i have alot of trust in the ivanko company and i'm not sure who makes the power bar you linked.

ive been looking for the cheapest ivanko bar, since i trust that company as well, originally i wanted the obx bar, but it is too expensive for me, i even made a thread trying to find a cheaper one http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=5667771
but i think i definitely want the one from the link you posted, however i can see the difference in psi strength, its 85,000 psi as opposed to over 200,000 psi for the obx bar, any idea what that means as to how much weight the bar is capable of holding?
also, take note of the black oxide finish of the bar, its available with that instead of chrome, i like black :)

yeah the black one looks badass heh. honestly i have no idea what the difference is between the the 2 bars in terms of the max weight limit. My next bar will be the obx but i have some other things to get first. I'd just send an email to ivanko's customer service and see if you can get a response.
the way i figure it though, for home weightlifting, you spend 400-500 on the obx and i would guess it'll be pretty much the last 7' oly bar you ever need to buy.

The 85,000 psi ivanko bar is rated from 500 to 700 lbs. Although the obx is nice, I never buy into the comment that it is the last bar you will ever buy. Black oxide and chrome bars are known to rust easily and after time, may require replacement because of this. Stainless steel, on the other hand, will never rust.

i personally probably woulnd't get a bar only rated for 500-700, too close to the weights i use for a couple exercises like deads or rack deads. i prefer to buy bars that are way over what i think i'd ever lift on any exercise.
good info on the chrome/oxide rust issue. i'll have to look into it, if it's a real issue it could be more realistic to buy a cheaper name brand rated for higher poundage and just know you may have to replace it eventually. the only reason i had been considering a 500 dollar bar is that i assumed it would last me more or less forever.

For a little more than 200 shipped go with a Pendlay
http://store.wfwclub.com/economymensbar.html
That's not a Pendlay. This is: http://store.wfwclub.com/me20webar.html
And it's probably the best bar for the money. Texas power bar is also pretty good: http://store.sorinex.com/Texas_Power_Bar_Olympic_p/ob-1.htm
Best there is, is an Eleiko ($900): http://store.sorinex.com/Eleiko_20K_Competition_Bar_p/ecb-1.htm
or a Werksan ($730):
http://www.werksanusa.com/products-sets.asp
But the Pendlay ($360) is largely regarded as the real deal - top quality competition bar for cheap.
All of these bars have a static test of over 1000lbs.

OK, I don't know how the economy one stacks up. We'll I've read that it is a good bar for the price but personally I'd just get the good Pendlay one after wearing out my current bar ($100 troy barbell - probably 700lbs max) or once I have room for a power rack.

You pay for a bar that a) won't bend - low quality bars tend to bend at 500-700lbs. b) has good bearings - a bar which turns really smoothly is good for oly moves like cleans. c) durability - stainless steel won't rust. d) you can drop after an oly lift - low quality bars aren't intended to be dropped from chest height with 350lbs of bumper plates loaded on them.

May be one of the best posts on oly bars I've seen in a long while. Simple, informative, quick. I'd rep it twice if I could.

109.00 deilvered for olympic size barbll, 220 delivered for 1500 lb test
I have a CAP barbel "1500 lb test" black finish model. It bent with 700 lbs on a squat press, no drop. I also bent a CAP crome barbell at the ymca...I dont know that bar's rating but i bent it by dropping it on the squat rack with 485lbs on it. It really bent...like the weights would have slid off if the clips were removed.
