the questions you ask for biceps and triceps, ask those same questions for every body part (chest, back, shoulders, traps, quads, hams, calves, traps, abs, forearms).

i'm not sure if i'm repeating what he's saying but you should add more exercises to the 1 rep max chart.
like the "barbell bench press" and "barbell curl" you have those 2& more now(6 in total) you guys need 10 in all and then bb.com can get a little/a lot more funner!

I can't post any answers at all.

When I click a category and this window pops out.

http://bay01.imagebay.com/_upload/img/26/fdsf.jpg

This happens when I click a category to fill in my answers and when I want to view member's answers.

1) I'm like the above except I don't get any message at all--I just find that my answers don't show up after I have clicked "save"

2) The questions assume that I workout at a gym (e.g. Do you socialize?). If there was a note in the drop down that said "work out at home" or "not applicable" that might be better.

Gym etiquette should include a question or two about racking weights, and maybe your preference for racking them. No one has a clue about racking weights at my gym or is even aware that most people dont want to dig through 45's and 10's to find a 25 plate.... its ridiculous and if i didnt work there i wouldnt train there for that reason. >:|

for instance, i believe the 45's on a smith machine should be placed at stomach/chest level, not on the back-breaking bottom post, same for Hammer Strength Equipment, and Benches. and at the very least, keep all weights racked together

I think more questions regarding cardio would be great. It'd be interesting to find out how others manage to stay motivated to do that extra 10 mins, or run that last couple laps.

- I attended the first Arnold Classic and got a Polaroid snapshot with Arnold himself. At the seminar the next day, I asked a question and it was recorded in an issue of the NPC News. (Yes, bodybuilding nerd alert! :))

Other bodybuilders I've met include Mike and Ray Mentzer, Larry Scott, Dave Draper, Lenda Murray, Frank Hillebrand, Ron Love, Jackie Paisley, Markus Ruhl, Gustavo Badell, Victor Martinez, Ron Teufel, John Grimek, and many others at the Arnold, and area bodybuilding competitions. I love this sport.

Sadly, both Mentzers, John Grimek, and Ron Teufel have passed away.

- I train because I want to build muscle and strength.

- I stopped because I was paying too much attention to an unhealthy relationship.

- The local Gold's Gym and also Planet Fitness are where I typically train, but tonight I visited the YMCA as Gold's wussed out because of a little snow! :D

- I have a training partner, but have no problem working out alone.

- No music other than what's piped into the gym. On squat days (5 or 6 minutes between sets) I might actually read a few pages from a paperback between sets.

Good questions. Thanks!

I want to Gain Muscle Mass so tell me plz what should i use ? can i use Whey Protein ?or tell me some good supplement thanks

I weigh about 185 and have been trying to eat about 200 to 250 grams of protein each day. Calories are important and I've been eating just over 4000 calories per day as well. Is it difficult to get lots of food where you are?

As a teen I could never get enough food, unfortunately and certainly didn't count grams of protein or calories.

Now that my eating is more on target, I believe it's been a benefit to my gaining weight, muscle, and strength.

Is this thread "read only"? Apologies in advance, but these are great questions!

I met Ron Teufel, Lenda Murray, Ron Love, Mike Katz, Bill Grant, Frank Hillebrand, Sonny Schmidt, Victor Martinez, Gustavo Badell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and more!

I train to maintain and hopefully improve my physique. Strength, appearance, counter the effects of aaaaging. :)

Planet Fitness and Gold's Gym both get membership fees from me.

I have a training partner, but enjoy working out alone as well.

Not a big music fan while working out. Whatever they broadcast over the speakers is good for me.

Who adds the questions to the current list? I mean from the suggestions below.

Ask what if we use free weights, machines and for what body parts and how far into exercise program.. I'd like to know how others use machines to complement their free weight workouts. If you're in the military how do you find time to workout?

vicky20jak
04-25-2008, 08:03 AM
Military or civil... personal fitness is a passion and the body which we use for each and every thing we do, surely deserves 1-2 hours per day...
as regarding free weights, when i initially started, i tried all three..mahines, barbells and dumbells. later on i stuck ro dumbells and purchased my own BOWFLEX SELECTTECH DUMBELLS and SELECTTECH 3.1 BENCH. Certain advantages of dumbells over barbells and machines are..
1. A set of dumbells provide with exercises that can give you full body workout.
2. You can carry your dumbells around.
3. Since tthe time i've purchased my dumbells, i don't have to go to gym and wait for my turn for a partiular exercise... or listen to some crap music which is being played. i workout at home with my favourite music being played in background.
4. I don't have to stick to gym timings. i have freedom to workout at 4 AM or even when waiting for dinner.

This is how i take out time even while being in military.

Lifting to much, some guys think they have to lift real heavy in front of others to make them look strong. Leave your ego at home , so what if your lifting the 20 pounds and everyone is lifting the 50 and 60, you'll get there one day as long as your train right lift smart strech before and after working out and take your time, your muscles arent going anywhere.

I think this should be read by everyone, any questions email me sector6331@aol.com

3 sets of 10 means, example if your lifting a dumbell you lift 10 times then rest and do it again then rest then lift again, you lift for a total of 30 times but split into 3 sets, resting between 45 seconds and one minute each ten reps

So I think i'm finally discovering how important my core is. Because I've decided that the muscle I gain has to be useful, I want to make sure I put it on the right way.

I've never taken good enough care of the bod - not enough stretching, or core exercises over the years of being active. And to be honest, if I was at the gym, I wanted the work there to be visible - chest, arms, legs - something you could see. Consequently my hips/pelvis have always been tight, even painful at times. I hate stretching, i'm not sure that it's dealing with some inherent weakness in there anyways. My sis is a pilates instructor and i'm thinking I might have something to learn there. Dumb idea? Any other suggestions?

I want to build the pyramid right this time, from the ground up so I don't get deterred by pain or injury. I appreciate the feedback!

most of the bbers lie about their supps and diet and throw phrases such as "super human metabolism" when they could be on some other stuff.

How about adding some widgets there calories calculator. Workout days calendar. Allow users to add their meal plan if any1 wanted to look at ur meal plan, they could by just clickin on that feature.

My question is this---We all see bodybuilders with huge rippling abs. ex. Ronnie Coleman Even though we all want a six pack, we want to keep our waist small as well. ex. Brad Pitt When you exercise a muscle it gets stronger, more toned, and bigger. What is a good ab exercise, and what is the proper number of reps, sets, and times per week to get a good, strong, ripped, core without putting a lot of muscle on your abs like a body builder? In other words, a ripped but lean six pack?

I'm guessing this board is not being monitored by BB.com developers any longer. Many users are complaining about their body answers not saving properly, but I don't see any responses.

Well, just in case:
I too was unable to update/save many body answers (a few went through, but they were the exception).

I can tell you I'm running a system with Vista (32 bit) and I tried using Chrome and Internet Explorer (version 7) - both browsers failed to save in the same areas.

Have you had a question about bodybuilding on a budget? Let's face it not only are supplements outrageous, but just getting good high quality food is expensive. I feel that is part of the reason why so many Americans, especially kids, are obese. Also the amount of soy proteins in school lunches might make an interesting discussion. I went to White Water park in ATL this summer and never saw so many young men with pointy breasts...it was creepy. (I kept my currently sagging 44 year old pecs beneath a t-shirt.)

not sure but your only 13. your body (bones and muscles) are still growing don't go to big or heavy and hurt yourself. tone and moderate size are great. don't be in a hurry to get huge, give your body a chance to grow. the bigger you get the more damage you can do to yourself. good luck and good for you on your motivation!

I have heard that after 45 minutes working out, testosterone is used up and continuing to work out for longer is a waste of time.
It's hard to get a lot of sets done in 45 minutes. Obviously, the faster you go, the higher your 'intensity' and intensity is a good thing; but there are limits.
How do you feel about this 45 minute rule?

My favorite exercise is the Leg press and on the body stats it is not an option where you can enter your max 1 rep leg press.

mwingo1135

I once wrote a message on here about a need to add Leg Press as one of the options to track. I now see why its not on there.

Its not there because its a machine assisted and the ones mentioned are free weight in nature.

Which is cool because bodybuilding has its site so well structured that you grow in your understanding of health and wellness the more you use the overall site.

Alright so im deployed right now and I have some questions. The gym here isn't exactly Gold's we dont have cables and still waiting. I have been working on the beach body look, for leave, since i got here with the usual trouble areas- Lower abs, lovehandles/obliques, and the very tip of my pecs underneath the nipples. These areas seem to be the hardest to get ride of that last little bit of fat. Any ideas? Also we really dont have a choice of what we eat here, but when i do i take fat into thought and try to eat as little as possible.

Are there any bodybuilders, fitness competitors, or weight lifters that has recently been diagnosed with cancer? Does anyone have questions concerning how to train around surgeries, biopsies, and cancer treatment such as radiation and chemo therapy?

Hey,

Im 16 year olds. 5 11 and weigh 167lbs im interested in dramatically increasing my body weight well at the same time not getting fat. I workout twice a day and have a very good routine that my hockey trainer has helped me put together. Along side with working out, i want to create an affective supplement plan. I currently have n.o 370, glutamine, carb complex, and pro 5 whey protein. I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions of a schedule of when i should use these. ie. before workout, after workout, during my rest days, with meals, and how often etc.. Also, if you have any suggestions of supplements that you use i would like to know.

Thanks,

What BBer's have you met

Why do you train

Why did you start/stop training before

What gym do you train at

Do you workout alone

What music if any do you listen to

So far I've only met Fouad Abiad who is a big inspiration to me and the one and only Ronnie Coleman. I train because I want to achieve a body I can be proud of. It takes a lot of hard work and it's something I love to do. I usually workout at home because it's easier and I have pretty much everything I need. I often only hit the gym on leg day so I can use the leg press machine.

I usuallu workout alone because I like to be able to get in the zone when I train. I dont like having to worry about other people around me. I usually have some rock music playing but it doesn't really matter. You shouldn't need music to get intense in the gym.

I find that the more incline pressing I do the better. I found the by doing flat bench for so long that I had almost NO upper chest. I began doing incline bench press, incline dumbbell press and pushups with my feet elevated and found my chest to become overall better.

Hope this helps

can some one expain to me what does reps mean and 2x6x6 or something like that. and what does 3 sets of 10 mean. im really new at this. m 18 years old just wan2 tone up

Reps refers to lifting the weight. For example 5 reps of barbell curl would be you curling the weight up 5 times.

3 sets of 10 means you do an exercise for 10 reps 3 times. If you were doing the barbell curl for 3 sets of 10, you would start by doing your first 10 curls, then take a break (45seconds - 2 minutes). Now you would begin your second set by doing another 10 curls. You take another break and finish with your 3rd and final set of 10.

Hope this helps

I looked through the questions and didn't bother to answer any of them. Any answers I put in are specific to what seems to work for me, what preferences I have, etc. None of that will be of use to anyone who reads it unless they are my clone - and as far as I know, I don't have one of those. Also, a number of the questions are way oversimplified, assuming the person uses just one training pattern and never changes it.

Wondering if I should be stuffing my face and doing moderate cardio or if I should be going all out with cardio in an attempt to drop my body fat percentage from 11 to a possible 9. 6'3" male 183lbs. Could anyone Help me with this question ??

I have Polands Syndrome - this is quite a rare condition that i was born with causing me to be born without a right pectoral muscle, it causes me alot of discomfort now and again but at the minute its becoming impossible to raise my arm above my head from the pain, ive been to the docs and there is not alot they can do apart from pain medication or surgery to transfer my lat muscle into where the pec is missing (which i would prefer to avoid). ive never been able to do anything that involves shoulders or chest =( this i have lived with so its become the norm for me ! But in January this year after training legs i was rushed into hospital and found out i had an inguinal hernia, i had this repaired but still get alot of pain and have become weak when it comes to squatting or evan simple sit ups !!!

Has anyone has either of these issues and how have you worked around them - my motivation is dropping and ive gained weight... i feel that i was never destined to train =( HELP PLEASE !!

Also on the workout tracker (which is awesome) When I delete an exercise in my workout template, the exercise above it, the information I entered is also deleted.

Hello I'm new to BB.com. I have a question that I never can get a lot of info on. How does a blue collar guy who works on the road all week start and keep a workout routine? I work off all week and stay in motels that most of the time don't have gyms in them I also have to share a company truck with5 guys through the week so I can't really go to gyms wherever I am. "Mostly because the towns I stay in are small and don't have gyms in them" also what is a good weight loss diet for a guy in my situation. Please help

Having the same problem. Was this ever fixed ??

It appears that they never knew about the problem. I messaged them and told them of my problem. I eventually had to make a fancy little video documenting my issue and they thought it was strange and that they had never seen it before so they forwarded it to the techies. Hopefully it's being worked on right now, but that was a few weeks ago and I have heard nothing since.
