They say cacao butter does, as it often works on scar tissue too, but I never really gave it a go. Actually, I think they look quite cool specially on tan skin (I'm caucasian)... :)
...don't look at me like that, I wish they were thicker, I'd look like a tigress! Grrr! ;) ;) ;)
Nope... once you have them that's it and as far as preventing them it all depends on the elasticity of your own particular skin... that's why you see some girls with a lot of them and others with none.
Check out your mom and if she's got them good chance you'll get them as well....

I wish that were true. My mother had 3 children and not one mark on her body. I had one child and I have a road map plastered across my belly...-I swear that one looks like route 66- :) No, they don't go away from creams or magic lotions. You could talk to a plastic surgeon though, they may have some expensive solutions.

The only real way to get rid of them is laser removal, but when you first start noticing one (or better yet, BEFORE it starts) try rubbing cocoa butter on it...or break open a vitamin E capsule and rub the oil on it. Vitamin E is really good for skin cell recovery and for promoting elasticity.

Try Mederma. You can find it in the ointment section of your local drug store or grocery store.

My boyfriend's stretch marks stopped getting bigger once he started taking vitamin E capsules. He tried rubbing vit E 'gel' (can't remember the brand, sorry) on it, but that didn't do very much for him.

stretchmarks SUCK but EVERYONE no matter how thin or heavy have them - I had them when I only weighed 100 lbs. Of course, now that I'm at my healthy weight I have them and MORE! I guess you could also try fake tan gel...

Sorry not everyone... a girlfriend of mine who's 42 with 3 kids doesn't have a single one anywhere... didn't check the bottom of her feet though :P
You can only stretch skin so much and so fast and everyone's "level" of stretch is different.
I've got them on my belly from when I was pregnant ... got them all in the last 3 months ...

What works on reducing or removing stretch marks?
Once you have them they are yours for life!. I suggest to anyone just starting to work out or planning on having a baby to coat your body in the purest form of cocoa butter you can get your hands on, its very thick, not lotion. I used it for two preg and have no stretch marks on my belly at all, one baby was 10 lbs.6 oz!!!!!!!!! It works.

I don't find stretch marks all that nasty..? I mean I certanly do look DIFFERENT with them! ;) As I said, were they thicker, they'd really be FUN! All silverly and glowing..! ;)
No, honestly, if you're gonna compete you can always cover 'em up with that fake tan stuff... and if you're just worried about being attractive,
(Imagine this said by Whoopi Goldberg:) well, if he/she ain't gonna have you for a few lousy stretch marks, he/she don't deserve you honey!

God I wish there was an easier way to get rid of these things then laser surgery. Does that even really work? What about a skin graft?
I'm 5'8" and the heaviest I got was 220 which while definitely chunky was not what I'd consider to be heavily obese (btw I'm a male). Now I've been blessed with these gigantic scars on the inside of my thighs that just look horrible. Guess I'm stuck with 'em forever though. I suppose it could be worse.

I've heard that Strivectin supposedly works but it's very pricey. I was darn lucky, I gained 75 pds with my daughter and not one SM.

I've had them for the past 10 years across the abdominal area. They first showed from teaching aerobics and doing a lot of ab work.

I love my stretchmarks. They're kind of like a road map showing me where my kids were carried. :)
They won't ever go away, but you can reduce them in appearance. I use a general all-over body firming lotion (cheap ones work as well as the expensive ones), a good massage once to twice a week, a decent diet and exercise regime, and I found that cod liver oil, evening primrose oil and flaxseed oil reduced them quite a bit too. ;)
Hope that helps lol :p

I took too many multivitamins once and thought my stomach mark went away but then it came back. Weird.

Pulled from Ironbodybuilding
We have three layers of skin: the epidermis (outer layer), the dermis (middle layer), and the subcutaneous stratum (innermost layer). Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the resilient middle layer that helps the skin retain its shape. When the dermis is constantly stretched over time, the skin becomes less elastic and the small connective fibres within it break. The result is what we know as stretch marks.~
~ Depending on your natural skin colouring, stretch marks begin as raised pink, reddish brown or dark brown lines that later turn a brighter violet or purple. Gradually these bright marks flatten and fade to a colour a few shades lighter than your natural skin tone. They usually become less noticeable over time~
~Prevention~
Stretch marks are similar, in that they don't ever go away entirely. The key, however, is finding ways to reduce their appearance. The earlier you begin treating stretch marks - when they are red or reddish brown - the more likely you are to diminish their appearance. Once these marks begin to flatten and fade they become less obvious and are more difficult to treat. Using coco butter can help but there are so many products out there that are formulated just for streach marks!~ These i find work the best! Phytomer as formulated some great products, these products will only work if you are currently active it is best to treat a streach mark after a work out! that is when the collegen and water are still running in between your dermis and epidermis, adn this helps feed the damaged skin and also help firm.. I was not a strong beliver that creams actually worked but then i had a client who is a marathin runner and she purchased the product i noticed a difference in her skin in bout 2 months!~
~New Alternative~
~Laser surgery is currently being developed for the treatment of stretch marks. However, these treatments don't remove stretch marks - they simply make them fade. The laser responds to dark colours only, so laser treatment is likely to be most effective in the early stages, when stretch marks are dark red or brown. However, a series of treatments might be required for visible results. Faded, flesh-coloured marks will probably not respond to laser treatment since they won't be easily detected.~

My stretch marks came into play when i became serious with weight training. The rapid increase in muscle was far greater than the loss of bf% therefore it led to stretch marks on my biceps and inner elbows (due to big forearms :P) The only way i can think of thats easy to do that covers up them is get a pretty expensive bottle of tanning spray and cover it up if you want, i have no issue with mine for me its a sign of success in lifting. I believe its the rapid stretching of skin and to prevent it go slow and use creams like suggested.
