Does anyone here have any good sources on how to learn some basic Oly lifts without the help of a coach? I want to integrate Power Cleans into my MMA training but am not entirely sure on the correct form

I read the writeup on www.exrx.net but was wondering if anyone has any other info?

Thanks

I learned mainly on my own with a little help from the football coach.

Just check youtube for vids.

There are a couple good ones on there.

Check out the Tommy Kono vid on youtube about how to do proper snatches.

If you can, find a coach, it will seriously expedite the learning process and make sure you have as few flaws as possible.

If you don't already, get used to using a hook-grip.

cool long vid here http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3499046299656755519&q=olympic+weightlifting&total=1427&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=4

I think it would help a lot to find some photo or illustrated sequences of how to do each lift....that would give a decent idea of what u r trying to accomplish

Can i have some comments please?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'ms still learning the curve of the snatch, but because of the lack of facilities in my usual gym, I can't really train it.
This isn't my usual gym btw.

Impressive!

A little work on tightening up in your start position might help. Tighten your lats, pull your shoulders back, and get a 'big chest' with an arch in your back. Hold that position for the rest of the pull.

On your 1st pull, concentrate on lifting the bar by only extending your knees (straightening your legs) - like a legpress.

Don't let your hips rise early, keep the angle between your torso and the platform the same until you hit that full extension.

Little changes really, your form and speed are great considering you're learning the lift!

Some proper shoes would likely help out your stability in the bottom position. Maybe a few sets of drop snatches a couple times a week.

alright, thanks a lot for the comments. I shall rep you.

That's my first snatch ever, with a plate. All this while I did only with a bar.

I had to wait till everybody left the gym before I could snatch, and after that, I had great fun snatching all by myself. It was awesome to snatch alone, without any expectations from the other guys.

One more question guys. I have been watching videos of Power Cleans lately, and just trying to figure something out. Do you perform a full/partial front squat as you are racking the weight across your shoulders?

Also, with some of the sources I am finding, they include how to perform a Push Press aswell as showing how to Power Clean, are you supposed to perform a push press when the weight is racked on your shoulders?

Just an example:

Thanks

get some friends or a workotu partenr that knows how to do it...itll save you money from a coach and work pritty well depending on who the person is, ive taught coutnless kids in my school

youll find out its nto the lfit part that is hard to learn, tis all the little tricks that you make bad habits about in it, liek pushign your knees too far out or throwing the weight in an arc instead of up and down...
