Some BCAA products I am looking at contain ~2 grams of each BCAA (Leu,Ile,Val) per serving. But other protein powders contain just as much, if not more BCAA per serving (nlarge2 has 5 Leu 3 ile and 3 val,). So, why bother with a BCAA product?

Not dissing BCAA, just wondering.

ive wondered that too, but i guess it could be more convinient to pop some bcaa pills right before/after a workout than to make a shake. other than that im not too sure why you'd go for pills rather than protein

if you aren't looking for extra calories, but still want to supplement w/ BCAAs. Protein shakes also contain a lot of sweetners and other **** that doesn't really need to be in it either.

The bcaa's in your protein shakes aren't free form and need to be digested b4 they can be absorbed. Free form work right away and that can have benefits pre/during/post workout.

Right now I don't think there is any better way to get leucine and other free-form aminos into the muscle than AEN's IntrAbolic product. There's some good science on the benefits of including whey hydrosylate in the mix as well. I guess that's why they call themselves the nutrient timing specialists.

I prefer bulk leucine 1 kilo for $27 doesn't get much better than that :)

Actually I think it does get better, but depends on what your looking for. Yeah for the one ingredient, bulk leucine it is hard to be beat for that price.
leucine has benefits but once you get so much there is a limit to what it can do.
The problem I do have with bulk products is their standards of quality and assurance that you're getting what you pay for ie. leucine, etc... and not getting what you don't want/need...ie. heavy metals such as lead, etc...
Likely not GMP assured either.
