Rob some of the locals actually run up and down Squaw Peak. Of course, I went up at a good clip, but I took the time to stop and take a few pics along the way. The top is awsome...what a view.

The other thing I noticed was that I think every big breasted, small waisted Hot woman in the Phoenix area was on Squaw Peak the day I was there. LOL That did make for a more enjoyable climb/view ;).

I felt like superman in the gym.

That is the end of my extra cardio this week. I just heard back from John, so hopefully he'll be making an adjustment or two.

This weekend is super busy. My basketball coaching debute is tomorrow at 2pm. We have practice tomorrow at 2pm and then I think noon on sunday. Sometime this weekend I need to find a way to fix my dishwasher or go out and buy a new one.

Oh........and at 6pm tomorrow the whole family is going to see a play......guess the name .

Yep...you guessed it......"Peter PAN" LOL. One of the girls I coach for softball is in the play as one of the lost boys. And Lord knows I can't resist a play about me :D:D ;).

Maybe sometime this weekend I'll find some time to just veg...but somehow I doubt it. :(

Have a great weekend everyone !

I must say I am surprised fitnessman doesn't post in your thread, I thought you two were buddies ? I mean, he seems to have the time to constantly change Hibiscus09's thread name all the time. Don't you and him hook up at the Arnold Classic each year, somewhere in the midwest ?

Went last night to see one of the girls I coach for softball in the play...Peter Pan. She was one of the lost boys.
This play was put on by the CYT (Christian Youth Threater). IT was awsome. They had Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael flying all over the place. The system of cables and such had to be extreamly complicated, as they were criscrossing each other all over the stage. Amazing really !

During the intermission we got to see Brenna (the girl I coach) and told her how awsome both she had been and the play in general.

I had been a bit down these last few days (happens every year around my b-day) and this play and the night out really did me good. Nothing like seeing a play about me :D Peter Pan to bring me back to my happy self. LOL

Yesterday was my basketball coaching debut. We have an awsome team with alot of talent. Most of the girls are really tall for their age and all have very good skills. Vicki my oldest who is pretty tall for her age is like the 2nd smallest on the team. LOL

I even got two of the dad (really nice guys) to be my assistants. Practice went well and today at 3pm we have another one.

My wife is starting a new job this week and I'll have to make some adjustments to my training schedule to accomdate the kids getting to school. I'll be running these changes past John just to make sure he doesn't have a problem with it. LOL

Oh.......we got about 4 inches of snow last night. The kids are out building a snowman, a fort ect.... as I type this. Me, I hate the thought of having to shovel. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggg.

Happy Sunday !

This white stuff sux...pretty to look at.... but give me 70+. If it could just snow for like two weeks here everyone would be happy. Start snowing about 3 days b4 Xmas...this would give us a pretty White Christmas, the kids could go sledding and do all that snowman and snowball fight stuff.......and then come Jan 2nd...........go back to 70 degs + LOL..........ahhhhhh.......isn't dreaming fun ?

Ahhh....the power of good food Chi. I know for me, I didn't start dropping my poundages until well into my contest cut. Next time it will probably be even less of an issue as I won't have as much fat to rid myself of and can lose it a little more slowly. Glad to hear everything is going well.

Ok, I did not even have a cake yesterday. I decided with the few cheats I have already had, that it was best not too.
I ate healthy all day and even had some thickly sliced roasted turkey breast for dinner.

I did give in however and I had almost a bottle of wine (it was yummie) and 3 gourmet chocolate cookies in place of the cake. Lately when I cheat at all........bam weight, sky rockets a few lbs at least.

This time the Birthday Gods must have been shining on me............I woke up 6 lbs lighter . Maybe it was the Dehydration Gods? LOL At least I get to enjoy looking more cut for one morning. :)

Today, I slept in (it's a cardio only day) and I will do my cardio this evening after work. I feel great, the rest did me good.

I never got tired of oats during contest prep. I don't know why. I even ate them dry, just sprayed with butterbuds and mixed up with splenda and cinnamon. They tasted good when I threw raw oats into the pan while cooking my eggs also. A tablespoon of salsa and it was good to go! :)

Hibs,
The is no way on god's green earth you could do that with the oats I am eating. Steel Cut oats are not like rolled oats.....nothing like them IMO. At work I have to microwave my steel cut oats for 10-12 mins before I can eat them. LOL

Good job on the weight pete, I haven't been to the shop in 3 days so I don't have a clue as to the weight. I am getting leaner, I took up 1 notch in the belt so it's working. We got about 3 inches of snow here yesterday morning, it changed to rain and we got 2" of rain on top of the snow. I spun the diesel around on I-95 so I need a new driver's seat because mine has a big ole chunk missing wherre my ass ate the centre out!:D

....let's see !

.............Start..........5weeks in...........Today(about week 10)
Forearm....13.................13.................. ..13 same
Calve........18.................18................ ...17.5-.5"
Bicep........17.................16.25............. ..16 -1"
Quad........24.................24................. ...24same
Chest.......44.................43.5............... ..42.25-1.75"
Waist.......37.................35.75.............. ..35 :D-2"

Weight....228...............224................... 212.8 :D

Forearms not changing I expected. Calve decrease I can live with......they are still stronger then HELL. Chest and bicep size losses I expected but do not really love. (a mental thing making me feel small, even though I know I am not.) Waist going down and quads hanging strong.......YIPPIE ! My quads have gained a bit of muscle while losing fat and I owe that all to the nutrition and my going back to leg pressing like a madman. LOL (and my leg routine in general)

Weight fluctations have been crazy, but some of that has been my suppplements and mostly water fluctuations. When I got back from Thanksgiving Holiday in Phoenix, I weighed about 235+. Today, just what, slightly more then 2 weeks later...I am 212.8

What I like most, is the way my training is going in the gym and the results in the mirror. With just under 12 weeks to go, I feel pretty good about reaching my goal.

Happy saturday !

About a 1/2 hr ago, I bought my first pair of 34" waist Kaki pants in like..........forever. I have not had this small a waist since probably early High School, if that.......I know, I know, pretty SAD...but for me this was a huge Mental BOOST !

Leon and Mark,

Thanks guys !

I know this is certainly the craziest time of year to even consider cutting. I knew that with the holidays in the schedule here, that things would be extra tough. I am committed to this........for MYSELF...not for anyone else.

I am sure I'll be putting on a good 6-10 lbs (mostly all water) from Xmas Eve and Day's festivities.

Oh......dishwasher was not worth saving.......just got back from picking up a new one. That will be tomorrow's project.

This year I just decided not to do outside lights. We have a ton of stuff in the house and in all the windows. (We have a two story colonial house)

LOL..........I gotta laugh today.

Ok, I am at the gym at 5:25am. As I put my stuff in my locker, my cell rings.........it seems my garage door will not go down........So.......I ahve to leave the gym and go take care of it. Of course, it looks like the door opener might be trashed. (another thing I need to replace probably. This is rediculous.........this year alon we replaced the Stove, the Fridge, the dishwasher and now probably the garage door opener. That's not counting the new entryway, windows, roof, siding and gutters we put on the house a few years back. Oh......and the water heater went out last year too. Arrrrrrrrrrgggggggg........does it ever end ? I know it doesn't this is my 2nd house. LOL

Anyway, I got the door closed and headed back to the gym. Needless to say there was only time to life and noi time for cadio......that will be tonight after work.

Today's madness: chest/tris/calves

Chi, I know exactly how you feel about the appliances, etc. Home ownership just sucks sometimes. We routinely have to return half of the electronics that we buy, 'cuz they're broken right out of the box. It seems like I can watch appliances age by the minute. Before you know it, you're replacing something that you just bought. You're like, "Didn't I just buy that last month?". But it was actually four years ago. :( We just bought a new dryer and the delivery guy noticed some scratches on it, so we got a $75 gift card. That was cool, 'cuz the scratches were hardly noticeable. However, the heating element broke a week later, so we were without a dryer until they could come out and fix. Nothing has broken since, but we are getting a new dishwasher for Christmas. I'm sure that will break right after I put it in.

Oh the joys of owning a home! :)

Weight fluctating all over the place. I had a few extra carbs this weekend and about 400-600 extra cals for the last 3 days. I really felt like I need those cals and carbs both mentally and physically. Of course it's driving me insane seeing my weight fluctuate as much as 10 lbs in a2-3 days.

Tonight's cardio :

30 mins stepmill (fatburner plus mode, level 7)
20 mins treadmill (135 bpm)
+ 10 mins stepmill, level 7, double stepping :D

If I can get past this next week without doing too much damage, I should be fine. I stopped going out of celebrating New Years a long time ago. It's a quiet night at home with the family, usually watching a movie before tuning into Dick Clark's New Years Rockin Eve. LOL

I am still waiting to hear back from John on my next changes to make to things. I know he's been really busy lately premoting his book that came out last month. In lue of this weight fluctuation, I have taken it apon myself to add a few extra moderate cardio sessions this week.

Ok........so yesterday was legs........on this program I have not done any cardio on leg day. Yesterday like a smartass that I am......I head to the gym after work to just do a measley 30 mins on the stepmill. Now keep in mind I blew it out in my leg WO in the morning. With about 5-7 mins left in the stepmill WO, I really start feeling like ****....weak, disorientated a bit, you name it. Then it strikes me......I was way too low on carb intake and missed about 50-70 g of carbs I normally take in before 5pm........this explained it. (very busy at work, got distracted and missed some of my carbs) Of course I finish my 30 mins on the stepmill.........and head home to shoot down a shake and add some maltodextrin. I feel much better, thank you !

Ok, this morning was cardio only:

With the PL comp a few weeks before, I ain't promising being in the best of shape because the minute the strength starts to tank, that'll be the end of the cut. I'm holding at a 630 dead and I think that'll be enough to stave off the rest of the old bastards in my division.:D I'd still like to dump about 15-20 more lbs though. I've started ramping up the cardio a little too, 10 mins before, 15 afterwards. Hopefully that'll be enough to keep me not looking like I just inhaled the doughnut factory when March rolls around and before anyone says it, I frickin' hate doughnuts!! Amazing how pumped these carbs make me.

Oh.......a little story from last night. I was out running my last few shopping errands. At Toys-R-Us I run into one of the moms of a girl I coached fallball softball this year. Frankie runs up to me hugs me and goes on to ask me if I have been training like an animal because she thought I looked great. Now keep in mind I am in a huge winter parka and shopping. She made my night. I told her I was training alot and thanked her for the compliment.

I have not seen her since about late October, so it's obvious my hard work has payed off so far.

Tonight I am off with 4 other couples to have a childless dinner and see a wonderful band that plays everything from 60's to today's music.

Have a Great Christmas Everyone !

Now, this is a thread name that fits me.
This will be the most Anabolic I've been in months. LMAO :D

The weekend has already started right.........I had a great cigar, two glasses of AWSOME WINE and am about to shower so we can go out and have some fun tonight.

HOT DAMN ! This ANABOLIC MONSTER is VERY HAPPY ! LOL

Not sure what I will be drinking later tonight but I just thought of that song......"Tequilla makes her clothes fall off".......shots maybe? ;)

Merry Christmas to you too.

Rob,
Liquid panty remover.........LMAO.
If I were single, last night I would not have needed that.

Why does having so much fun hurt so much the next day ? I had a blast last night. The Food was good, the comapny was good, the drinks were better and the Band we saw was AWSOME ! We danced and drank until almost 2am. It was a mix of ages at this place. The older I get the more I laugh at the younger crowd as I watch them in their dating and hitting on each other rituals.

I was coming back from the restroom at one point and this couple bumped into me. I was apologetic even though they bumped into me. The woman grabs me and starts dancing with me. I had no idea who she was or why I was dancing with her, but it was fun. By the time I get back to where our group was, I can tell the whole group was watching what just took place. I said, "I have no idea who that woman was, but she sure can dance well."
Right after this one of the Hostesses comes up to me and asks in front of our whole table......if I give lessons. Now anyone who knows me, knows I am far from a great dancer, but I can hold my own. :) There was a crazy but very nice crowd of people there last night. The lady who forced me to dance with her, later in the night came upto me and gave me a Christmas Hug and wished me a Happy Holidays ! That's twice in two days I have women I bearly know or don't know at all Hugging me. LOL

Of course I probably drank a ton of calories last night (the bar bill sure confirmed that) but I don't care and I know that I HAD A BLAST !

I will not be weighing myself this week.
Not sure I could handle the numbers.

Heading to the gym in a little while to crank out chest and tris. These next 8-9 weeks are going to be tough as hell. I have a busy travel schedule in early January..so focusing and making sure I get my WO's in is going to be a challenge. Some of the places I am headed too are going to make it quite challenging to even find a gym. While I am going to have to be flexible with my training because of this......I am not going to cheat nutritionally even once from here to the Arnold. I can't....not and come close to what goals I have set for myself.

Even if and when Fitty comes to chi_town.......I am going to have to pass on the drinking and eating.....we can make up for it at the Arnold. LOL

Overall I had a wonderful Christmas. Christmas Eve was a bit subdued, but Yesterday at my brother's house we laughed our asses off and had a very fun time. The food was fabulous, the wine extra special and most of all the company was great. This was probabably the most fun I have ever had with my brother and sister-in-law on Christmas.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time with the family ..... they can surprise us sometimes!!! LOL

Ok, did I really drag ass getting to the gym.
There were 5 zillion kiddies there when I got there too.

That's ok, I put my Nano on and did my thing, paying no attention to anyone or anything. LOL I decided to do a light chest WO and really crank up tris and calves.

Dips 4 sets (20, 15, 10, 10)
Flys 4 sets (12, 10, 8, 8) (new high the last set :D)
incline DB presses 3 sets (10, 8, 6)

Cable tri pulls 3 sets (12,10,8)
Skulls 4 sets (10, 8, 8, 6) NEW PB by 10 lbs the last set :D
My freaking tris was exploading literally. I mean HOT DAMN, ALL THOSE BAD CARBS THESE LAST 3 DAYS DID DO SOMTHING. LOL My Tri's had the biggest pump I have ever experienced in my freakin life..........IT WAS INSANE !
2 sets of Kickbacks......both new PB's......I WAS AN ANIMAL.

Hack squat calve raises 4 sets (21,21, 18, 18) (My style)
Leg press calve raises 3 sets (20, 15, 12)
Rotory calve machine 3 sets (THE WHOLE DAMN STACK) (18, 15, 12)

Of course I had not tortured myself enough and I headed over to the stepmill  20 mins on the stepmill (level 6) followed by 30 mins on the treadmill (130 bpm).

I am really will be focusing on keeping heart rate in the target area of 120-135 bpm......with some added cardio and I am sure decreasing cals coming I need to do this to ensure maximum muscle preservation. I'll need to start tanning in a few weeks as well. Hopefully they'll have the 2 for 1 purchases at the tanning place this winter also.

I was SWOLE and pumped like a MOFO today. I can see what the carbs did to my midsection, but I believe it will all be gone by the end of the week, if not sooner. It's amazing how a couple of days of different eating really makes a huge difference........and then how getting back on routine.......and bam.......back to normal and on track.

SLDL's 3 sets (12, 10, 8)
Walking Lunges 4 sets (15 reps each)
Seated leg curls 3 sets (12, 10, 8)
Seated leg ext. 4 sets (12, 10, 8, 6) Whole stack the last two sets :D

Seated crunch machine 3 sets (20, 20,15)
Leg raises 4 sets (20, 20, 15, 15)
Kneeling pope crunches 3 sets (15, 12, 10)

Believe it or not I still managed to crawl on the treadmill for 20 mins after all of this.

Tonight I stopped at the gym after work and did 20 mins stepmill and 30 mins treadmill (130 bpm)

Tomorrow : Shoulders and calves (god I love doing shoulders)

Today's weigh in was not pretty....it seems my body is a sponge and easily puts on 10-15 lbs......when the wind blows even. LOL The good thing is my waist has remained the same :D.

Shoulders and Calves today !

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE trianing SHOULDERS ?

Seated Arnold DB presses 4 sets (10, 8, 8, 6)

Supersetted:
standing lateral raises 5 sets (10, 10, 8, 8, 6)
....with seated bent over lateral raises (starting under the legs on the edge of the bench) 4 sets (10, 8, 8, 6)

Laying 30 deg lateral raises 3 sets (10, 8, 8)

Standing rows 3 sets (10, 8, 8) (New PB last set :D )

Shrugs 4 sets (15, 12, 10, 10)

1 last set of standing lateral raises (light weight as many as I could crank out. Only hit 22 reps before falling over.....LOL

Off to hit Calves.......another body part I love working (right Lisa ? ;) )

Hack squat calve raises 4 sets (21 reps each, my style) AWSOME ! Talk about burn that last set.
Seated hydrolic machine calve raises 3 sets (20 - 300 lbs, 15- 405 lbs, 12-500 lbs)
Rotary calve raises 2 sets (whole stack) 10, 8

Calves were smoked and shoulders were more burnt then I have ever done them.

Of course I wasn't done  30 mins treadmill (125 bpm) nice easy pace.

Almost forgot..........LMAO...........

Tonight's cardio after work :

30 mins stepmill fatburner plus program at level 6
+ 30 mins treadmill (130 bpm)

Thanks Mark....right now I don't think my intensity in the gym could be any higher. Now if I can make it through all this travel I have coming up and continue my training without too much interuption, I'll be fine.

I am heading to Ft. Lauderdale (actually working in Belle Glade...YUK ! LOL ) tomorrow early for two days of bizz. I am bringing pretty much my own food for the 2 days.

Next week I am off to Moorefield, WV with my new machine and could be there 3-10 days. I am hoping for 3, come home for a few days and then return there on the weekend to finish off the project. 06 looks like my travel could be double what it was in 05. It can make it tough on training and nutrition.......but I will do what I have to do at least upto the Arnold.

Sorry for not being around much and not posting in alot of the threads I usually would, but right now life is very busy.

Happy Hump Day !

Ok, I got stuck in Fla until today. I overslept this morning and missed my 6am flight .....and NO I WAS NOT DRINKING last night. BUt I did hit the riverwalk in Ft. Lauderdale and had a wonderful grilled chicken salad at a place called "The Ugly Tuna" :)

So I miss my flight and get to the airport just b4 6am.....they put me on a 11:29am flight. So I go sleep on these really comfy couches for 3 hrs before getting back up and getting something to eat b4 my flight. (Turkey sandwhich and 2 diet snapples)

So I get home almost 4pm and want to go train. I get to the club and it's CLOSED ! I am like..WTF.....it's only 5pm on new years eve.....don't thgese bastards know CHI has goals to meet ? LOL..........ok, I know it's new years eve and I am probably the only retard in 50 miles who would rather go train. :)

Oh....almost forgot...........

While in WV......the hotel had an exercise room (not a gym IMO). They had two treadmills, one recumbant bike, an exercise matt, a bench and no weights other then Db's from 10 lbs to 35 lbs. I do not believe this town has a gym.....a real gym. Damn !

I made due the best I could. Supersetting DB's at extreamly high reps. Did a million crunches and leg raises and hit the treadmill like a maniac monday night, tuesday morning and again wednesday morning.

Today was back to my normal gym. :D

Shoulders and calves:

DB Arnold Presses 4 sets (10, 8, 8, 6)
Standing side delt raises 4 sets (10, 10, 8, 8) supersetted with bent over lateral raises (seated bending over on the end of a bench starting with db's under my legs) 4 sets (10, 10, 8, 8)
Standing Rows 4 sets (10, 10, 10 8)
Shrugs 4 sets (15, 12, 10, 10)

Hack squat calve raises 4 sets (my style) 21 reps each set
Leg press calve raises 3 sets (15, 12, 12)
Rotary Calve raises 3 sets (15, 12, 10)

I did 3 sets of cable crossovers for the heck of it.

Finished off by Drop setting standing lateral raises......45's, 35's, 25's and then 20's until my shoulders screamed like a mofo. LOL

30 mins treadmill @ 130 bpm :D

The first one made me very happy this morning.

Remember when I started this, my tanita scale told me I was somewhere between 15-17% BF. At the beginning my readings would really fluctuate (by about 1-1.5% depending on a few factors...salt intake, hydration, carb intake, ect.).

This morning I got on the scale before I headed to the Gym to do my morning cardio. Now keep in mind between Thanksgiving and Christmas I was consistantly reading 11.2% to 11.7% on the tanita scale. This morning was 10.2% :D. I still feel when I look in the mirror as if I am higher then that. But what I do know is the reading is continuing to go down. I am stronger then hell in the gym overall and I like what is becoming the weekly changes I am seeing in the mirror.

2nd thing to report

What I did for cardio this morning: LOL

20 mins stepmill + 30 mins treadmill @ 130 bpm.

I figure I better start tanning early this year.
Afterwards I went to Tan for a quick 10 mins. Yes it was Naked Tanning again this year. LOL  ;)

I still need to get my tanning bed hooked up. It's got some kinda stupid industrial 220 plug on it. I need an electrician, damn I hate electrical crap!!

I have a EE, so I think that qualifies me. LOL
If we lived closer, I'd be happy to come hook you up.

I did only 10 mins on the tanning bed today because I did not want to turn a nice shade of pink....especially with me making my basketball coaching debute today at 4pm. (yes, I am vain:eek: ) It's our 1st regular season game. Tomorrow is game #2 at 1 pm.

Of course next time I go tan I am going to bump it up to 15 mins cause I am not even slightly pink. ;)

Not only are Fitty and I the founding father's of the bb.com get together at the Arnold, but also I am the Master of taking pictures with the booth hotties.

Mark, remember when those yougens were standing by that one booth afraid to take a pic or ask that one Hottie for a pic ? Remember what I did ? ROFLMAO

And let's not forget the way Laura Mark stalked me last year. LMAO. Valentina, I still think was ready to scratch Laura's eyes out after seeing the way she was hitting on me. ;) This year, I am hoping to be stalked, but not by any of those women from last year. ;)

Almost forgot.............

My oldest daughter's basketball team, which I head coach, won today 22 to 12. Vicki played really well. Yesterday she took a shot to the mouth which kept her out most of the 2nd half, but today she came back and played hard....fat lip and all. LOL We had another one of my girls take a hard pass to the face yesterday too...which gave her a shiner and kept her out the 4th quarter.

Today, every one of the 8 girls on my team scored today. My team plays awsome defense and executes pics/screens to perfection.

Fun was had by all today including my assistants, myself and all the parents who came out. One of the referees even told me after that game that my Vicki played great and that our team was very improved from yesterday's game. He said that we executed the pics/screens better then he has ever seen from a girls team of 5th and 6th graders.

No injuries today and with our Defense and the way we are improving Offensively with good ball movment, we should do well. Most of all, the girls are having fun.

Legs and abs

Squats 3 sets (10, 8, 6)
Leg Press 4 set (12reps-16 plates, 10reps-16plates, 10reps-20 plates)
I supersetted Leg press with SLDL's 4 sets (12, 10, 10, 8)
Walking Lunges strapped to 85 lb DB's 4 sets of 15 (god are these taxing. I get dizzy doing these.......LOL)
Seated leg ext 2 sets (10, 8)
seated leg curl 2 sets (12, 10)

Legs were smoked....moved onto abs :D

Hanging knee raises 3 sets (30,20, 20)
Kneeling rope crunches 4 sets (20, 20, 20, 20) Last two sets were both PB's with the last one beating the 3rd one. :D

They seem to be something I am really having fun doing. LOL

After all of this........I had some time before work so I walked......very slowly (3.5-4 mph) for 20 mins on the treadmill.

After work tonight was....

Vicki loves having me coach Softball and now Basketball.
She loves talking with me about the upcoming games and about the games we played. She speculates and analyzes everything (like her dad :D lol).

Softball she plays pretty much all positions except catcher (though she did catch a few innings this year) Her strengths are Pitching and 1st base. Being a lefty, she is idealy suited for 1st and being one of only 2 lefty pitchers, she really gets alot of girls to swing, sometimes at questionable pitches because of the different angle a lefty has. BUt don't get me wrong, she also is probably in the top 3 in control for the 11-12 year olds. She walks almost nobody. And....is the best fielding pitcher in the league IMO. (can ya tell I am proud of her ? LOL)

For basketball she plays more shooting gaurd and small forward then anything else. She is the best pick/screen setter on the team actually. :D

Ok my travel schedule just got crazier. LOL

Jan 12th (this thursday) I fly to Atlanta and fly home the same night.

Jan 15th (this sunday) I fly to Toronto and stay there until late tuesday night.

Jan 20th (Next friday) I fly to DC and drive to WV and stay there until the following wednesday (the 25th).

The 26th (a thursday - the day after I get back from WV) I fly to Oklahoma City and stay for 2 nights and fly home Saturday really early on the 28th.

The 28th and 29th I have a basketball practice, a softball pitching practice for my returning pitchers and a basketball game to coach. LOL

Talk about busy!
Training will be tough, but I am planning on just doing the best I can during this streatch. At the very least, I should be able to get in a bunch of cardio.

These Bastards (my work and our customers) better allow things for me to slow down in feb., which is my last 4-5 week push before the Arnold. LMAO

Off topic note : Both my girls won their basketball games today. Val's team got their first win today and it was a good one. Vicki's team played awsome today. By the 4th quarter, we dropped to a zone, just to give the other team a chance, they could not handle our man-to-man D.

Today I decided to sleep in and get this old body some rest. LOL My doing all these reverse grip chins are taking a toll on my tricep tendons (really sore). I am taking a week or two off from doing these.

After coaching another basketball game today at 3pm, I get to go straight to the Airport and head to Toronto on bizz. Other then some cardio over the next two days....I am planning on resting.........if you can call it that......I'll probably be working 14-16 hr days monday and tuesday.

Later this week I plan on taking some measurements and maybe a few update pics. Things are going well, but I have to stay focused for this final push (6 weeks) until the Arnold. Just based on my progress so far, I am seriously considering prepping for a local show later in the year.

You all have a great start to your week !

Damn, I did not have internet access while I was there. I just flew home tonight. If I would have known you worked at the airport, I would have said hi and watch you drink a beer. LOL Me, I'd opt for a Diet Coke.....the beer just doesn't fit right now in these final weeks before the Arnold.
Maybe next time, I am sure to be back there a few times a year usually.

Ok...my Arnold DB presses were tough today for some reason. Why ? I have no idea. LOL But the rest of the WO I rocked the house....or should I say shoulders and calves ?

DB ARnold Presses 4 sets (10, 8, 8, 6)

supersetted standing lateral raises with bent over seated lateral raises.

Standing lateral raises 4 sets (12, 10, 10, 8)

Leg press calve raises 3 sets (20, 15, 15)
Rotary calve machine 3 sets (15, 10,10) Last 2 sets the whole stack :D

This WO was so taxing and high in volume that there was NO WAY I could even think about cardio after this.

So after work tonight it was 20 mins stepmill + 40 mins treadmill @ 130 bpm. I shot down my protein drink post cardio and I am sitting here typing this all up drinking a "Depth Charge" Dark roast coffee with 2 shots of expresso in it. Hopefully I can sleep tonight....I have a 6am workout in the morning, a haircut to go get, a function at our church with my kids.....and then basketball to coach......all by 2pm. Talk about busy !

in 11 inches of snow.

Not bad for a beginner, eh?

LMAO...........no Joed........I don't drive the Z most of the winter. I have an older Honda Accord for bike hauling and winters.

Ok, I have some serious signs of overtraining that hit me yesterday. Last night before meal 7, I hit the gym for my evening cardio.

I do......20 mins stepmill + 30 mins treadmill (130 bpm)

Towards the end of my 30 mins on the treadmill I get light headed and start feeling cold. It is not cold in the gym either....and I am normally hot blooded. LOL I finish my 30 mins.......down a protein shake, hit the steamroom for 5 mins, shower and head home.....feeling like **** all the way.

I get home and have meal 7 (6 oz salmon & 2 cups of brocolli) and still feel like crap. I breakdown and think ....."maybe I am just too low on carbs today"......and I have 5 small pretzel rods. I still feel like ****. It becomes movie time at home and I hit the couch and find myself aching like a mofo and feeling like overall crap.

Needless to say, I slept in today and will not train other then maybe one cardio session over the next 2 days.

I am sure this is overtraining as I feel a bit better today. With my travels, I have had to get my training and cardio in when I can. I did two-a-days (lifting/cardio am and cardio pm) wed, thurs, friday and yesterday (saturday). I am convinced that I am too old and I train to hard to do that. My CNS simply cannot handle that much without a break. The good part is.......I am smart enough to recognize the signs of overtraining. LOL

In about an hr.......it's off to coach basketball again. :D
Yesterday we played the Amazon team. This team had 3 girls who were all 3-5 inches bigger then our tallest girl. The league is suppose to spread the height around to ensure fairness.....but apparently this team had a bunch of girls grow 6 inches since registration. LOL Anyway, we lost by 2 points. My girls were down by as much as 12 points but came back to only lose by 1 basket. I am so proud of how they played. They never gave up and they put up 8 points in the last 1.5 mins. Must be a testiment to the great coaching they have ;).

Happy Sunday !

I'd definitely say overtraining bro!! You're not 18 anymore (I'm going to copyright that :D). I train balls out for 5 days in a row and I have to do 2 days off to recover, especially now with these really heavy power days, the low carbs and I was fending off a cold the first part of the week. I think my new herbal attack worked, I need another time to say" Yea it should work". I'm not like the supplement comapnies, lol.

I got your pm.

Rob,
I was only on day four of in a row days of training, but I was doing cardio both am(20-30 mins) and pm (50-60 mins) on those 4 days. My level of intensity is through the roof lately. My recovery is awsome, but I guess my CNS is the one limiting me a bit right now.

I may not be 18 anymore, but I'll tell ya one thing. I am better then when I was 18, in many departments ;) :p.

Basketball update. Both my girls won their games today.
Vicki's team (the one I head coach) played awsome. Vicki scored 2 baskets, set some key picks and made some bigtime rebounds....not to mention played stellar defense as did the whole team. We were down almost the whole game by a few baskets.....then in the 4th quarter they blew it wide open with some great defense and some Michael Jordan type plays on offense. It was AMAZING to watch. It's a shame these girls can't play together for more then just this 10 game season. We are 6 games into the season and we are finally starting to become a team and learn how to win and play together. But this league is a rec league and it is the way it is. LOL The coaches and parents went nuts when we took the lead and went on to win by 6 points after trailing for 3+ quarters.

GOD I LOVE COACHING ! :D

I GET FREAKING STUCK in my driveway at 6:15 am.........ARrrrrrrrrrgggggg. A neighbor came and pushed me out.

LOL -- now that's something that never happens in the sunny South. :D

Ha,ha joed. I like the poetry. Apparently, the Z is his summer car. :D

Only on day four in a row? Silly boy. Didn't you just turn 40? ;)

Congrats to your girls! That is so cool. Now, THEY are young enough to play hard without it making them sickly. The elderly have to be careful!

Have a great week! Hope you're feeling better. :)

Your beautiful wife was such a sweetie. You are a very lucky man there buddy to catch someone like M. I hope she didn't get too mad waiting in the truck as we stood there bull****ting like we did? In any event, YOU and M rock.....definately my kind of people. :)

Remember, first round is on you buddy!

I thought about it, but I figured in that neck of the woods I might hear the deuling banjos if I did. LOL

Back on topic
I seemed to have either hurt my shin doing rotatry calve raises or from my increased cardio I have develped shin splints. My freaking shin is killing me. I have not been running at all lately, just stepmill and treadmilling it at 4 to 4.5 mph (to keep heart rate lower), so I doubt it's from that, but it sure feels like shin splints.

I can't afford not to do cardio with just over 5 weeks left.
I am going to hit the gym in a few mins here and may try and do some stationary bike and see how that feels. I am not liking my chances of doing much cardio this next week. ARrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg

Columbus will "probably" never be the same again, lol!! It was great to meet you too. M taked about you the whole way home.

As for the dueling banjos down there, no, but up here where I live, more than likely, lol!!

What you were describing sure as hell sounds like splints to me bro. My legs started spasming 1/2 way through dinner, the mark of a good leg workout! Ease up on the calf workouts a little and see if that helps at all. Better to do the cardio and not calves. I don't do anything when biking season hits on calves, they get enough on the bike.

I am convinced it is shin splints. I think the only thing that will help is hot and cold compresses, some iceyhot and just staying off my feet. I have no idea how I'll be able to do that much other then for the next 1.5 days, because thursday night I head to Oklahoma on bizz........shlepping through airports........ect.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggg.........damn, this is the WORST FREAKING TIME FOR A fricken INJURY. I better heal by the start of next week. Aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I am skipping legs this week and will go straight to my shoulders tomorrow and may even skips calves which I usually do with shoulders.

Bummer about the shin splints, Petey. Give 'em some time to rest a bit and don't push 'em. On the other hand, hey...new PB! :D
