few times along with Mark Mulder twice this postseason. There offense has come alive they have also faced the best pitcher in baseball this year, Chris Carpenter twice in the postseason. They have already seen top notch pitching White Sox's haven't. Astros are playing great baseball right there offense has finally clicked and there pitching and bullpen is stellar I think they definately are a better team than Chicago but that's why they play the games!

I got P3WND the first series I predicted a Red Sox's sweep :( I had a feeling they would beat the Angels though but I wanted the Angels to win. For some reason I just don't like the White Sox's this year. I think the reason is because early in the year when they were getting all there exposure I told everyone they were a fluke and they would dwindle off in the 2nd off, while they did dwindle off in the 2nd half they're not a fluke. This is a legit ball club don't get me wrong I just want to see Houston win now so I don't have to eat the biggest piece of crow pie this side of the Mississippi.

Bagwell had a humorous post-game comment. He mentioned something to the affect that he could have Jenks' fastball thrown to him 250 times and he still wouldn't be able to hit it.

It's hard to believe Anaheim once labeled him "washed-up" even at this young age. Of course, when he's warming-up on the mound, he throws the ball anywhere but over the plate. :)

I once faced a pitcher who could throw in the mid to low 90's. The damn thing looked like a ping pong ball coming up to the plate. Jenk's fastball must look like an aspirin tablet.

To think, Thornwood produced Mulder, Eddie Curry, and Cliff Floyd. That's not too shabby.

I think the only three pro-athletes to graduate from my h.s. were Ronnie Harmon, John Holecek (ex-Falcon/Bills LB), and Mike Prior (safety with Colts/Packers). The school is definitely not a factory for male athletes. Though the girls sports do incredible.

Rodney Harrison went to Marian as well.

today is a big game in the series for both teams, Houston is dominating at home so if they win this game today that would be huge for there chances. If they lose today and Clemens can't comeback they could be done barring some kind of fluke performance out of Brandon Backe or Wandy Rodriguez or whoever fills in for Clemens. Oswalt is the best pitcher in this series though if it goes to a game 7 Astros definately have the edge, I've been impressed by that kids composure under pressure this post-season. I realized last night I really don't dislike the White Sox's, I just hate seeing that fat kid Jenks out there getting major leaguers out. Should be a good series but the way the Sox's are playing could be tough for anyone to beat them right now.

yeah, yeah yeah everone complains but you cant remember the last time a team scored over 3 runs in a game agains the sox until last night. You cant win playoff games scoring 2-3 points a game no matter how many blown calls the other team get.

When the sox was winning during the season everyone was hating...

They whoopin' ass in the playoffs and world series.....everyone hating.....

People act like the sox suck, they got the AL East, its the toughest div. in baseball, the sox have been good ever since that one year they would have won it all but a strike put the season off, that was like what 8 years ago, they have been ok since.

Everyone loves the Cubs.......fu** the cubs. My older brother's friends would make me watch the cubs games all freakin' afternoon as a kid and I was pissed no sox games would be on tv. Thanks Fox tv. WGN....fu** them 2.

Ah, how it sucks to live in a "Cubs town". But, when the Tribune company owns the team, it's only natural.

ESPN's Jeff Brantley (guy with the slicked mullet) predicted the Sox would fall to third place by mid-season. The Sox never received any attention (positive) during the regular season, despite having the best record overall for much the seaon, and finishing with the best record in the AL.

The naysayers kept waiting for the Sox to collapse, as one would expect in a Cubs down. But, lo and behold, the Sox sit 2 game to 0 in the World Series.

I have this Cubs fan of an uncle who obviousy lives in Chicago, but is rooting for Houston (a division rival at that), because he despises the White Sox so much. How can one really feel so much negativity toward the White Sox when they hardly received attention prior to this playoffs, to begin with?

BTW, Chuck, since you went to Thorton/Thornwood, where did you grow up? Did you live in South Holland or Dolton?

I graduated from Marian Catholic over in Chicago Heights. Small world, isn't?

I got P3WND the first series I predicted a Red Sox's sweep :( I had a feeling they would beat the Angels though but I wanted the Angels to win. For some reason I just don't like the White Sox's this year. I think the reason is because early in the year when they were getting all there exposure I told everyone they were a fluke and they would dwindle off in the 2nd off, while they did dwindle off in the 2nd half they're not a fluke. This is a legit ball club don't get me wrong I just want to see Houston win now so I don't have to eat the biggest piece of crow pie this side of the Mississippi.

Well I lived in Riverdale when I went to Thornton and Calumet City when I went to the wood. Family in Dolton and s. holland, right off sibley and 94, right behind nicky's gyrols, best in the world. Born on 71st and Harvard, then moved up north to off Montrose beach but after 4th grade moved to Riverdale (parents wanted to get out of the city bc it was getting 2 bad.......riverdale was worse than the city....I was like WTF). I lived over there in pacetter homes right off 136th and Wallace.

I remember MC, Bloom and Bloom trail, they were all in out 205 distric for wrestling. I would only see MC kids at tournaments or down state.

Looks like it's just the Cubs waiting for their World Series. However, I doubt that will happen in the immediate future. You talk about Bobby Jenks, however, I could easily state that Kerry Wood is an overpaid pitcher with a .500 career average.

Anyways, I won't lose track of what's important here. And that's the Sox one-victory away from the World Series Championship.

Just to comment on the analysts opinion that the Sox have gotten lucky...

Luck and success go hand and hand. And does talent. I don't think a team achieves 99 wins and wins 15 of their last 16 based on luck. Sox pitching threw 4 consecutive complete games against the Angels, took out the World Champions, and have defeated the Astros three times.

Does luck have a part? Of course it does. But the Sox are a helluva talented team. They play team ball. Ask the Cubs what team ball is about. That fiasco that transpired a couple seasons ago, where Steve Stone and Chip Caray were made scapegoats for the Cubs' inadequacies, speaks volumes of their concept of team ball.

So Colin give my your thoughts on the match up for the post-world series series between the Sox and Yankees. And let us all know why the Yankees will beat the White Sox in this series.

Thanks.

Are you asking who I think would win if the Sox's and Yankees faced eachother this year? I'd say the Sox's because they got better pitching and a deeper bullpen, plus there offense has proven something to me. All they needed was someone to step up and carry there offense and Crede and Konerko have done that. The main reason I was so leery of the Sox's was mainly because I didn't know how Jenks would respond to postseason pressure. It always scares me seeing rookie closers in big postseason games. But he has stepped up and pitched quite well. Series is not over yet but the Sox got my respect no matter what.

there is NO way that run was going to score, they're hitting awful as a team, with only Berkman standing out, even Taveras has cooled off, ensberg is atrocious right now, biggio hitting only 250, everette is something like 0-15 with RISP

when Backe, with 16 career wins, outshines clemens, petitte, and oswalt, but a LONG SHOT, you know your team is sucking ass

though the games have been somewhat close, i think there has definitely been a feeling that it was just a matter of time until the sox made a play, and since i've completely given up on the atros, i'll admit that
