Hello & congrats on starting your journal :)
I wish ya the best of luck on journey. I was looking at your split and wondering if arms tri/bis same day might be too much if you are lifting really heavy. Same thing with shoulders & chest. Just a thought. I look foward to reading your journal :)

Do you think it would be better to do chest and tris, back and bis, and shoulders and abs??
let me know what else you had in mind - and thanks :)

I switch up my routines alot. I have nothing set in stone but that is just me some days I want to work just part like I tusualy do chest/tris but I notice that sometiimes my tric workout suffers cuz I'm tired if I have a high voplume chest workout. You could do what you mentioned above or back/shoulders/bis
or back alone
shoulders/bis
Like if you have some that needs more work you could dediacte one day just for that. You can do what you originaly said also.
I'm sure once the girls get in here they will have tons of ideas to help.
Hope this helps, I'm no expert :)

Where are you competing? I'm entering my first show (but fitness, not figure) 6 months out (less one day).
Wow another figure competitor, way to go. Wish you all the best, enjoy the journey, I'll be reading along.
Take care of you!

Bootysweat - thanks for the help on my split ... I'm going to play around with it a little bit and see what helps me get the best lift in. I'll let you know when I figure it out, keep the ideas coming!
MsJ - I haven't decided on a show yet. It'll probably be in the midwest somewhere. I know I'm aiming for March, and probably natural, so I figured I'd research more after I got my training down. If you have a journal, I'll definitely be checking it out. Props for doing fitness, too! I can't imagine doing all this and working on a routine (but then again I have no dance/gymnastic ability whatsoever!) I'm sure you'll be great!
Leen - are you competing in figure? i'll look for your journal! best of luck to you too!!
Okay, now for the journal:
730 coffee w/ splenda
800 1 c egg beaters, 1/2 c oats
930 2 scoops protein w/ water
1200 whole wheat wrap with chicken and veggies
100 skim latte
300 light n' fit carb control smoothie
400 apple with unsalted roasted peanuts
830 baby carrots and 2 scoops protein w/ water
flat db press 15x15 - 20x12 - 25x10 - 30x6
incline db press 15x12 - 20x10 - 25x6
incline flyes 15x12 - 20x10 - 25x6
arnold press 12x12 - 15x10 - 20x5
alternating front and lat raises 8x12 - 10x8 - 12x6
reverse flyes on incline bench 8x12 - 10x10 - 12x8
so, this was my first day back in kind of awhile. i'm sure it shows. hoping my strength will come back and i can increase my weights soon.

Kiwi is a machine and is entering into physique and i havent decided yet, depends on how my body reacts to the training and dieting!!

The advice I had gotten about cardio was to keep it scarce right now, and don't do it the day before legs.
That meant I took today completely off ... it felt so weird. It's hard for me to be taking a whole day off when I'm preparing for something like a comp.
Oh well ...

okay, so i'm a slacker. luckily it's not in the gym, it's just on the computer. anyway ... training is going well. still sort of testing the waters and trying to figure everything out.
i've never tried to really gain before. it's sooo different!
i had an exam today that was terrible. i have never studied so hard for anything and felt so underprepared. i'm sure it'll turn out fine, it always does! i hit the gym straight after, it felt great to blow off some steam!
arms/abs -- don't laugh at how weak i am!
preacher curl 38 x 12, 38 x 12, 43 x 6, 43 x 4
concentration curl 15 x 12, 20 x 9, 20 x 6 - tried 25, couldn't do it :(
hammer curl 12 x 12, 15 x 9, 15 x 9, - tried 20, couldn't do it, either! :(
OH DB tricep ext 15 x 15, 20 x 12, 25 x 9, 30 x 6
Tri Cable Pull 40 x 15, 45 x 12, 50 x 12, 60 x9 - need to start heavier next time
Dips 15, 15, 15
Ball Crunches 20, 10x20, 15 x 20, 15 x 20
Reverse Crunches 15, 15, 15
Med Ball Twist (legs bent, feet off floor) 6.6 x 15, 10 x 15, 10 x 15
can't wait to see the weights go up!
oh yeah! quick question -- i'm noticing some water retention in the back of my arms (ew!) how do i get rid of it? what's it from?
been reading through some of the journals. sorry i haven't posted in any of them yet. still trying to get a feel for the boards. general statement though - you girls are amazing! i love seeing all the different goals and progress! keep it up :)
