Hey,

I think you guys need to fix the rep system!

I had +2 rep points, and I made 1 post, and 1 guy disagreed and negged me. Now I'm -1112 points! BLOODY STUPID!

It will drive new guys away.

I like the whole idea of the system, but when 1 user can over power every one, it's kinda annoying and unfair.

Also, if I was a complete new user to the forum, day 1 etc and I got negged like that, to be honest I would of left.

It feels embarracing posting with 20 odd red dots coming up :P

Also, thanks to every 1 who repped me to get me into green :) I will return the favour! :)

I agree with the OP. I have 8 ppl repping me over the past 4 months (I read a lot via search rather than posting). Anyways, I was negged by this guy last night over a useless comment he posted in this thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?p=97706601

But yea, 1 neg against 8 pos = red with -57 pts is kind of ridiculous. Just a little rant :)

I think it should be done like digitalpoint forums. There it costs to giv neg to you. So no abuse etc.

There should be scaling about how much neg they can give you according to the location of the thread.

Like, in the sports fourms there is way to much "ahhh, you like another team NEG". It should be if you get neg'd in a serious lifting forum then you go down more than say if you were to get neg'd on the sports forums.

Yeah I can relate. I just recently joined this site, and because of the way I dress in my profile pics, people negged me on some predjudice tip. Until all of that nonsense started I was really thinking this was a very good site, and was ready to start telling all of my friends and family to register. But with that kind of senseless activity in the forums, I wouldnt advise anyone to waste their time here.

It is a GOOD site aside from the predjudice and ignorant reps being handed down to people for mo good reason.

(My signature was completely different until the childish boys and girls on the boards hit my rep with all that bullsh***.)

This may be a stupid question, but how exactly does the rep system work? I've given and recieved reps, but it doesn't seem to do anything. In the user CP it says "23 points total". Can someone explain?

Thank you

Wow! I was in the red yesterday, and I made the above post before getting off line. Then I got on today and my rep was all green with a 6 beside it. (What does the 6 mean?)

I'm guessing someone here made my rep green....

Thanks.

Is there a way to tell who is giving you rep (bad or good)?

Cool, I can see who was real and who was predjudice now. Now I know who is honorable and who should be ignored. Not bad. I'm gettin the hang of this.

Thank man.

I think you may have put some folks off with the whole "keepin' it real" thing. Seeing your above posts, you seem pretty cool. Plus, I liked your thread about curvy women. :D

I can understand that, but the thing is, for someone like me "keepin it real" actually means something. It's like being a man of honor, and always being tru with everything you do or say. A respectable person.

To everyone on the outside, it's just a phrase they know from hip hop songs and dumb videos.

I'm a real down to earth, humble kind of guy. Thanks! I love my woman, she's curvy. I had to make that thread for her (and for the self esteem of the rest of the curvy women that look down on themselves for being thick).

Is there a way to tell who is giving you rep (bad or good)?A 6 from zero would mean someone with over 6000 rep points hit you. :)

I love bumping greens to people who got off to a bad start and are about to hate this place.

People around here very rarely get reps into the thousands unless they have earned a reputation for being fair. That's just the way it is.

The mods can red rep ANYONE into the red for being an a**hole, and they do.

Just join one of the popular threads like fireworks or Sea and in no time you will be +++! I'm here since 2003 reading and 2004 posting and still less than 200 and yet some members in those thread who joined couple of month back and they are 1000+ with no contribution whatsoever! Is it fair? I don't know but I try my best to contribute to this site regardless of rep power so stop whining guys! lol

stay out of misc section, don`t act stupid, keep your head down.

Expect any smart@ss comment you make to be met with a barrage of negs especially if it isn`t funny. Don`t piss off a mod.

Most important.....
This is the internet...1 or 1million reps won`t help you get laid.

I don't have loads of reps, but 95% of mine were earned and given out in journals, specifically over 35 journals.

The Mod, Forge, has a rep offer for posters who keep a consistant journal in the journalling section for 3 months or longer.
This is a great way to break in the "green" around here, and work on some bodybuilding/health goals while you're at it.;)

If journalling and jailbait pics aren't your thing, the poster below has some excellent advice.:)

Same thing happened to me, i got some positive reps when i posted my gain pictures so some guys were nice enough to give me reps for it. But then i suddenly got a negative rep of someone with a high rep power, and now i don't have like any reps anymore :( just because he was jealous ..

Your plus 1 now :) I've gave you some rep too. Hope it helped.

Seriously though, the rep system here is messed - big time. It's just TOO overpowering.

On another forum I use, negs cost you the rep, and to get 1 green dot, you need 100 reps - very hard to get.

stick around a couple years. if you post regularly you will get rep. Not everyone is going to have +5000 rep ya know. the majority will be under 1000. A small group of +10000 exists and an even smaller non-mod group exist over 20000.

Settle down its forum reps man.

My opinion on this reputation system thingy is that ppl are taking it too seriously and making some sort of irrelevant game/contest out of it.

Most people don't have 10 hours a day to sit (sedentary) in front of the computer.

I would structure the rep system differently to decrease its importance and put the focus back on the exercise/fitness topics that are the main goal of this site.

And, I would police the .misc section more strongly.

Well if I see some one in the red, i'll be honest I don't count there opinion as "strong" or "quality" as I would from some one with loads of green.

Yeah. They've lost several hundred of my sales after that one. The mod who neg-raped me actually gave me a temporary ban at the same time. I messaged the admin after this and got no response.
