Wow, I post this and all the kids come out with anything barely more remedial to say other than "Worst idea ever".

The ONLY intelligent response so far came from Tech2. Manlaw, you'd be surprised what the FCC cares about. Searching the internet for crime is exactly what they do.

I never said everyone on here is posting nudity. All I said was there was too much of it being posted in an area where kids have easy access. All bodybuilding.com has to do is make it accessible by age verification. Then all the nudes can be posted that anyone could hope for. Now then, why don't some of you unclench your buttholes and realize I'm not attacking you. Sooner or later this will be caught and the site would most probably be shut down. All it takes is someone who is verbally attacked to realize they can have this happen.

Either way, I'm done here. Bored with it all. I just tried to help the forum. But by all means, attack me with ridiculous comments if that makes you feel like an adult. I promise I won't respond anymore.

The FCC shuts down websites that allows minors to view porn. This website does nothing to prohibit that.

Think of it this way, remember that person who was snagged posting comments about the President? Remember what happened? Now granted you may not view this as the same thing, but it's still a crime to show pornography to minors. You might want to read up on FCC rules, Thing. Do you really think internet sites aren't watched? May not be for this specific purpose but they're still watched in this day and age. I'm only trying to show the forum owners it would be in their best interest to either police the area more or have age verification before going into the Misc. Section. True, minors can lie, but it does still protect the forum.

The misc. doesn't allow porn. It's against the rules.

Trolls venture in at times and pepper the forum with all their crap and it all gets deleted rather expeditiously.

Instead of dropping a comment like your initial post and quickly backing away from the responses you receive, perhaps you could come up with an idea to prohibit troll invasions. That would be a real help, instead of bringing up a rule already in existence.

In all honesty (and ignoring the fact that I'm one of the minors you've referred to), there is little to no porno in the misc. section.

Gay porn and straight porn comes and goes, and is posted by trolls and people looking to go to banned camp. The rest is pretty much softcore stuff from people looking to get repped. It's nothing you couldn't find anywhere else, and a simple google search would yield about the same.

While the mods let most things slide, they DO police any real porn that they see. If you come across any actual porn that bothers you, you can simply report it and move on, a mod will be there shortly to either delete/lock/or leave be.

Edit: To any misc that read this - I've only ever reported gay porn, don't neg me ;)

Never part of the PTA, but you're right, I am an involved parent. Hopefully when you have kids you'll feel enough for them to get involved in their lives, too. I'm sure you have good parents. Someday you might want to thank them for that.

Where exactly did I back away? Not sure where you're getting that from. And I did post an idea ..... Adult Verification. It does work and it protects the site from lawsuits. Anyway, my original statement was to police it more. Not police it, period. Perhaps if some of you didn't get so offended by what I wrote (and I'm still not exactly sure why you're all offended) you would realize that all the trolling, gay porn, various racial comments, being viewed but minors can have serious repercussions to the forum. You're all acting as if I personally attacked all of you. That's not the case, despite some of you attacking me. But that's fine, if that's how you feel you'll get your point across. By adopting a rule to be verified, this forum can have better access to someone's information so as to report them when various indiscretions are posted.

But apparently that's not what a lot of you want. Funny thing is, those of you that posted in here do not own the board. I merely posted a suggestion to the forum moderators/ owners to possibly protect the board. Obviously that went over the heads of most of you that are getting angry about my suggestion.

Another intelligent response. edible_eye, you could learn a lot from this young man. At 38 years olds, I'm a little surprised at your response most of all. There's a lot more that can be done than what you stated. Btw edible_eye, it's late but congrats on the newborn.

I've always thought the misc. needs more policing. It's amazing how quickly some people have jumped up here and became all defensive.

Yes, I know that porn primarily comes from trolls, and yes I know that it's a practice which is severely frowned upon, however it still goes on far too much. Remember, this is a commercial site! It is a retailer which sells products. Imagine if a company, like say, Audi, had a forum on their site, in which porn was often posted in a supposedly minor friendly forum.

The fact is, bodybuilding.com has pornography on it when it shouldn't. The mods need to come down on this hard(er than they already do), for people (the FCC in this case) will simply see it as "pornography freely posted on a website which does not advertise this and sells products".

Here are some suggestions which could help:
Permanent ban for anyone who posts any nudity (nipples and genitals and anuses, I think cracks are allowed and I see no problem with them)
Permanent ban for anyone who posts in a thread after someone has posted pornography. This will mean that threads which contain porn will quickly fall out of the first page and are unlikely to offend; this also leaves the mods more time to react
A tougher CAPTCHA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA), this will stop spam and porno bots
Requiring accounts to have X number of posts (better make this quite high - say, 50? - as easy posts can be made quite quick here) and have been registered for Y number of days (a week, perhaps?) before they are permitted to use [IMG] tags. This will work because troll accounts will have to have been registered for a week and have made 50, non troll posts before they can start posting porn. I doubt many, if any, trolls will wait that long

So, those are my suggestions. What do you guys think?

Both chuckg and Shaun have valid points here. IMO. Policing/moderating more is required obviously.

I would suggest both members copy paste and e-mail Ryan who will address these concerns or at least get back to.

I pm'd 5 mods a couple months ago about helping in the modding area and have still heard nothing from any of them. After 2 weeks I e-mailed Ryan and he responded within a day or so saying it was in the mod forum. Yet I have heard nothing more.
IMO the misc. has been left to fend for itself recently and I don't believe that is right.

On another note the modding is volluntary so there may not be a schedule per say ensuring someone is on all the time. Also if a mod isn't moderating anymore then they should be removed from the mod list supplied. We never know if anyone is on or not.

I am sure they will fix it all eventually but again e-mail Ryan directly with your concerns.

The MODS have a thanksless job, but I do appreciate what they do for us on all forums
