Oi! Wife and I have two dogs: big 110 pd mutt named Enu and a Beagel named Kiwi, a Pot Bellied Pig named Herbie, a tank full of fish (no names), a sugar glider named Critter, two horses named Rock and Roonie, and 21 cats...ain't gonna list all the names!
We live on a dead end road where a lot of strays get dumped, and neither of us have the heart to leave them to fend for themselves.

Here we go - finally go this pic of my rabbit scanned. Cute and cuddly - looks are deceptive. He's cute but he isn't exactly cuddly..
He looks all sweet and innocent in this picture. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take a picture of him butting these stuffed animals with his head and trying to chew them apart...

thats his job,
your little Male rabbit is only protecting his territory from the other rabbits,he has alot of testosterone in him.All males go through this from time to time ,some more than others...Billy
Danielle
10-07-2002, 11:53 PM
Thanks Billy,
protect what territory? I haven't seen any evidence of testosterone issues. I know I have a dog with them and on top of the testosterone issues he has agression issues. My rabbit is just somewhat ornery and finicky. I always seem to find the finicky animals that'll only eat a certain brand of food. Its gotta be banana flavored otherwise he'll dump it out of the bowl. If he is out of food he'll make a lot of racket...well, he doesn't make any vocal noises but he shifts his bowl and bunny toy that has a bell in it around. Then, he starts gnawing on his wood blocks in the middle of the night...Yeah, I was worried that he wasn't going to get a personality. He's my precious and ornery lil brat and all I have.

Damn that's a cute bunny. Looks like a stuffed animal himself..lol. I had a bunny myself (well I bought it for my gf at the time) there cute but just not as cuddlely as dogs or cats. Their damn fidgety and the chew on everything when you let them out not to mention peeing and pooping. Is your bunny toilet trained?

Funny thing, I took those pics back home and was showing them to my relatives and my uncle thought that I had 3 rabbits. Nooo, only one. Yeah, he ain't exactly cuddly like dogs and cats are. He'll let you hold him but not that long and he has issues when I try to put him down. As I go to put him down he spazzes out pretty bad. Scratching is his defense mechanism. I've never had a rabbit so skittish like that (he's my 4th). He's also the most intelligent rabbit that I've had from what I remember because I had the other ones when I was younger. He litter box trained the first night I had him. Very curious - always checking things out. Learns things that usually take repetition with most animals that I have come in contact with. For instance when he was chewing on the carpet I got some Bitter Lime (taste deterent) and put that stuff right where he was chewing. I'm like now try chewing the carpet and see if tastes so yummy. After, he processed the taste he hopped away and momentarily stopped trying to chew on things. Another time when he was chewing on the carpet I put that stuff in front of him again and he hopped away immediately. He knows what that stuff is. I need the spray then I could cover more areas...haha. Taste deterents are wonderful things to keep handy. I have a dog back home that has some complex issues (mental and probably chemically unbalanced - getting better though) - when he was in his satanic mode he'd try to attack you if you stared at him in the eye. His moods were like Dr.Jekyll and Ms.Hyde - definetly something you do not want in a dog. He may be a small dog but he got really nasty. Anways, whenever he saw the Apple Bitter Bottle he'd run away from you instantly. Well, he'd get shots of that if he was growling viciously. He hates the stuff. Works wonders for problematic pets. Along, with submission training and love.

Danielle,
Even though he's a bittle bunny he still thinks like a male and we all think we have territory. It's just our way and sometimes we do things without even realizing we do it.when i was about 13 years old i had a big white rabbit (thumper)and he thought my house was all his i played with him like he was a cat and he would get up in my lap and i'd rub his stomach til he fell asleep almost every day just like your spoiled little guy, whats his name?

Billy, true all males have their territory. Some worst than others though. Now if I could get my rabbit let me hold him for longer amounts of time without spazzing out but that takes time which is usually never a problem until lately....one thing at a time. Anyways, my brat of a rabbit's name is Dante. I wanted a name that was unusual and not ordinary. I heard it before but couldn't remember at the time where I had heard it from. Funny thing, turns out it was the name of this horse that I attempted to ride but he had mental issues. So, he I was trying to mount him and he wouldn't sit still so my cousin held onto his bridle because he kept on going around in cirlces. It was frusterating because it shouldn't take THAT long to get on a horse but nooo he had to keep going around in cirlces and moving. With my cousin's help I finally got in the saddle but not for long. I was on him for two seconds and he backed up and sat down. Needless, to say I slid right off. Neither, my cousin or I saw that coming. She's a horse behaviorist so she can usually see lil things like that coming. It was sorta fun except for the sand all over my saddle and elsewhere. Getting bucked off is fun too. The landing is what is the killer. See I hate flying objects pucks, tennis balls, volleyballs. I'd much rather be the flying object. Just my philosophy.

Danielle,
The last horse ride i tried to ride ....i got bit, got knocked off by a low hanging tree branch, ran into a thorn bush and thrown in a creek...this hores just did not want me on his back and i dont blame him, i did not know how to ride and was 13 years old . that was a ride to remember...Billy ;-)
Danielle
10-09-2002, 09:19 PM
Billy Poe, man that sounds pretty brutal. Worst than any of my experiences with horses. That must've been some ride. I've been bucked off two or three times. Its been awhile. One time because the horse was getting esp from this other horse. The next time it was on the safest horse on the barn and his name was Eeyore. Ok, so I was riding english and I had only experience with using crops not whips. And, my moron trainer put me with this horse that had a sensitive mouth and had to be whipped on his rear in order to get him to canter. Yeah, thats a talent right there - holding onto the reins and trying to whip that far back WITHOUT increasing the pressure on the bit in the horse's mouth. I was very unsuccessful. I landed in the dirt and my ankle got twisted. I have never been bitten by a horse however I have been stepped on by one. 1200 lbs of pressure all focused on my pinky toe. Took forever to heal and it'll never be the same as before. Oh well, it has given me a good story. All my good stories have something to do with animals - mostly horses and dogs. I've had a lot of animals. And, my poor father thought I was going through an animal phase with horses.... he doesn't know yet.

Danielle,
I had never been on a horse before that so i had no training at all.I dont blame the horse for being pissed off at me i was only 13 yrs old and i have not been on one since .My butt was raw and i could not walk or wear pants for two days.I've had alot of aninals as well.dogs cats rabbits pigeons quails guinni pigs and a few others. Most of the time i like animals company better than people, animals are more honest and true.years ago i had a black and white great dane that i took almost everywhere with me he weighed about 175 lbs.he was named louie.which is where i get my e-mail address from...louie175lbs@charter.net in memory of my very best friend .now i have a 20 lb pug named zeus and he is as special as louie was. have a great day...Billy

Right now I have two cats and a german shepard, which I don't have a picture scanned of. The two cats I have pictured aren't the two cats living now. The himilyian on the right (Sebastian) passed away Oct 24, 2001. The one on the left is my baby, Cally. She's my world, and Sebastian used to be her world. The one not pictured is a brown tabby, I want to say. Both at 14 years of age, Sebastian was 9 when he passed.
Maurice my German Shepard is a PESSSST! He's going to be 3 years in december. We adopted him when he was 4 months old, he was rescued off the streets of Detroit. Overall great dog, besides the fact that he eats the cat food, and doesn't eat his, so our cats are forced to eat his food. :(

I tease her about having kitty-Parkinsons, because she sits & shakes, but she eats like a horse, & can still beat me in a race up the stairs (but maybe that's saying something about my speed up the stairs?! lol). She's doesn't hear or see as well as she used to, either.
But she's spoiled rotten, & has no major health problems, so I think she'll be around a while yet!

Loki isn't terribly social! I think she's too spoilt, & gets jealous. I can't pet the next door neighbours cat, because Loki will run over & rip into it if I do!
At her age, I wouldn't want to upset her by bringing in another animal.

On wed I found a wandering dog and by it's description to my clients that he is a yellow lab. Had no collar or tattoos or markings. We'll wait to see if anyone posts anything around the neighborhood. He is very sweet and looks to be about 10 mo to a yr. If we find the owner fine but if not we will keep him. I named him Scooby for right now but I'm not going to try extremely hard to find the owner. Chances are he's pretty spoiled right were he's at.....I'll get some pictures soon :)

Ctg,
LoL - be glad that you can turn off your "pets" when they become a pain in the arse. I thought that computers were evil that was until I was introduced to industrial sewing machines. Industrial vs. a home sewing machine. Daggum, its like putting a kid who has never been behind the wheel in a car that only goes 90 mph. Not only that other mechanical issues...we'll not go there because I got so many issues with the friggin machine. Each day a new glitch with the machine arises one after the other. I'm pretty sure it hates me but its gonna listen to me someday shortly....dunno when though.

looks lil Zeus is invisible? How's the lil ladies man? I miss my babies back home. My poor satanic baby isn't getting spoiled. My lil bitch is getting bred and mean people won't even let me have a puppy. Cruelty. I'll put some pics up whenever I can get my daggum scanner working.I fell in love with this baby bulldog. She was a doll and had a killer personality to go with it. Unfortunately, I would illegally house her if it weren't for the guy who comes and checks our apartment lives right above us - so hiding a dog wouldn't be so easy. Anyways, at least I got my rabbit. Hey, have you ever heard a rabbit growl or even yet seen one attack anything?

What is it about pets that brings us joy?
> Well, my life has always revolved around animals - mainly dogs but I've dealt with horses, hamsters, mice (sweet lil critters - friendlier than hamsters
- they love you unconditionally and regardless of where you fit in this world and will always be there by your side if there isn't done to misplace their trust
- you don't have to explain yourself to get their love and affection
(silence speaks louder than words)
- they act off of their survival needs not wants (with people its hard to know who is to trust or who wants what...etc.) - they don't think oh, I'm gonna do this so I can get this and make this person feel this way...they do what they gotta do in order to survive....
theres a lot more reasons to it than that though...its a personal relationship - treat them how you want them to be treated and take in consideration that you are the one who decided to bring them in your world and that it wasn't really their choice, animals only act a certain way because some people can't get to the root of the problem. getting to the root of the problem is quite simple in comparison to humans. what drives them is instinct and feelings but once the problem is found and dealt with properly you don't have to worry about all the drives people to do what they do which is much more complex than animals. some people think animals problems are more complex to deal with people based on the fact they aren't taking in account the obvious variables and eliminating the obvious and then looking for the unknown. its amazing what some people could learn if they just observed animals.
well thats it for now, there's more just can't get a finger on all of it - it'll come eventually...

I have two super adorable rescued rottweilers.
http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt82/ladyxlike/044.jpg
The big boy in the front is Durango. I've had him for just over two years and he's seriously the most handsome little man ever. And by little, I mean he's 130lbs, lol.
The adorable little girl is Sierra. As of wednesday she's coming in at 98lbs. Down from her usually 105 [this is good news!]. I've had her for 8 years come this April. The best snuggle buddy ever.
And for a little size comparison, here I am sitting on my Durango. :)

Uh oh...not a pet thread! :)
It is so great to see everyone's pets! I is also really cool to see so many bird owners. I had a lovebird named harley that died just after i moved to Texas :( He was so wonderful and I do miss him lots!
Also grew up with a springer spaniel who was the most wonderful dog. She passed away when i was 19 and it was the hardest time of my life.
Okay this is my time to do some happy dog mom bragging. We have three wqonderful amazing dogs. All three are rescues and mutts, Shelby, the eldest is a rottie mix, bailey is the middle and she is a catahoula/australian shepard mix and Cooper is the puppy and he is a lab mix (totally black but only 38lbs...kinda like a lab puppy forever). They are pretty much our children and we take them everywhere with us.
Here are a few pics of when we took them canoeing. They actually had a lot of fun and we plan to take them again this year. They also fly with us in out small airplane and bailey went swiming with the dolphins this year in S. Padre Texas.

We have 7 other ball pythons, but they are carrying recessive traits that aren't visible and they look just like a normal ball.
This is Bianca, my rescue kitty. Found her outside in the middle of winter at 3 weeks old. She is skittish like no other, but we love her.

I love your babies! And I was just about to ask whether they were snake food or not. :D
I breed mice, and once got the sexing horribly wrong. I inadvertently left a male in with a group of females, and ALL the girls got pregnant. Ended up with 100+ little babies, so I had to take the entire lot to the humane society. But I stood speechless when the girl at the desk took a look at my box o' mice, and immediately called the local 'Hawk Sanctuary,' announcing that they just got a load of 'pinkies.' Hey, but it is what it is, and the carnivores have to eat too.

Roscoe. the Fawn Great Dane.
Three Cats. They seem to hate me most days for no known reason.
Two mice. My daughter's mice, but since I clean their cage and feed them, they are obviously mine.
A Ferret. I love my weasel!
A horse which is registered to my husband, but it's down south being a brood mare on my mom's ranch.
I kind of want a ball python again though. I used to have one a few years back. They are really cool.

Ok, so here a thread we can post all our pets. I'll start if off with my baby Princess. Provided is a link to her residency. I had to put her to sleep in May. :( She was my baby.
I have more animals and as soon as I get their pics scanned I'll post them too.

The link doesn't seem to work. Anyway, our dog (of fourteen years) also died last month.
Whenever I come home, I feel sad knowing that he is no longer around. But, knowing that he did not have to suffer the ill effects of aging makes me smile.
I miss him. :)

My 14 month old Lab Charlie, who is the best hiking buddy ever!
The picture may look harmful, but its typical Charlie, always getting his big square head stuck into things! I don't know how it happened here, he just strolled in with a hanger around his neck with a look like he was saying, "No biggie."
(I promise it didn't hurt him.)
He may be hard to see, he matches the carpet.

These are my babies.
Tifa came first. A rescue kitten from the RSPCA. She is my little princess.
Then we got the big spotty monster Crash. He is my everything. I have been wanting my own dalmatian for about 12 years so he means a lot to me.
And last and very much least we needed a companion for Crash so we got the little spotty monster Arya. Who is the naughtiest little dog in the world but she makes Crash happy so she serves her purpose.

Beautiful pictures everybody! Love them!
1) Here is my 19 yo Holy Birman that I had to put down 2 mo shy of his 20th birthday.
Maximilian aka Turbobutt
2) My Angora Tofu, a rescue (cuz he was white, soft and good for you) that just passed away at 15.
3) Misaki, a rescue, probably a Siamese, ragdoll mix. Aka "queen of the effing universe", she is probably 10.
I added another rescue so Misaki do not have to be alone. He is photo-shy still. a handsome former big tom fighter. Scars all over so he has been fighting. He does not even try to get out. He likes it inside:-) I call him Kagemusha (Akira Kurosawa fans:-) because he is gray and a fighter.
If I wasn't a professional airline passenger, I would have a doberman or a German shepherd or a rottweiler or a Rhodesian ridgeback:-)

A scottie. Got him from the humane society. This was taken the day he came home, so he was still a little nervous. Also before we got him groomed, so he was kinda scruffy looking. I've had him for a good while now....about 10 years. He still has the energy to match a puppy.
And one more. This one was taken a good bit later. By this point he was pretty settled in and pretty much owned the place.

Thanks rollerpigeons, he is certainly keeps the whole family entertained, especially when he lets out this well-timed huge belch (learned from my boys sigh) when the MIL is around LOL
But I would love to have a cat as well again, all those cute kitty pics make me want! Sadly my youngest is allergic...
Love the grumpy look on your kitty kimm4, reminds me of those pics you get on facebook with funny captions below!

This innocent, charming pup, by name of Bertram Woofster, has actually just now BROUGHT A DEAD MOUSE INTO THE LIVING ROOM. I don't give him credit for killing it, but I have
informed him that he is a very bad boy indeed, and that similar acts in the future will not be tolerated. I will never forgive him for making me touch it with cardboard.

By some friends to whom I have related this story it is affirmed, by my description of the rodent, that it was, in actuality, a rat.

I don't have her anymore. I had to give her to a neighbor when I moved out and went to college. I miss her so much. She would give kisses, dance, say "thank you" and a few other short phrases, and groom my eyelashes. She even laid an egg once, it scared the sh*t out of me (it was the size of her head). I hope to get another bird someday. It's amazing how friendly and adorable a little parrot can be!
