With great sorrow, I would like to say that bodybuilding has lost not only a great bodybuilder but a great person. Dan Puckett was found dead earlier tonight. No information is available right now about the cause of death. If anyone keeps up with national level shows, Dan was the Heavyweight Winner of the Collegiate Nationals last year and recieved a great deal of attention afterwards. I have even seen a few posts about him on here in the past. He was a great friend and training partner to me. Please keep him, his family, and friends in your prayers.

Rudolph, please do not try to turn this into a religous debate. This thread is about paying respect to obviously a very well thought of person.
R.I.P, very sad to hear. Please keep us updated if the cause of death is found.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) ? A national bodybuilding champion who was a student at the University of Alabama was found dead Wednesday morning by his roommate.
Dan Puckett, 22, was a senior at Alabama and would have graduated in December. Capt. Loyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said Puckett's roommate found him dead in the bathroom of their apartment.
Puckett's roommate last saw him about 1 p.m. Tuesday. He had complained of a possible muscle injury after returning home from the gym.
"The roommate left and returned at 7 a.m. He couldn't get an answer at the door and got a call that no one had heard from him since Tuesday afternoon," Baker told The Tuscaloosa News. "When he got no response, he forced his way in and found him on the bathroom floor."
Baker said there were no visible signs of trauma or any suggestion of foul play. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday. But it could take weeks for toxicology results to be returned for a final determination.
Puckett was from Muscle Shoals. He was studying marketing at Alabama's School of Commerce and Business Administration. He was the heavyweight winner of the 2006 NPC Teenage/Collegiate National Bodybuilding contest held in Pittsburgh.

And only 22 years old? Terrible news, however especially bad for someone so young to pass. Condolences to you and his family and other friends, of course.
You wrote "Just a lil FYI his contest history.." but this may also be an appropriate time to offer just a lil FYI for any who take life for granted. I feel blessed to have made it to 45.
I suspect everyone wants to live to the ripe and healthy old age of 100 (200?), but none of us are guaranteed a single day. Again, my sincere condolences over the loss of this young athlete and student.

This is really sad. I'm 20 and not in near the condition he is in. Just goes to show that you must always be thankful.
I go to Shelton, which is just 5 minutes from the U of Alabama, I wonder if i ever passed him in the mall or on the road..... :(
