View Full Version : 2 and a half weeks out..

Hey,
I'm currently 2 and half weeks out from my first competition (OCB, teen division and maybe a novice). My question to you is: do you think that losing another 5 pounds of fat will make my midsection look presentable? I mean, I like my definition overall except for the stubborn stomach.. I think it's there just for the sole purpose of torturing me.
Will another 5 pounds of fat loss, getting the water sucked out, good tanning/bronzing agent and (the greatest weapon of them all) pump bring me to a desirable level of "cutness"? Can I make it?
Thanks for your help!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are not ready yet. You look to be around 8-9% bf to me. You need to drop at least 3-4% more and you just don't have enough time to get there. Sorry

When is the next contest you can do after this? I say go for it for the learning experience then focus on another shower thats a few more weeks away.

agreed. Another show a little down the road might be a better call.

Cool, I appreciate the honesty, guys.
Do you think I have enough time to get ready for the other show on October 15th (INBF)? If so, I'm at 168lbs right now.. what should I be looking at as my target weight? 155lbs?
Any other tips that might help me get to the lower % by the October?
Thanks for saving me from disaster, I know I could trust you :D

Yes, you could be ready easily for that one. I would not have a target weight. Let your appearance dictate your weight. Do some research and look at your nutrition. Diet is always the key.

I think you could do that show. I think 150-155 lbs will be your target weight. Read my precontest article http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/layne36.htm that will help you as well as the precontest articles on my site http://www.physiquescience.com
I also offer personalized programs if you are interested in having someone guide you.
Good luck,

Thanks again and yeah, I'm already following Layne's guide.. pretty sure I can't afford any forms of PT though but I'll check out the website anyway.

If you are 19, and haven't done a show, I'd do both shows. The first would be great for experience, the Oct show for real placing. Don't be discouraged.

I agree...I think you should do good against other teens...Then when the show comes in Oct. you will already be a step ahead and have that extra edge on most of the other teens you will be going against.

I dunno guys, you forget the mentle aspect of it. Can it be good experience? Yes. But if he doesn't place well it might hurt his confidence big time. Plus it costs at least $100 to do a show (entry fee/membership to the org/drug test/ tanning stuff/posing suit) and he said he was on a budget.

Is the show the one in Poughkeepsie, NY? I might be attending it to check it out this year (get a feeling of how they do it and what the competition is like) and compete in it next year at 18 years old. Let me know, maybe I'll see you there if you do compete in it.

I'm turning 18 in a couple of days and Layne is right, I'd like to avoid spending another 200$ (35$first entry+25$crossover+50$registration+35$drug testing/polygraph+ another good 50$ for tanning/bronzing agents) on another contest when I have other more important things to pay for.
Hasaki, it's in Arizona actually but make sure to steal some good moves from the competitors anyway :D

experience is a great thing...but getting my ass handed to me is not much fun either. I still say put 100% of time, effort and money into that October show. Study up, practice your posing and go out there at your all time best.
